Cool and all but it doesn't really answer the question.
User avatar #7 to #1 - threadz (07/17/2013) [-]
Essentially we could, but it would be slow, not very strong for it's size, and insanely expensive. Conventional weaponry would be more efficient and more effective for just about any kind of war.
User avatar #64 to #1 - skulldan (07/18/2013) [-]
no, the answer is no
User avatar #106 to #1 - FLCLol (07/18/2013) [-]
it kinda does
it says that to power the machine we would need an exponential amount of power
one that has yet to be made or discovered
so that is a negatory
i like this post for the soul purpose they included an eva from evangelion

"would require compact and powerful nuclear reactors or as-yet unknown energy sources."

I'm guessing that means "no" as well as the whole "strength does not scale with size" thing but that's what I got from it.
User avatar #109 to #14 - spankyy (07/18/2013) [-]
Only says this about the pacific rim robot though, but the other ones it doesn't really say if we could build them or not.
User avatar #4 to #1 - spankyy (07/17/2013) [-]
Exactly what I was thinking. It explains some problems with the biggest one, but doesn't really say whether or not we could build the smaller ones (the Neon Genesis one, or the Avatar one)
User avatar #24 to #4 - varrlegrimscythe (07/18/2013) [-]
Actually the EVA units are biological, not mechanical. In other words they were grown.

Ahh I see. Can we grow it? xD

DARPA is actually really close to creating an exoskeleton similar to the Avatar one. But last I heard it's still in the developing stages. They already have prototypes though that are pretty cool.

Aww yes, Zoids really needs a live action movie, or movies. They could make a movie following the storylinbes of the various shows or could create a new story...

and ya its the emperor class titan I meant to talk about, they stand arround 400 feet tall
User avatar #93 to #90 - konradkurze (07/18/2013) [-]
actually games workshop has kinda of assfuked all its 'facts' about titans....

in one account, in a book called 'storm of iron' somehow a warlord, despite it being less than half the size of an imperator, was able to headbutt an imperator
- and in the same book, the Imp used its combat weapon on a warlord and it was able to fight back a bit before it died - (well **** the saw is the same size as the warlord, what would be left of it to fight back?)

or in the horus heresy novels, one imperator titan was described as being able to carry an entire company of guardsmen in its leg bastions......
but then when the Imp is drawn it doesnt look that big
User avatar #94 to #93 - highclassbean (07/18/2013) [-]
ya **** be all over the place with 40k, I guess those are just the average size of each one.

The information on EVA is incorrect.
The Unit-01 is 80 meters tall, around as tall as Gypsy Danger.

Also, in the original NGE series, they ranged from a height of 40 to 200 meters depending on the situation.

Pretty sure MechaGodzilla is bigger than the robots from Pacific Rim
User avatar #29 to #28 - mechagodzilla ONLINE (07/18/2013) [-]
Or about the same size. Because the original Godzilla was about 160 feet tall, which means mechagodzilla was about the same height. The Jaegers are about 250 feet tall.
User avatar #31 to #29 - azraelthemage (07/18/2013) [-]
If you're going by the english dub of the first movie, he's over 200 ft. tall.
User avatar #32 to #31 - mechagodzilla ONLINE (07/18/2013) [-]
I like to think of Godzilla as a pretty huge son of a bitch. I tell my friends sometimes even as far as saying he's 500. But also, I have to accept that he's originally 160. That is his true height he was meant to be by the creators.
User avatar #33 to #32 - azraelthemage (07/18/2013) [-]
He has gone through so many reimaginings over the past 50 years (speaking of which, next year is the 60th anniversary), that I wouldn't be surprised if his height had changed at some point.
User avatar #34 to #33 - mechagodzilla ONLINE (07/18/2013) [-]
Uuber stoked for the movie next year. It would be badass if he was at tall as I hoped.
User avatar #35 to #34 - azraelthemage (07/18/2013) [-]
I'm just hoping that it's not what the '98 movie was. I heard that this is the same movie that was rumored to come out way back in '09. Just that an American studio picked it up after a while. I've heard that they wanted to pay tribute to the character this time. All my doubts would be gone if they would just release the trailer they showed behind closed doors at comic-con last year. All I can say is that the same studio that's making it made Pacific Rim. Pacific Rim was awesome. If they **** this up, the have no excuse because they made a monster movie one year prior.
User avatar #39 to #35 - mechagodzilla ONLINE (07/18/2013) [-]
I'm sure it will be badass. This director is a dedicated Godzilla fan, not like that ******** Roland Emmerich. Bitch ***** didn't even like the old Godzilla films. Yeah it was supposed to come out in '09, then last year and now for sure next year. I just can't wait to see what's in store this weekend at Comic Con to see the new design and hopefully a trailer.
User avatar #41 to #39 - azraelthemage (07/18/2013) [-]
Hopefully, they'll release the trailer to the public this time.
