Heh. My automotive teacher told the class that one. Some of them were having trouble keeping the intake, compression, power, and exhaust strokes in line (for some reason).

He's also got the firing order for a straight six. (I forget the make and model it was used in... Chrysler I think.) 1-6-5-1-3-2 Execept he broke it down for us.

Cylinder 1 fires twice, 4 doesn't, seems legit.

Aaah my good fellow, that is not quite true!

There is no explosion in and Otto, Diesel or Wankel but the it is mistaken for an "explosion" which is actually a combustion! ;)

Yeah that is true, I was just keeping it simple so more people could actually understand what was going on, and see the connection between suck, squeeze, bang, blow :)

Admission, Compression, Explosion, Escape.
Otherwise known as Admission, Compression, Ignition, Exhaustion.
Or Suck, Squezze, Bang, Blow.
I was taught that when I was 13. I've been using it ever since.

I remember going to a Mazda dealership looking for a new car. The salesman overheard me saying I liked the looks of the RX-8, though I was more set on buying a Mazda3. He went on bragging about how cool the RX-8 was. I told him, Yeah, I'm not going to buy that car. My dad's a mechanic, and I know how unreliable and annoying their rotory engine is. The salesman responded with "Yeah, but the good news is we JUST replaced the engine, so you don't have to worry!"

MFW the car was only a year old.

a big issue with the unreliability of the rotaries is because they required a 10,000 mile break in period (stupid) people would just beat the hell out of them and rip on those engines before the seals set

haha it says "wank"

ACCIDENTALLY LEARNING!

kudos, so seldom does anything car related get thumbs here.

also: Mazda recently stopped making rotary engines for production. they're still producing and researching them, they just use more gas so it's an in house project now
User avatar #48 to #41 - indiankid (06/01/2012) [-]
they burn tons of oil too

I just watched this about twenty times to fully understand what was going on. Holy **** this channel is the best thing to happen to funnyjunk ever.

i think rotary engines were invented so that spanish people can bring them to race tracks and then do nothing but rev them up and be annoying in the pits. I'm just trying to have a cheeseburger between passes but noooooooooo i gotta listen to those annoying contraptions popping and farting until they hit their narrow powerband up at 9500 rpms or whatever ridiculous point in which they actually make power. You watch them stage, then they rev up to the point right before they should explode then when they take off its so anti climatic.
User avatar #23 - uppitywhitey (06/01/2012) [-]
rotary engines are cool and all, until they blow up after 10,000 miles. i do love rx-7s though.
