Dude, he wasnt 50 years old when the big party was - The great party was for Bilbo and Frodo, 111 years + 33 years = 144. He was 50yo when his journey started

But hobbits age slower than regular people. So theyre ment to look younger than their actual age.
#168 to #133 - anon (06/27/2013) [-]
That's mostly because of the ring. I believe a normal hobbit lives to about 100 -- which is older than humans, but not by much.
#339 to #168 - wheredahoodat (06/27/2013) [-]
Still, they only come "of age" at 33, so I suppose they all age a bit slower.

Just to make it clear,he is 50 at the begining of the movie. He was 33 when he got the ring. And waited many years while Gandalf was probably getting high all across middle earth.

Well by that time they were both 15/16 ish but you get the point also in the olden days this happened a lot, young kings after a father died and young nights because there weren't any real age restrictions

The starks have some badass beards compared to be ******* 14 year olds. Seriously, John does NOT look like a 14 year old, AT ALL.
#13 to #4 - anon (06/26/2013) [-]
Robb isnt suppose to look like he is 14 in the series. They intentionally made them be adults so that the plot would be less ... horrible to watch. Imagine a 12 year old Danaerys getting raped by a warlord on American television, hah...

what do you mean; take a seat?
User avatar #18 to #13 - andywazowski (06/26/2013) [-]
Well they could also just make them ******* shave, but i dunno if Rob and John got manly beards in the books, because if they have. Then it's okay i guess, even though it doesn't make any sense.
User avatar #83 to #18 - thedippestofshits (06/26/2013) [-]
like anon said, the series uses different ages. they don't just look older, they are older. Dany is officially 18 in the series i believe.
User avatar #16 to #13 - duudegladiator (06/26/2013) [-]
And the fact that hiring a CAST of children would be very expensive, along with having to work through Child labor laws like they do with Arya and Bran and Ricken.

Getting adults is waaaaay cheaper and gives them more time to work with.
#95 to #4 - anon (06/26/2013) [-]
They made them all a lot older in the show. Originally they're all around 13-16 years old, but HBO cranked that **** up so for example: Robb and Jon are 18 years old.
#136 to #4 - anon (06/27/2013) [-]
sir i uh, believe you mixed the numbers...
User avatar #344 to #136 - andywazowski (06/27/2013) [-]
It clearly says that John and Rob are 14 in the show. Unless you think the actors who play those roles are 14, because that is just more ******** .

#70 to #4 - mintea (06/26/2013) [-]
I'm pretty sure the show just raised their ages.
Also I think Robb and Jon are 16 in the books, not 14 (could be wrong.)

Besides, some people can just grow beards young.
Pic related, it's me, 16 years old. (Could grow fully since around 13-14 I think.)

For the time period those ages are actually accurate dumbass. If a girl wasn't married and 14 it was bad for her. Just the fact that HBO used such old actors for this was weird but they did it so we could relate more because the ages of the actor/actress used would be accurate(r) if this was in our time period. cool right

Lol wut? No she's not, atleast not in the first book.
User avatar #314 to #309 - mdmazing (06/27/2013) [-]
Book and film are never 100% the same. Perhaps she is like 13-18 in the books. But in the series she is 18+. How do I know this? Because we saw her tits. Multiple times. Therefor she is portrayed as a 18 year old or higher.
Sansa is around 14 in the series. Why didn't we see her tits yet?
1. She is -18 in the series.
2. She is also 17 irl, but still.. but there are multiple ways to show someone elses tits with everyone thinking. WOW THEY ARE HER TITS
And still we would see Daenerys her tits while she is 13? Nope.avi
User avatar #316 to #314 - erkaperkish (06/27/2013) [-]
Oh yea, I misunderstood the content, I thought that was the ages of them in the tv-series, not the actual actor age. That explains your comment, because obviously cp if she wasn't.

I know right. Therefor it is not possible for her character to be 13 years old.

God, this is Bleach all over again. You have 14-yearolds with beards and 11-yearolds with tits? THIS IS NOW HOW HUMAN ANATOMY WORKS! You're not supposed to have a deep voice and a ******* beard at 14. Some peoples' balls haven't even dropped at 14.

Hey, here's a thought. It's an alternate universe in which people are known to die incredibly young because of the Arctic-strength winters. Maybe humanity ages more quickly?
User avatar #89 to #60 - GnRNoD (06/26/2013) [-]
Also middle ages.
People died in their 30's it was normal for someone to marry at 15 and girls at 12... So it's not that uncommon.
User avatar #92 to #89 - makonendrak ONLINE (06/26/2013) [-]
We're talking about beards and boobs dude, not the legal age to marry
User avatar #139 to #92 - GnRNoD (06/27/2013) [-]
Yeah but a shorter lifespan might have made them become adults at a younger age.
#343 to #139 - loisp (06/27/2013) [-]
i'm afraid i have to disagree, good sir

1: In the middle ages the life expectancy AT BIRTH was about 30 years old, due to a high infant mortality rate. Then, when people were 12 - 13 years old the life expectancy increased to 45 - 50 years old aprox. So, if you got to became an adult the chances of dying at 30' were not high at all.

2. Due to a very poor diet, by that time the average age when a child reached pubescence was two years later than when a child does today. For example, the first menstruation for girls was at 14 years old, while nowadays its at 12 years old.
Now, my work here is done
