I don't dream, and I've been told I'm an ******* , a fag, and a dick. I am all of the above, so I can agree.
User avatar #95 - guidoforlife (03/10/2013) [-]
number one is ******** . We literally only sleep because we "feel sleepy".
User avatar #106 to #95 - AngryPlatypus (03/10/2013) [-]
Yeah... No. We sleep mostly to process short-term memories into long-term and to repair our bodies. You should do a little research before you start saying stuff like that.

That's even more ******** than the fact OP posted.

Who the **** is that... I swear I've seen him before.
#111 to #110 - joshofsouls (03/10/2013) [-]
I kid you the **** not... I have dreamed about him.
A few years ago, when we got in a car crash, I kept having nightmares.
And one night, I had a dream, a nice one, with THAT man in it.

I want to type it all out, but I don't know if it'd be interesting enough.
I'm gonna do some more searching online for this guy.

I generally don't dream, and as far as i know, I don't have an evil alter ego.
#92 to #87 - lesmiserables (03/10/2013) [-]
It can be caused by other things. You might suppress something or you may just be forgetting your dreams. You might have trouble with your love-life. Maybe you take drugs? Or maybe you just don't dream and that's it.
User avatar #114 to #92 - andriod (03/11/2013) [-]
Pretty sure I just don't.
Im mean, Ill dream every once in a while but not consistently. maybe twice a month.

I don't think im suppresing anything, and have a perfectly fine love life.

I would think that if I was forgetting them, I would at least remember that Im losing their memory. So I would remember I had a dream, but wouldn't be able to recall it.
#115 to #114 - lesmiserables (03/11/2013) [-]
No, you wouldn't remember losing the memory of your dreams, so you might just be forgetting them 90% of the time. But the rest is possible.

4) Actually, this isn't true. It's not a direct dreaming of the face - it's a dream of the concept of that face. For instance, your mind will make caricatures, change features to make it fit their personality better, etc. While you cannot make an entire face from scratch, and the base is always derived from an already observed face, even people you know very well often have distorted faces in dreams to fit your mental concept of that person.

6) Actually, before black and white photographs (television was a huge catalyst to it though), most likely nobody dreamed in black and white other than colorblinds. It's when it was commonplace to see black and white representations of the world that the studies were run for the first time. Of course if you are exposed to black and white worlds often, your dreams (which is a side effect of memory management) would reach a memory of your experience with a black and white only world (from that day, or as a reference for memory relocation) and be influenced by it. Because one of the most drastic pieces of information in that dream is the distinct lack of color, the dream would often take that as a huge piece of it's existence. Before/after that though, the concept of a black and white world rarely touches our minds, and therefore has little to no influence on our dreams (beyond distant memory)

14) Actually, many blind people from things such as strokes and degeneration are not truly blind. It's simply that their brain has rewired itself in an improper manner that the consciousness cannot recognize the sense any longer. In a recent study, blind patients were exposed to images of facial expressions. The sub conscious mind was able to identify the emotion related and cause the subconscious recognition of that mood. For instance, when they saw someone smile, the subconscious instinct to initiate a smile made the muscles associated with smiling twitch a bit. When they saw fearful faces, the muscles associated with frowning kicked on.

And yet the only reason scientists can see for us needing to sleep is that we feel sleepy.

im 16 and im lucky if i get 7 hours of sleep during weekdays
#96 to #76 - lesmiserables (03/10/2013) [-]
It's like getting enough vitamins. Nobody does it, but that doesn't mean that it isn't recommended. It's not a matter of life and death.
In fact, the "rules" of sleeping isn't that closed actually. Sometimes when I work day and night shifts, I sleep every second day, but for longer periods.
