I played Hanako's route first, it was the route I intended to go for but I liked the way it indirectly put me into that route, not like a 'press this to go for Hanako'
Anyway, this has only just reminded me of something very recent.. When I started college in September 2011, it was like starting again, new people and such. Weeks went by with nothing much interesting happening, just lessons and whatnot. After a bit of time, the college started making us do activities every Wednesday; none of the activities interested me much but since they were mandatory, I just picked one. And guess which one I picked? That's right, I picked chess...
First Wednesday there and there's a decent turn out, maybe around 12 people including me. I arrived somewhat late and most people had already paired up with someone else, but there was one girl in the corner on her own. After being signed in by the person in charge, they paired me up with this girl. She was as quiet as anything, not saying much at all. The first game we played together was pretty awkward as we were both mostly silent, only the ocassional glance at each other or my awkward 'laugh' when I took one of her pieces.
Anyway, weeks went on and every Wednesday we'd go to chess and always pair up together, with her slowly becoming more talkative with me. Then we began to see each other outside of chess and just hang out, doing whatever. Although neither of us ever said anything about it, we got more 'touchy' with each other, like playfully shoving or just messing about with each other's hands. It was only a few weeks after that we shared our first, and only, kiss that kind of happened spontaneously.
This.. left me confused.. I wasn't sure then whether we were 'together' or if we were even acting like it. Anyway, I ****** up hard with this and essentially shoved her away because I didn't think us as a couple was right. Time passed on and we just drifted apart. I still see her in college and think about how hard I ****** up...

If you truly love her, then go for her. Remember what you learned from this game.. one of the things is to learn from the past, and let it go..

It's the present now. It's not over for you; far from it. Love knows no bounds, not even time itself. But only with time that you spend with her, will heal the wounds and distance made between you two.

Don't ever give up.. always keep trying.

While we're spewing personal stories to random strangers on the internet: Emi was my favorite, because she sort of reminds me of myself. I lost my little brother when I was in 2nd grade, and to deal with it I started running. No joke, running helps you deal with everything. in fact, I was running when I met my girlfriend (who has also lost a loved one) and playing Katawa Shoujo really brought back memories and helped me come to terms with all of the **** that was going on in my life at the time. It's a good VN that really puts a lot of thought into each character and allows everyone to have feels and to think about themselves.

I know your feels bro...I still need to play through Lilly and the Misha/Shin pair, but so far....every single girl and story...has been like a composite of my current girlfriend...missing father (emi) determined to do things because she cant (emi/rin) is an amazing artist but also quite the scatterbrain (rin) i started dating her because she was just that kind of girl you wanted to protect from the bad things in her life (hanako) and playing through this game has actually been..well. really good for me. It's truly helped me realize quite a few things about my life and what I need to do to get it back on track. I thank you internet. I thank you for pointing me to this.

I got the same kind of relation to the game, only it was a sympathy-kind of relation. Hanako's feelings and her story of childhood was much like my own, and therefore she struck my feels really hard
