El Laberinto del Fauno, literally The Faun's Labrynth or "Pan's Labrynth" in English is where this comes from. It truly is an odd movie. Some parts of it are very realistic, or rather something you would find in a realistic genre work. However, occasionally the main character enters into a magical world.

With that being said, I also can't really find the audience for this. There's a TON of war, blood, scary **** (see picture), and swearing yet the story seems (intentionally) underdeveloped as if to make it easier for a child to understand.

Hmmph. I would recommend it though. The pale man (the guy in the picture) is a small small part of the movie, only in one scene, but it's a good watch anyway.

I didn't enjoy it much... I watched it for information about faun / satyr / pan
But it sadly disappointed me that there where not much of story to the faun...
Didn't really like the movie :/

Another one of the director's movies similar to this is The Orphanage. Really creepy, kind of a mystery, plus Spanish with subs. I enjoyed both movies, personally.
