A story is told of a Jewish man who was riding on the subway reading an Arab newspaper.

A friend of his, who happened to be riding in the same subway car, noticed this strange phenomenon. Very upset, he approached the newspaper reader.

"Moshe, have you lost your mind? Why are you reading an Arab newspaper"?

Moshe replied, "I used to read the Jewish newspaper, but what did I find? Jews being persecuted, Israel being attacked, Jews disappearing through assimilation and intermarriage, Jews living in poverty.

So I switched to the Arab newspaper...

now what do I find? Jews own all the banks, Jews control the media, Jews are all rich and powerful, Jews rule the world. The news is so much better"!

How is having two moms or two dads going to destroy a country...? I support it because it might cause more kids to be adopted and getting those kids into better, loving homes.
User avatar #51 to #28 - douchebucketchamp (01/19/2014) [-]
If we legalize gay marriage the next thing you know people will want to legalize marriage with dogs. This is what the retarded people at my school say.
User avatar #45 to #28 - negette (01/19/2014) [-]
Because kids with 2 moms have a much larger chance to grow up with a mental condition, become gay themselves or commit suicide. They are not fit to be parents, a child needs a loving mom and dad to be raised by.
User avatar #50 to #45 - meganinja (01/19/2014) [-]
Look at all the kids who have never had a father. Please tell me it's worse to have two mothers than to have only a mother.
User avatar #53 to #50 - negette (01/19/2014) [-]
It's worse to have two mothers than to have only a mother because lesbian mothers tend to push an agenda on their child and force them into being effeminate, along with the child being much more likely to be screwed up. Having only a mother is bad but having lesbian mothers is even worse.

Look, even if that does happen all the time, that's still not as bad as a single parent. I'm not saying pushing a political agenda on a child isn't one of the worst things you can do, but I still think it's better than poverty caused by being a single mother. At least with 2 moms the person's in a loving family. I'd much rather somebody grow up happy and fufilled while also being a feminazi (for comparison, I do have a rather deep loathing of feminazis) than growing up as utter trash in a society that doesn't care for them where you'll end up with a disgruntled person.

Assuming that the mothers do that. I know a lesbian couple who's incredibly sweet, actually have a lot of conservative views, but had to move to Maryland to get married to be able to adopt. Their daughter is still young so I can't say how it turned out, but I know there's plenty of gay couples who have straight kids.
#150 to #58 - negette (01/19/2014) [-]
But you're wrong. Here's the statistics to prove it. Also, anecdotal evidence proves nothing.
#202 to #150 - Animalkilla (01/19/2014) [-]
and one of the only reasons for this is because it's so discriminated. because it's not "normal". I believe those statistics are true, imagine if you were a kid with bi parents, that's your world that you live in for the rest of your life and the only negative thing about it is that people discriminate. otherwise it wouldn't be a problem

Always look deeper. Read the statistics one by one. Don't let a simple color scheme fool you into thinking something different than what the statistics actually say. If you look at those same statistics you gave me, you'll see that homosexuals are more likely to find a relationship than heterosexuals. Notice how the chart refuses to color code that so you won't realize that kids from gay parents actually have a positive.

TL;DR: I find the bias of this almost palpable, but even so, should this study be true, I find many of the facts incredibly concerning at any rate.
User avatar #155 to #150 - meganinja (01/19/2014) [-]
A lot of those don't mean **** . However, the 'touched by parent' and 'sex against will' are incredibly concerning to me, provided that this is correct. Of course people raised by gay/lesbian parents are more likely to be homosexual or heterosexual. It's harder to come out as gay to straight parents than it would be to come out as straight to gay parents, as straight is the norm and should be expected. I'm not saying there aren't crazy parents who force homosexuality on their children, because I'm sure there are. For STDs, it's been a widely known fact that homosexuals frequently contract more STDs than heterosexuals. Due to the above fact of more of the children of gay/lesbian parents to turn out heterosexual, this is no surprising fact at all. Some facts are easy yet hard to explain. For Welfare, I don't know why the parents are more likely to be on Welfare, as I can't see any reason why. However, if the parent's on welfare, the child's more likely to be on welfare. Of course, welfare and employment go hand in hand so that 1 statistic just took up 4 facts. Infact, looking at the gay dad's list, seeing that so little children are getting welfare compared to their parents, it makes them seem like hard workers. Same with lesbian mothers as both categories dropped significantly percentage wise compared to standard family or single parent. Just because they're in the darker colors doesn't mean it's worse than the green colors, as after just one generation children who had gay fathers are less than half as likely to be on public assistance than their parents. But besides that, the fact that it dropped by a sizable amount across the board gives me significant hope for the future. Suicide is very concerning and that is another statistic I'll give to this chart, again provided it's correct, as I haven't seen its sources. Also it seems to be pretty biased due to only picking areas where the bio family is the best case scenario.

Can we take a break from arguing about gay posts and imagine what it would be like if gay people really *could* destroy a country? Terrorists in perfectly tailored outfits. It does in this case though. The Bible pretty explicitly states that homosexuality is forbidden, and many people will therefore feel that they have to follow their scripture.

If your parents have no problem with gay marriage, then (much as I agree with them) they are not strict roman catholics. But then again, who really are in this day and age? I doubt most Christians only eat kosher meat, never eat lobster and never wear clothes made of different threads.

If Democrats were really the pro-gay side, why didn't they pass a bill for federal gay marriage when they had the numbers for it? Because they thrive off of segregation-fighting and would disintegrate as a standing if they actually did what they 'stand for'. At least Republicans are honest about what they do and actually do it instead of feed off of their own supporters and never actually give them what they want.
#228 to #222 - kanadetenshi (01/19/2014) [-]
Are you seriously saying that republicans never feed off their supporters? If anything they are far more guilty of it. Just look at the flip flops of Mitt Romney once he got the chance of becoming president, or Reagan doing a complete U turn with taxes by raising them after promising to cut them?

You're right about the democrats but don't act like republicans aren't any more dishonest.

User avatar #232 to #231 - kanadetenshi (01/19/2014) [-]
Reagan was just as much guilty of it, plus Bush was a republican aswell only proving my point. You tried to make it seem like republicans are honest about their political views and don't conviently change it to gain cheap votes.

That's the most ironic thing ever said. You're arguing because you believe the divide between republican and democrat is real and not an artificial construct but believe the gay marriage issue is... They're both created by those in power because it keeps people from realising the real issues in the world. If problems at home remain or are created, then there will be no unity and no real pressure on the government to solve real issues.
