Uruguay is a country with 3.5 million people, it's a developing country and if he donates 90% of his salary and has about $1250 he evidently doesn't have a lot of money. All these dumb comments about corruption and all that ******** , if you've ever bothered to look at his interviews or anything like that; what he says etc.. he's not corrupt. He's the opposite, he's a real president and he's not so much for the country, he's for the people. I'm Uruguayan and I'm not saying this as some American or Western spectator, I know my country.

I like him.
He looks like the kind of guy you could have tea with and have a delightful conversation with, even if the buildings on fire.

He looks like the kind of person who just looks so ******* kind, and who just needs a hug.
#85 - foreverbalogna (03/04/2013) [-]
He just looks like a sweet, kind old man. Like a grandfather who would tell you stories, give you advice, one you would just want to hug.
I'd love to meet him.

It's one thing that this is reposted so often, but its another thing that I (personally) don't even see the funny in this..

This is how politicians should be. Paid modestly, enough to get by and live comfortably, and in it to serve. I hate it when politicians come on TV and say they're "public servants". Ghandi was a public servant. If public service means millions of dollars and limos, what greedy bastard wouldn't want to trick you into electing him. But take money out of it and you weed out all the crooks, leaving those who do it for the greater good.
#73 to #50 - punkrockdude (03/04/2013) [-]
The problem is if we don't pay politicians well, the average person won't want to take the job and we will be left with only the rich (who don't need to make more money) in office.
#75 to #73 - anon (03/04/2013) [-]
plus, they're just that much easier to bribe.

Because he knows what it's like to be poor...

All of our rich presidents hardly ever worked a ******* day in their life.

Well... The recent ones....
