Amon Amarth is ******* awesome, and I have huge amounts of respect for a lot of European metal bands.

That having been said:
Metallica, Megadeth, Manowar, Slayer, Anthrax, Dream Theater, Cannibal Corpse, Disturbed, Lamb of God, Pantera, Slipknot, Mastodon, System of a Down.
(To name a few, and most of these aren't even the classics)

Don't confuse American metal-heads for emo, ******* , self-mutilating faggots.
Please and thank you.

Here in England, I can safely say that I have a bunch of friends who come from both of these categories of people and they all chill with each other and are really good friends. If people grew up and got over themselves they'd realise metalheads are metalheads regardless of their haircut and particular choice of metal sub-genre.

They're Metal. Just not very good metal, in my opinion.

Honestly, I'd like probably like Bring Me Horizon a lot more if their vocalist didn't suck so much. Their Lyrics are so abnormally stupid, as well. I prefer lyrics that actually means something, and for it to be said by a decent voice.
Not a big fan of either band.

I understand where you're coming from, but honestly, when you listen to it, it's clearly closer to Metal than Punk. Don't get me wrong, I know that it all came from Hardcore Punk, but, the genre has evolved, just like every other genre. Back in 1980s when it first came to creation, yes, it was defiantly very punky with metal influences, but now, I'd say it's defiantly much closer to Metal, after 30 years of evolution.

Think of it like Metal coming from Rock / Hard-Rock. It's kind of the same concept. For a while, everybody considered Metal to be a subgenre of Rock, but now they're separate genres that have close ties.
User avatar #493 to #492 - defiantly (05/18/2013) [-]

BMTH's new album, is a lot different from the old stuff. It's become more hard rock with post-hardcore influences. The themata of the music has become more anti-societal, namely the stigma of atheistic hate towards religions shortcomings. Also the tension of belonging to society, whilst remaining an individual.

You know, this is just according to popular opinion, if you dig deep enough you'll find amazing music in every country. The best artists aren't necessarily the ones who get record deals, some of the best music I've heard is at open mic nights and going to random gigs in ****** run down pubs.

That's why no one says classical music is just so **** these days... The people who listen to classical have enough intelligence to realise it's not about what's popular, it's about what you like.

overkill \m/ , i could think of better. but you certanly got a vote from me.
#21 to #13 - Rascal (05/16/2013) [-]
i disagree, purely because Amon Amarth, is just incredible. like, seriously, you cannot compete with their lyrics and their sound. Guardians Of Asgaard, i mean, **** , it has something that i like to call, the alpha wave, as in, it's a sound that makes you feel, like A MAN. i mean, if you just listen to their lyrics it's like being sensually butt ****** by Thor himself whilst you're drinking virgin's blood from a Yak's horn that you killed with your bare hands, that's the kinda **** that Amon Amarth make you FEEL. and that's the real point here i'm trying to make, Amon Amarth make you FEEL. that's just something that a lot of metal bands can replicate, and not just metal bands, a lot of normal bands can't do it either. maybe i'm just biased, because i'm in ******* love Johan Hegg, but, god ******* damn, they're amazing
User avatar #27 to #21 - worlddestroyguy (05/16/2013) [-]
i cant stand ****** amon amarth... i hate vikings and i am not a huge fan of melo death metal... BUT IF YOU LIKE THIS BAND ITS OKAY WITH ME SO DONT BUTTHURT
