In no way am I saying every painting about Death is breathtaking, every movie about death is a classic etc. This is directed towards people who instantly hate Death Metal because they see songs about Death as stupid, grim and depressing. Just because a song has a theme that isn't about happiness, doesn't mean the song isn't enjoyable.

Death metal has some of the greatest lyricist and musical composition I've ever heard, especially bands like Death, Possessed, Atheist and Wintersun. Death metal lyrics [forthemostpart] are made to go to areas most other artists are afraid to touch, mostly death and dark subjects.

I don't hate it because it's about death, I dislike it because I feel like it doesn't exemplify the types of music that i personally enjoy to listen to. I much prefer to listen to music where I can pick out each instrument and admire the skills of the person playing it, understand the lyrics and explore their symbolism or poetic qualities, and be impressed by the talent of the vocals and of the group in general.

try this, maintains what you've specified while still being metal!

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brendon_Small's_Galaktikon
lyrics are audible and the artist actually has an education on music....
AND its BRUTAL

I love Dethklok!
The first time I hear a song, it's brutal. But then the second time, I find myself laughing because of some of random subject matter in some of the songs.

I think they should give Skwisgaar a song. "I'm no man" is awesome and I would like another gem like that as like a bonus track or something.

Your argument has a major flaw: you clearly don't listen to metal, when you say that, for appreciating a song, you have to listen to each instrument and get impressed by the talent of the artists.
Dude, there is METAL in various ways, also death metal, that is absolutely COMPLEX and skillfull in ways you don't even imagine.

Melodic death metal.

Death metal: You can pick out and admire the skills of the person playing it. Death metal has some of the best musicians in the world. You can understand the lyrics if you aren't retarded. The lyrics have many poetic qualities. You just made the silliest excuse for hating death metal ever.

I just don't like the sounds of the guitars in it. Or drums. Or the voices.

Lyrics are okay.

But the way it's presented makes me uncomfortable. I'm an old rock 'n' roll/ blues guy.

Not that I dislike Death metal but Im pretty sure most people have more issue with the style and sound of the music than the subject matter ( not counting people who say its satanic of course). There are actually many songs about death that are very well known and love i.e. Dont fear the Reaper by Blue Oyster Cult

The style of death metal is probably the most difficult subgenre of metal to like if you dont like metal in the first place

There could be good songs about death, but most of them are usually emo faggotry since it's written by these guys.

Blood on the Dance floor.

Pedos who sing songs about sex to children. (I'm not ******** you, the one on the right has been called a child molester by other artists on tour with them)

you are an idiot. people dont hate metal because its about death, people hate it because its loud and annoying to some people.
I like metal as much as the next guy but understand why people dont like it and dont compare it to other forms of art.

Seriously, if people posted more funny content, we wouldnt have this problem where people think they actually know ****

Very true. It reminds me of all the country songs that say things like, "if you don't like the way I'm livin' you can just leave me alone." No one gives a **** if you spend your free time drinking beer and driving trucks by bodies of water. Stop acting like you're ******* oppressed.

I love death metal, but you gotta admit its an acquired taste. Also opinion polls are ruled by hivemind fangirls who listen to pleb tier **** like JB, 1D or other pop cancers. I didn't start with death metal, but I was raised on Bruce Springsteen, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Eric Clapton. Bands that got me to appreciate instrumental artistry and lyrics which eased my ascent to metal, rather than the easy-to-fall for meaningless catchy jingle like what spews out of the radio.

Not really an acquired taste for all, when I started listening to music, I started straight at melodic death.

Melo-Death is easy to start with. Starting at Goregrind, or brutal slam, you'll probably hate it first time.

Good on you! Melodic death is one of my favorites but its, well, more melodic than regular death. to most it just sounds abrasive, but to the appreciative ear...

Aeon is heavier, comparing Forgiveness Denied and Altars in Gore, that's pretty easy to tell.

Forgiveness Denied is in no way a bad song but it's not even comparable to Altars in Gore in regards to "heavy".

Depends on what you put in heavy. Deicide, Aeon and ********* can all be considered "heavy", but none are heavy in the same way.

I think it has to be acquired too. Me and my buddy like almost the same stuff but he likes death metal and tries to play me different types constantly. He's like here try this thrashmetal, melodeath, spunkmetal, ******** whatever they're all called they just all sound the same to me. I do like heavy stuff sometimes when it's unique or well played but a lot of it just sounds like noise to me. (this has been one man's opinion and in no way shape or form am I calling metal bad).

"Black Sabbath" (1970)

What is this that stands before me?
Figure in black which points at me
Turn around quick and start to run
Find out I'm the chosen one

Big black shape with eyes of fire
Telling people their desire
Satan's sitting there, he's smiling
Watches those flames get higher and higher

Is it the end, my friend?
Satan's coming 'round the bend
people running 'cause they're scared
The people better go and beware

>it's about death
>it's not death metal
>it's a great song
>point proven

First four lines definitely about Death, as in the Grim Reaper, claiming Ozzy and taking him to hell. Next four lines are Ozzy's in hell, of course Satan's going to play a role.
