It is open sesame because in the original story another guy tried to open the door by saying open barley and open rye and stuff like that. So it's definitely the food.

In the original 40 thieves story the password to their secret horde is say open and then some kind of plant, in this case sesame. The word sesame is also kind of a pun in Arabic because it sounds like sisime, although the meaning of that word escapes me. The first use of the pun "says me" was first used in a popeye cartoon if I remember correctly.

Pic semi-related

In the original story Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves it's "Open sesame", but in a Popeye cartoon which I think was called Popeye and the Forty Thieves he says "open says me"

On Swedish it is "Sesam Öppna Dig!" So it's Open Sesame. If it was Open Says Me then it would be "Öppna Säger Jag!" on Swedish

Open sesame; it was used in a story, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves I think it's called. The thieves hide their gold in a cave and the man watches how they get in (by saying "open sesame") copies what they did once they leave and begins stealing their treasure. Does this multiple times but in the end he gets caught and they chop him into four pieces and mount the pieces over the cave to deter others from doing the same. Morale of the story: mind your own.
