Through Eyes of Darkness
From the small town I have lived, I knew not what I might find,
The journey to beyond, may it ever be a crime,
I knew I was destined for greatness, the eyes of black said so,
I knew I was the one, for whom darkness has no hold.
I was ten when I was told, with whispers dark as night,
Of the darkness, and the death, of the horrors of our plight.
They called me the one, and they outlined the plan,
The simplicity, the suspense, it was a thing I could not stand.
They told me of the land, for where I must now go,
To bring about the darkness, enveloping my soul.
I traveled far and wide, for nigh upon a millennium, to find the land they claim,
Oh mighty land of Kadath, where gods are said to crawl, though shall be mine I promise, for the darkness has told me so.
My journey is at its end, the gated city in sight,
I have achieved of this, my final greatest plight.
I shall bring about darkness, and destruction never seen,
For through these eyes of darkness, I see the end quite clean,
With no one left to see, the remains of humanity.
But as I step towards the gate with my final breath, I hear the whispers once more as they did so long ago.
“It’s over”, They said, “Your journey is done, you’ve done what no other can dare comprehend, now in rewards, for this pointless plight, we grant to you, the power of night”.
I cried out in pain, as my vision blackened, thinking the end was upon me, but nay, as I woke from the horrible essence of the elder gods I knew, That they have changed me for the better.
I am no longer, a humble traveler as you may have seen, you will know me as Death, but not quite so clean.
You shall know me as Mortuis, and heed my call, for it shall come, and I shall be waiting!
