Been too long since I've played Mass Effect.
I have 1 and 2 on Steam (because **** Origin and its faggoty-ass hoarding of 3), so I probably ought to play them, even though I totally smashed them on Xbox.
Great games.

Is red sand intended to be a "Dune" reference.

well I wish you luck with that, I'm an avid reader but unfortunately for about a year after taking English my senior year I didn't read a single book... kind of ruined me, that's just my opinion

glad I can just read for fun now

I'm unsure, but in Mass Effect Red Sand is used in a couple of different ways. If used by a biotic (mystic blue telekinetic powers) they will be enhanced, but you will also get high. Mostly Red Sand is used by non-biotics, quite often by friends and family of biotics so that they can know how their friend or family has it.

If used by a non-biotic that person or animal will get biotic powers, such as the Volus in the gif. You can also tell he's high: "I am a biotic god!"
