Looks like the dodged a bullet

If he hadn't visited the doctor that soon then it would've been over for him

when i was little i learned what
schizophrenia was from TV and for a
while i was really afraid because i
thought i had it since i always heard
my own voice in my head so finally i
told a doctor and he informed me
that what i was experiencing was
called thinking.

I have a different issue. Whenever I think about something I hard it in multiple voices similar to schizophrenia, but the voices speak as one and don't randomly say anything.

I never heard my thoughts as my own voice..just as thoughts. Saw this post and tried it out. I can summon the voice of anyone, in my head, now!

No TV and don't care to watch shows online. I mostly browse forums and play a select few video games, mostly strategy based. I do, however, love me some Robin Hood Men in Tights.

Like I've said before everytime a skill or trait comes to the front page everyone becomes a:

~ Doctor
~ Engineer
~ Scientist
~ Blacksmith
~ 3D Arts Designer
~ Programmer

etc

Meanwhile I actually put time in effort into some traits and are able to give answers to people in the best way possible. Also, for all those people in the comments also acting like they have disorders - trust me you don't want disorders. I actually unlike some here have schiz myself (although I've done really well with coping with it,) and trust me you don't want mental disorders. It's a trouble to your life and it doesn't make you unique in the cool sense.

My brother was actually diagnosed with schizophrenia way back when. He was poking kids in the back of the head with sharpened pencils. When asked why he did it, he said it was because of the voice in his head. boom schizophrenia.
Two years. Two years it took for them to figure out it was just him thinking.

Dated a chick with scizoeffective disorder.. One of my favorite experiences since she was always paranoid and depressed so I took it upon myself to prove my affection every chance I had and keep her happy.

This is so lovely. One post on a person thinking he has mental disorders and suddenly half of funnyjunk comes out explaining in ***** detail, every last piece of their own disorder and how it affects their life

I suppose this is why doctors warn people about self-diagnosis

I have schizophrenia. It's not too bad anymore. I think I inherited whatever in the brain that goes wrong that contributes to it from my mom. She used to talk to ghost and shadows and they always told her to kill herself. When I was little, like 5 to 9 years give or take, I was treated and they thought I was fine when I stopped going. Then later in life I didn't realize anything was wrong until around high school and I was really messed up for a while but I'm fine now. I just have different experiences with things and remember things differently. When asked about a certain events I usually tell my side and someone else who was present just has to correct whatever I say and I just have to accept it. I'm not like "A Beautiful Mind" schizophrenic necessarily, just some things are out of place and stuff. Like one time I was upset with my dad because he beat the **** out of me and even broke my dresser by slamming me into it. I was mad at him for a few days, and then he came back from being out of town on a business trip. Who broke my dresser? Most likely me I guess, but he wasn't even home that week. I'm just used to things that don't really happen, and I don't even try to explain them anymore.

Most of schizophrenia develops is the late teens. Even if it does develop in the childhood, it's considerably worse and much harder to treat. Not only that, but it's rare. Like 1 in 40,000 kids rare. It never goes away without lifetime therapy and treatment. You'd be a pretty messed up individual.
User avatar #59 to #22 - LiamNeeson (08/02/2013) [-]
Man you're lying. My mom has it, schizophrenia never goes away without extensive treatment of at least 5 years, and the doctors wouldn't stop treating you, because it requires constant surveillance, at least once a week, and that's after 15 years of treatment. Beyond that, having it at age 5-9 is nearly unheard of. Like, rarer than rare. And of that small percent it's extreme, like ******** crazy extreme. You would also lack basic social functions and you would have trouble in school.
User avatar #35 to #22 - electrozz (08/02/2013) [-]
My dad had it. It doesn't get better, and a random ****** up dresser isn't the kind of thing that happens. There is another thing that's kind of like it. It also involves a ****** synapse in the brain. I can't really say much about it and still be saying things that are fully confirmed fact.

This is one of those stupid types of things that everyone goes through. I get random bad chest pains sometimes (haven't really figured out what it is yet) and when I was little I thought I kept having heart attacks.
