probably because heating up alot of water takes time and is ******* expensive. not everything is thought out and ****.

The reason the water was cold was because most of the sinking sets were submerged in tanks that were built in the ocean right next to the shoreline. The reason they didn't warm up the water (and let's make one thing clear, expense doesn't matter to James Cameron) is because the sets would have started steaming. After all, most of the sets were open and exposed to the cold nighttime air.

Luckily in between takes, they did prepare warm water for the actors to sit in.

Did you know movie writers don't exist? That actors are all just these amazing god people who flip a switch in their brains and become who they are actually acting, everything is always improv, and when someone gets killed in the movie they actually really die! They're just cloned after the fact by the powers that be in hollywood!

I've never seen one of these things that claimed the actors never know what was going on that turned out to actually be true, not only do the actors know what was coming but they did several takes of the boat scene.
