WHAT ******* COLLEGE IS THIS

Where I go, it's like 5 males to every female. Talk about a total let down.

Do colleges even have those anymore? All I got sent was mail from every college that wanted me and occasionally packages with stuff like pens in it.

I went to college because society says I have to. Also, being in major debt is the best feeling in world.

The thing is, I could go to a far cheaper trade school and end up with better chances of a career than what I have right now. It's okay, though. I really like college so I guess the experience makes up for everything.

If the education isn't worth it, the experience always is, and sometimes teaches you more than your studies would.

I agree 100%. This next academic year I will be studying in England and I am really excited. I would never have a chance to go abroad if it wasn't for going to college.

societal pressure is real think about it throughout school you're told you have to study and get the best grades so you can go to college and be successful get a good job and attract a good wife or husband if you're gay. Then you parents also tell you to get good grades and try to get scholarships etc .Then many women will only date a guy with a college degree. so obviously one can see these pressures and more would make a man feel he was being forced to go to college.

Learn programming first. Develop your own engine and make a game on it. Present that infronta of a game-studio. The'll likely hire you. The pay is about 60000-200000 euro per year.

One should focus more on other things that are more likely to provide stable income, and treat any such thing as game development as a hobby
User avatar #120 to #119 - lordhasta (06/07/2013) [-]
I strongly disagree.

One should do what he loves to do, I myself aspire to be a musician who makes a living just from gigs (not to be rich or anything).
I don't care if I barely make enough just to be able to rent a ****** appartment, it's something I love and I would chose that over some ****** desk job.
User avatar #121 to #120 - daentraya (06/07/2013) [-]
I dunno man.. I like to eat good food and have some money left over. My hobby is to draw and write, and hobbies they will remain. But if that's how you wanna live, I cant stop you
User avatar #125 to #121 - lordhasta (06/07/2013) [-]
I just don't think that's what life should be about, I understand that it's always nice to have money and do **** with it, but in the long run, I just want to do what I love to do and live with it. There's much more to life than trying to get a steady income by doing things you don't necessarily like that much (not that no one likes it, I just don't)
User avatar #129 to #125 - daentraya (06/07/2013) [-]
I see your point, but trying to make money off such a thing is really dahm difficult, and you may probably regret not having a job alongside it

game development is a thing that requires A LOT of passion.

if these comments make him turn away from game design, he wouldn't have made it in the first place.

developing indie games is excruciating. there's no way of knowing whether your game will sell or not and you'll be working on that one game for a ridiculously long time.

if you go to a big company as a game programmer, you'll be doing a lot of **** that you aren't actually interested in. you'll be doing projects that you don't like.
User avatar #141 to #66 - taintedangel (06/07/2013) [-]

User avatar #7 to #6 - ilovemyguns (06/07/2013) [-]
You can't find jobs with a degree either. I have my CASP and CEH and it took three months to find somebody willing to hire me with only a year of actual network security experience.
#11 to #7 - anon (06/07/2013) [-]
if you can't get a job, it's because you either aren't trying hard enough, or you aren't qualified enough. you have to be diligent.
#19 to #11 - fishingboat (06/07/2013) [-]
This just shows your own ignorance. Many people are looking extremely hard to find a job and stay off the welfare system, even if it means taking home LESS MONEY than someone on welfare. A lot of jobs aren't available right now, and work is getting hard to find in some areas.
User avatar #12 to #11 - ilovemyguns (06/07/2013) [-]
There aren't any availabilities in the area I'm qualified for. I want to do network security with the certifications I worked hard and spent money on getting. I'm not going to bag at burlington coat factory if I spent years working towards certifications or a degree. I would if I had to, but I eventually found a full time job in the field I wanted.

What if people just can't be without school? I am done with first year of highschool (10/12) and I got no ******* idea, what to do after I stop going to school. I already miss going seperate from friends I had in middle school and without seeing them everyday as I do in the summer, I don't know, what will happen after school. This is what you do.

Get a job for a year, enjoy half of it as a gap year, discover travel
While you're working, look online, try new things, try programming, learn biology, listen to basic finance or marketting, and whatever you wake to and feel like you will enjoy doing it (having tried for a bit) do it.

I started uni is mechanical engineering (what my dad did) I had everything for it. the mindset, dedication. I got to the courses, and it was ******* **** .
however i couldnt find a job, but i did the courses and turns out Computer science is the thing for me. $

good luck man, i hope we all make it

Since I got to college most girls there were either sluts, attention whores, etc, so I didn't really paid much notice to them. One day, in Spanish class, I met this girl, she happened to live in my same town, beautiful, smart, self respect, funny, many of the things I find attractive in a woman. Few weeks passed and without knowing it I was in love with her. Started talking, loved to make her laugh, wanted to be that one special person for her, as she was for me. Then one day she posted something on facebook. There was already a guy who knew her long before I did. She chose him, and I never got the chance to tell her how I felt. I still talk to her sometimes but I always wonder how it would have been if I had met her before.
