I wish we could get theists to believe this was true, so that the internet would stop being polluted by people who don't listen to logic, reason, and evidence.

Hey, smartass, you do know that religion is based on the time that it was conceived, right? Do you also know the fact that religion tells us a lot about history, which is an important subject if we are to lead the future. You need to know yesterday to make the decisions that will change tomorrow today.
Next to that, there are religions that embrace scientific reasoning, but it still holds true that science MAY be false, as gravity is not always present, but the fact that we perceive it makes us believe that it is so. Start finding uncertainties for your certainties, and pick up a book on philosophy.

You should start to get an open inquiring mind, because yours is narrowed down to one single path, which doesn't work. Try to see a bigger picture.

Oh yes. Who can forget the historical event where someone lied about cheating on her husband and gave birth to a mentally defected kid who thought he was the son of his own imaginary friend?

Because Christianity = all religions right?
What about agnostics? Or Apathesism?

I never stated Christianity was the only religion, I merely chose the one I was most familiar with to disprove it with what only needed a single event.

The guy was stating something quite well, and you immediately jumped in and said the Christian story, even though he was referring to all, in a sarcastic tone which seemed to say he was wrong.

hurr durr I is a Atheist... bow to my wizardry of math, science, and logic... those dumb religious morons's brains is no where near the intellectual brilliance of mine... for I........IS...........ATHEIST!!!!!!!!

>> implying that 95% of the members of the National Academy of Sciences (the world's top scientists) AREN'T atheists.

>> implying that being intelligent means you're clearly over-estimating your abilities (which is a gross misinterpretation of the Dunning Kruger effect, which states that the more uneducated and stupid you are in any field of interest, the more likely you are to over-exaggerate your abilities -- NOT the other way around. This has been scientifically proven since the turn of the decade.)

So the best we have to offer are (in one tiny area) are Atheist... Hopefully you aren't such a close minded fool that you think that is the only area of brilliant people the world has to offer... Also you are taking the best of the group and making an unfair generalization of what it means to be Atheist.... Ok so .000000000000000001% of the world's population are brilliant Atheist scientists.... How many more people are failures that sit on the internet all day with nothing better to do than try and prove to strangers that they are more intelligent than others? Your argument is invalid and frankly pompous... you go out and collect "evidence" to make your jaded view seem valid when in reality you are wrong....

What argument did I make? I made no argument sir. What I did do however, is refute the fact that atheism doesn't automatically imply "full of yourself idiocy."

And if that immediately tells you anything, it's that being an extremely good analytic of empirical truth (the world's top scientists) directly leads them to question the existence of any omnipotent omniscient being.

You're right in one aspect though, that doesn't make all Atheists super brilliant scientists, but what it does do is state that the Atheist choice is a more intellectual one than not. If you see any atheists running around the playground of the internet shouting atheist rallies, I hope you see that most of them are doing so because they're advertising the belief (or lack thereof actually), not bragging of their own intelligence unless they specifically say so.

Dumb and smart men throughout the ages have fought for and against thousands of specific intellectual standings and beliefs, and that's to be expected. What we usually find though, is that wherever the most (and best) educated stand is usually where the truth lies.

Logic, reason and evidence are three things you rarely find on the internet.

True, but you DO find the band wagon effect quiet often!
