supposedly not breaking eye contact when talking to someone shows that you have power and have no fear of the other person. wouldnt you feel creeped out if someone like hannibal just stared at your eyes and looked right into your soul? I learned this from film analysis in AP english

Hopkins said in an interview he tried to blink as little as possible, not stop blinking altogether.

Maybe you should have included a screen-cap or the actual gif, which isn't that hard when you know what to do of it and debunked the myth while you were add it.
User avatar #70 to #24 - captnnorway (06/19/2014) [-]
You do realize that he blinks in that gif?

He means to put that pic in the comp as another "fact". In order to debunk the myth.

Holy **** , I thought it was obvious it was meant the way gtocforyou pointed out. Oh, well, nothing to do about that now. Gotta thank you for at least calling back your red thumb (if you did so) as I can see you aren't amongst the ones who thumbed me down.

Don't ******* apologise for it, you didn't personally ask 34 people to thumb me down.

And even if you did, Hell, then I'm more impressed by your personal army than mad.

Sure -31 thumbs hurt, but honestly who cares? There are much worse things to happen.
User avatar #135 to #133 - captnnorway (06/19/2014) [-]
And no, I never thumb down, unless the guy has a lot of thumbs up. I think the red thumbs on "Recent comments" on a persons page look so bad, so I don't want to cause those.

The well-known poster with Jodie Foster’s face is showing that her mouth is covered by a moth; but not any kind of moth. The “Death’s-head Hawkmoth” is the one on the posters as well as in the movie, which is known for its vaguely human skull-shaped pattern of markings on the thorax. If you see closely on the moth that’s in front of Foster’s lips you will notice a skull on its back, but what you see is actually 7 naked woman’s bodies that are shaping a human skull together.
This art work is actually done by Salvador Dali. Some say that the 7 women symbolize the victim’s in the movie, which makes sense. The agency behind the movies poster is film ad agency Dazu and they got permission by director Jonathan….

imo Mads Mikkelsen is the far superior Lecter i know i know shame on me i should get hanged etc etc.. because he's classy and well respected so he's not considered to be a killer.. he also have an accent which make it more beliveable that he is a multi laguage speaking man and native to Latvia.. i also really like that he seems so calm and collected but in reality is cold and vicious
#47 to #19 - Rascal (06/19/2014) [-]
Mikkelsen makes an excellent Lecter, but I don't know if it's fair really to compare him to Hopkins at this time. Up until now in the TV show Lecter has been free to roam and as such has to fit in with society so he's not found out. Whereas Hopkins' Lecter is behind bars when we first see him in SotL and, excepting a brief scene in Red Dragon is also imprisoned then. Spending years incarcerated with everyone knowing what you really are is bound to change the way you're presenting yourself now that you don't have to fool anyone.

...what I'm getting at is at this time Mikkelsen has played a dramatically different Lecter, the Lecter that is hiding behind his "person suit," up until now. It won't really be fair to compare him to Hopkins until we see him more in the SotL era storyline when he can be his true self. Although I suspect Mikkelsen will excel then and has a very good chance of surpassing Hopkins' portrayal.

Also Lecter is from Lithuania, not Latvia
User avatar #142 to #47 - sockprague (06/20/2014) [-]
The brief cracks in his "person suit" are what make his performance great. The way he was shocked when verger stabbed his chair's upholstery. It's a much more psychological performance, needing to read his face allows you to delve into the character more as an audience. You can intuit what his motives are.

I quite like it, I'm just curious as to how they'll make the third season with the ******* ending to season two ending with everyone hitting the deck in a pool of their own blood and Hannibal fleeing the country. I guess some of them might survive to chase after him again, or maybe we've seen the last of Will Graham and we just follow Hannibal in his new place, I'm quite intrigued and curious to find out, looking forward to it.
User avatar #80 to #74 - bloomberg (06/19/2014) [-]
Hugh Dancy has confirmed that he will be in the next season and Fuller, the writer said that not everyone is dead, but some of them are. I think Abigail is definitely gone, after that I can imagine everyone surviving.
User avatar #81 to #80 - certifiedidiot ONLINE (06/19/2014) [-]
I figured that abigail would have died, but I also think Jack died, he had a lot of time to bleed out, that and he was stabbed in the neck/throat, I think Will and.. The lady who flew out the window will survive. Still one hell of a ******* ending to a season.
User avatar #82 to #81 - bloomberg (06/19/2014) [-]
One of the best season finales I've ever seen!
yeah it doesn't look to hopeful for Jack, only reason I think he might still be alive is because its Laurence Fishburne .
User avatar #83 to #82 - certifiedidiot ONLINE (06/19/2014) [-]
I wouldn't count much on it, he locked himself in the wine room up against the door, Hannibal had trouble getting in there, rescuers who will have to be careful since they don't know where Hannibal is at the moment, will have an even harder time to get to him in time to save him.

And I'm not sure why I didn't think of that before, but the FBI is now heavily involved in Hannibal's case and they have massive proof of how dangerous he is, not to mention that Jack, whom he either heavily injured or killed is a member of the FBI, and maybe they'll even connect the other two FBI detectives that Hannibal murdered to him, seems like there will be a stronger force after him now but he did just slip through their net.

The last fact makes me angry.

Serial killers come in all shapes and forms. Some of them, like Jeffrey Dahmer, are gay. That doesn't mean that all gay people are bad. Some of them, like John Wayne Gacy, are bisexual, but that doesn't mean that all bisexual people are bad. Ed Gein often dressed up as a woman, but that doesn't mean that all transexual people are bad.

Jame Gumb appeared to be a transexual serial killer. So what? People suffering with gender identity issues often also suffer psychological problems - which is perfectly acceptable, since questioning your identity can cause a lot of mental strife. But the movie DID make it perfectly clear that Jame Gumb was rejected for sexual reassignment surgery because he had mental issues.

People get so sensitive about things. Correlation does not equal causation. Just because a serial killer is a transexual does not mean that all transexuals are bad. It doesn't mean they all have mental issues. It doesn't really mean anything except that Jame Gumb was psychotic AND ALSO happened to be a transexual.

Only they weren't exactly portraying a gay/transsexual, they were portraying the mind of a damaged human being. Could they have honestly expected a man psychologically damaged to have their perfect portrayal of a gay/transsexual? I'm all for LGBT rights but it annoys me to think that they could believe that all people of sexual classification are portrayed the same.
