To be fair I doubt he had that much sense of direction, he just got the **** shocked out of him. He was probably going to die later from the injuries anyway, or develop a tumor. Poor bastards.

Let Me get this out of the way since no one has explained it yet. Volts do not kill. It is the amps that will kill You. I have been hit with 500kv from a homemade tesla coil I made. I'm not dead. Think of Your voltage as how hard it is forcing the electricity threw an object. example, diodes will not allow current to pass without a certain amount of voltage. .6v to be exact. Any lower and power will not pass, Because there is not enough electrical force (pressure) to force the current threw said diode. amps on the other hand is the amount of electrons. The more electrons the more electrons there is to tear Your body apart. example. Think of a small about of amps as a .22 rifle bullet. Yea some damage but You won't die, Now think of a lot of amps as a 12 gauge bird shot. Bullets go everywhere and body parts get destroyed. A 1/10 of an amp can kill someone. tazers give 50kv but the amps is so minute it won't kill. Also the wattage is a simple formula. volts x amps. Also another thing electricity will not let You go. if You get hit with dc You can't let go because it's a solid line of steady current, ac You can let go because of its alternating abilities, ac is in the form of a sine wave.

tldr: volts don't kill, amps do.

believe it or not 100 MA usually kills due to ventricular fibrillation but 200 MA clamps the heart preventing ventricular fibrillation and you can be revived afterward. (but in pretty rough shape)
User avatar #214 to #212 - mookiez (12/13/2012) [-]
Did not know exactly what it did to one. All I knew was, that it took 1\10 of an amp to kill one. This is slightly enlighting. But I never did add that when I got struck by the 500000volts of power, I did fall over and pissed My self. But I forgot what the amps were.

I plan on getting My masters in electrical engineering. Not sure which branch I'm aiming towards circuits. But I remember when I was taking apart an old crt tvs the ones with the flyback transformer. and someone said to touch the red wire coming from it. I wasn't that stupid. But I forgot to discharge the cathode ray. That hit me with 35kv. **** sucks. But with most of My childhood and teenage years. I've learned a lot. So people could not trick Me. But there is always payback...always.

Welding on robotics team. Realize I'm using 1700 times the amps I need to kill myself. nb.
User avatar #202 to #199 - mookiez (12/13/2012) [-]
But if the voltage is low enough. Then It won't kill You because there is not enough voltage to force all the amps into Your body. But if Your are dealing with a 220 then You're ****** . But I know a guy that grabbed a 440v with like 200 amps and lived 88000 watts of power. He just grabbed the breaker box inside the house. Blew a chunk of skin off his leg. **** was gross.

at close range it will destroy about anything. That is why I used it as a metaphor.
#198 to #195 - lordaurion (12/13/2012) [-]
No it doesn't. it's like getting shot with bb's. Is it pleasant? **** no, you're gonna go to the ER. Is it particularly deadly? No, at least not any more than a .22 is. Both will kill but only if you hit the right spot. Buckshot would have been a much better choice.
User avatar #200 to #198 - mookiez (12/13/2012) [-]
Have You ever shot birdshot out of a 12 gauge? It tears **** a new ******* . I would much rather defend my self with a 12 gauge with bird **** that with a .22 rifle. I have shot **** with bird **** and it just flys apart. And You obviously don't understand why I chose bird shot as the metaphor. Because of the amount of bullets in it. I shoot guns all the time.
#205 to #200 - lordaurion (12/13/2012) [-]
Just because you shoot a lot doesn't mean you know jack about it. Birdshot underpenetrates horribly. You need at least 14 inches of penetration into bare ballistic gelatin for a round to be considered usable for taking down a human sized target. Most birdshot loads don't even reach half that depth.

I've shot everything from .22 to max loaded 30-06 and eerything from .410 to 10 gauge. Yes, birdshot LOOKS impressive, especially if you're shooting stuff like water jugs and other thin walled or soft objects. This is because it does a lot of superficial damage. It would be more akin to the surface burns you get from electricity.
User avatar #208 to #205 - mookiez (12/13/2012) [-]
But You are still not understanding why I chose bird shot. It is because of the amount of bullets. not the power. But let's just agree to disagree because we are both being arrogant.

There was a scene like that in a death row movie... I think it was called the Green Mile or something along those lines... The idiot rookie decided it was a 'fun' idea to not dampen a sponge that they use to give the electricity from the electric chair an easier path so it didn't produce much heat and happened quickly... Yeah, that didn't happen. I think they had a burlap sack over his head, and where his eyes were lit on fire. I'm sure the placement was more movie-magic, but the science is sound- my explanation, probably not so much.
