We've All Been Too Quick To Judge

Now that I' m writing a
book, I finally realize
why people write books
in coffee shops.
It' s not that we' re
retentions or trying to
impress anyone, it' s just
that you can' t quit and
start masturbating in a
coffee shop.

As an amateur novelist I can confirm that this is, in fact, very true.

Wow, Um, okay didnt expect this to get so many thumbs, for those of you interested I write a plethora of books all at the same time (the second biggest problem I have: Book ADD). I try to write in every time period (My current main three projects are a modern fantasy that mixes every mythology under the sun, a scify with a medieval twist, and a medeival fantasy).

I started writing four years ago and have been improving since then (thank the ******* lord) so my older work is not nearly as good as some of my newer pieces.

To answer Mehturtlesareok: No I haven't released any, mostly because I haven't found the time to finish any of them (I wan't all of my books to be a minimum of 300 pages)

If you all are really that interested my deviantart page is

You can find some of my character designs (I draw out all of my characters in order to get a better feel for them) and some segments of my novels that are currently in process. If you're SUPER-DUPER Interested after reading some of my work, send me a message on deviantart and i'll share the documents over google drive so you can stay up-to-date on my work as I write it, as well as make comments and suggestions.

That's really cool, I've been doing something similar I've been making this sci fi fantasy story for a few years now. I've mostly been building the lore and fleshing out characters, my original intent was to make it into a video game but now I realize how hard that will be, I don't know what other medium to use I've been thinking of web comics or animations. I'd share some of my character designs but I'm paranoid about putting my stuff on the internet, ****** be stealing **** yo. Even though I doubt my ideas are worth stealing but better safe than sorry.

That's why I post my stories to Deviantart, they let you use a Creative Commons liscence that protects your work.

Do you think you'll finish the modern fantasy one? Sounds interesting.

Eventually. The setting is a touch cliche but I think I make up for it in the rest of the concept.

The backstory is that all religions hold some degree of truth, but a gods power is determined by the number of their worshippers. However once the christian/muslim/judaic god gained so much power he became corrupted by it and cast all of the other gods down to hell. Satan, being part of the whole wombo combo of three religions, is the most powerful deity in hell, so on and so forth.

All of the creatures out of the mythologies exist as well, granted that the Angels are the only mythological creatures that reside in heaven.

So to the main storyline. The main character, Erik Barong (Almost every character has a name that relates in some way to their race/abilites) is a human, who's father is in the military, and as such they had recently moved. Due to overcrowding in Hell, many mythological families choose to live on the surface, disguised as humans. The previous owners of the home had been devils, but there was an error in processing that didn't register that they left, so Erik recieves a letter that's enchanted to provide the best excuse to attend the school. Erik is invited to attened a private academy called Helheim (norse for Hell) Academy, on a full military funded scholarship.

Long story short the school is a training ground for the mythological races to help them blend in with humans as well as fighting Angels. So the problem with Eric is that he IS human.

Eric's sole saving grace is something called a Fae-hunter gene. Its a gene that only triggers under high levels of adrenaline and exposure to magical energy that all Fae (mythological creatures) possess. It essentially highlights all of the weak points of a race in bright orange while Eric fights them.

Unfortunately for Eric, he has absolutely ZERO fighting experience, so... yeah.

Pictured is my first every drawing of Erik Barong.

Any tips for someone who considers getting into that writing thing?

My imagination is wild, always has been, figured I might aswell put it to use.

The greatest advice I've ever been given, though simple, is "Plan, plan, plan" and when you think you've planned enough, plan some more. make a timeline of the important events in the book and you can use your imagination to fill in the rest.

Also dont be discouraged if your first work doesn't come out the way you want, I've scrapped numerous stories.

I actually have some writing talent and I've tried writing **** . Every damn time, about halfway through I just say to myself: "Wait a sec. Why am I wasting my time with this when I could be fapping?"

Can't say I have writing talent, but half way through I just run out of ideas and I proceed to masturbate, as this post states.
