Not really speedy as much as him seeing the content before you. If you both seen it at the same time, and he posted that picture before you, then he could be referred to as a speedy bastard

If I were pregnant, and knew that my unborn child was going to be severely deformed, handicapped, or retarded. (Within the allowed time frame) I would most definitely get an abortion. There is no sense in bringing a child into the world that will most likely live a life of torment, pain, and suffering. Do them the favor and end it before it starts.

Too bad we live in a world where it's frowned upon for ridiculing people with a deformity.

Not if he watches other people living their life and enjoying it, while he sits in the wheelchair or lies in a bed whole his life.

It's called eugenics.
User avatar #114 to #59 - bradmanx (05/21/2013) [-]
That's a bit different, that's killing off anyone (even already living people) with deformities and other traits the person performing it considers unacceptable.
Aborting one fetus just so it won't suffer due it's severe deformities isn't eugenics, it's showing mercy before the fetus is even developed.

I completely agree. My husband and I have come to that agreement.

Not to mention basically ruining your life having to pay for care and take care of it.
#111 to #46 - anon (05/21/2013) [-]
That's why there's adoption...you don't have to take care of HIM or HER. Not IT.

I said it because I am not sure of the gender and don't feel like typing him/her. Also if it's at the stage we are talking about it's debatable whether or not it's an it. (I would use it seeing as how its just tissue)

I hate when people go on about how abortion is 'killing babies' and 'taking lives', because it's not.

Abortions are performed before the fetus develops cognitive thought. It is not sentient at this stage, it is a clump of cells. Even if you're religious and reject all that sciency speak it makes no sense. At what point does God give a fetus a soul? Being all-knowing, I don't think he's going to send a soul down to a fetus he knows is going to be aborted. "Hey brah, okay, this life might be short and moist but hey brah lol"

"Omg my mother was going to get an abortion but she didn't I wouldn't be here if abortion was legal"

You wouldn't be here if your parents had sex one second before or after they did. You wouldn't be here if your mother shifted an inch, changing the sperm flow. The chance of you being born is already insignificant enough that it doesn't even show up on a chart.

A human life is more than sex, it's more than pregnancy, and it's more than birth

I am for legalized abortion, but I always think of the quote by Jeremy Bentham: The question is not, Can they reason? nor, Can they talk? but, Can they suffer?

He said this in regard to animal rights. I just cannot think why some people can't apply the same logic to human life also.

In regards to abortion as birth control, I think of Carl Jung's concept of the anima. The anima deals with men's relationship with women. The last two of four stages are given the names of Mary and Sophia. Mary is when males start to see that women can be virtuous. However, it can be very dogmatic and even can render unvirtuous activity as being 'out of reach' for women. The last stage, Sophia, is when women are finally viewed as equals, capable of both good and bad. So making excuses for every abortion actually is regressive in terms of promoting gender equality. Especially when it is done as birth control and not in any due to a rape, incest or medical reason for the mother.

Giving birth to something like that and letting it live is far more cruel than death

With natural selection out the window we're already drowning in disease and utter weakness, but we are kind so we don't commit genocide, but god damn there should be a limit.
User avatar #76 to #43 - NecroBearRAWR (05/19/2013) [-]
You do know evolution doesnt happen that fast right? Evolutionary traits take tens of thousands of years to develop.... Please stop with the eugenics; it isnt real science. Parenting styles have rapidly changed, yes. Cultural evolutions take place way quicker. Changing fundamental biology takes far, far longer. We arent going to all turn into paralyzed weaklings. Do you see ANY conceivable chance this kid reproduces and passes his genetics on? Our technological and cultural developments will drive our species to its end. Choosing to take the fetus with defects to term, if this was even forseeable, wont. It's just not efficient enough.
User avatar #77 to #76 - infinitereaper ONLINE (05/19/2013) [-]
Well yes, but we've been going at it like this ever since we smartened up. Right now our "evolution" is utterly random and without any real purpose.
#52 to #43 - anon (05/19/2013) [-]
I agree. I find it a sad state of affairs when people can't see that we will affect the evolution of our species. Eventually, humans will be so weak, that if our technology can't handle something, our species will die. We breed weakness, and I don't care if that sounds like something a video game villain would say.
User avatar #62 to #52 - chthulhu (05/19/2013) [-]
Are you guys implying that someone like that kid will ever get laid and pass on his weaker genes?
User avatar #64 to #62 - zafara (05/19/2013) [-]
If they are rednecks, then yes.
User avatar #78 to #62 - infinitereaper ONLINE (05/19/2013) [-]
No it's the fact that the higher occurrence of birth defects may be due to the fact that as a species the weak don't die because we have no natural predators or balance so the genes get mixed our evolution has stagnated and our run away population threatens to consume the Earth like a virus.
