I'm an American and drive an automatic, but I do know how to use a stick shift.

I just prefer to use an automatic so I can drive and eat a double fried Big Macwith one hand as I salute old glory with the other, while running over foreigners yelling at them to, "GET OUTTA MY COUNTRY F***ERS". Then as I pull into a french market I flick off the "Oh no! They have stones WE SURRENDER!" Frenchies using both hands while staying and optimal speed of 35 MPH. To those foreigners who don't know what MPH means it means, GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM!

Well seeing that most American muscle cars use a stick shift, and America pretty much INVENTED the car, I think you're a bit off.

This post is like saying any car that has over 100 horsepower is morbid for the British. It just doesn't work.

Well this just doesn't make much sense. Most people I know, drive stick or have at least learned how to drive stick. Hell, most American Muscle cars are stick, and we love our muscle cars.

I don't understand how people call Americans ignorant when **** like this is so highly praised?

Pic is related as its the only American reaction I have.

Why the **** would you NOT drive a standard transmission? Safer, more efficient, more control, cheaper and simpler.
#146 to #144 - monkeysalt (06/21/2012) [-]
safer? no. there is no reason it would be safer. if anything, the jolting from changing gears in city limits coould cause rear endings. more efficient? no. changing gears manually actually cause more gas to be use. more control? only over how your car shifts gears. not exactly a huge deal. cheaper? not even close. yeah transmissions last longer, but there are also quite a few more parts that get worn out, that autmoatics dont have. like clutches. and simpler? how can anything be more simpler than pushing your foot on a gas pedal? .

I drive a Mustang GT with a stick, and personally I don't mind that many new drivers can't drive stick these days. As I see it, it's just a free anti-theft device.
