the thing with the asians is asians tend to only "breed" if you will with other asians passing on superior traits down and these guys probably had average fathers but genius grandfathers the "genius" gene if you will is more frequent in asians since they tend to stick to other asians who possibly also have had geni(is that the ******* plural for genius well it is now) in their families
#281 to #201 - chuffberry (01/30/2013) [-]
we talked about the male-female thing in psychology. women tend to have more average intelligences, while men tend to have more extreme intelligences, be they extremely high or extremely low, but both average out to around 100. as for the race thing, one possible theory is the impact of environment on development. white and asian people are more likely to have come from wealthier households, and were therefore better nourished and intellectually stimulated.

SAT scores aren't really indicative of intelligence, just your ability to remember useless information from the past few years. I got an 800 critical reading and 770 math, but I'm definitely not a genius.
#25 to #5 - anon (01/29/2013) [-]
If you checked, the SAT has a .86 statistical correlation with IQ score. 0.88 on a -1 through 1 scale is considered significant.

#181 to #174 - anon (01/30/2013) [-]
It says that the Guiness Book of World Records states him as having the highest IQ.
That book isn't always right, they're just stating facts.
User avatar #186 to #174 - Hentaifan (01/30/2013) [-]
It only says that he's in the Guiness World Record book. You typically have to call them yourself if you want to challenge for a certain record, so that they can be there to confirm it.
It probably just means that the guys with the higher scores never cared about the record.
#189 to #174 - anon (01/30/2013) [-]
It says the Guinness Book has that, as we all know those aren't updated instantaneously.

My bitch mom took me to a psychiatrist to get me tested because she interpreted my ADD as autism. While I did get 'diagnosed' with ADD the tests turned out negative for autism. But it turns out I have a 138 IQ.
User avatar #291 to #89 - chuffberry (01/30/2013) [-]
same situation with me. i actually ended up being the only person in my family without autism, with an IQ of 136. my 10 year old brother has an IQ of 162 and last month completed his own computer gave server. i'm sure he'd be doing amazing things for this world, if he could only have the courage to talk.

I have an I.Q. of 119, and am currently a published author, making thousands of dollars worth of investment deals (most, if not all of which are turning out exceptionally well), writing research papers on how you can tell someone's place of origin, age, gender, and personality (on some level) all based upon HOW they type, and am currently writing a literal instruction manual to life and how to handle things (Chapter 1: Relationships, and half of Chapter 2: Fighting are already finished), and I'm only 18

It's not about how smart you are, but how you APPLY your intelligence. Life isn't going to hand you opportunity's just because you believe you deserve them, you have to go out and find them yourself. Think positive, look far, and get your ass in gear; you'll see very quickly just how great life can treat you
#202 to #194 - anon (01/30/2013) [-]
Well IQ isn't a measure of intelligence, it's a measure of potential intelligence; one's ability to learn, retain and apply information.
User avatar #214 to #202 - captainfuckitall (01/30/2013) [-]
Oh? I always thought it was a measure of Aptitude (how quickly you absorb and retain information). Knowledge (how much you know), Wisdom (how refined your intelligence becomes) and Aptitude combined all equal intelligence

I have a feeling you're not interested in my works, but more so if there's any truth behind what I say. I'm sorry to disappoint you, sir; but I don't have any personal books out; only short stories in anthologies (Gems of British Columbia: Volume 4) and another anthology coming out in a few months or so, courtesy of my local collage (Thompson Rivers University). I'm aiming to have my first novel, and book of short stories out by this summer

My name is Quinn Rae. A pleasure to make your acquaintance
#279 to #274 - thegreatmateusbear (01/30/2013) [-]
Stop saying "sir," the internet is ruining it via overuse. I wasn't suspicious, just interested. There's plenty of writers to scourge this Earth with ****** literature, because everyone thinks what they have to say is relevant. I wanted to make sure you weren't one of them.
User avatar #283 to #279 - captainfuckitall (01/30/2013) [-]
Indeed, I didn't want to sound pompous or anything, my goal was only to inspire one to take action, rather than hope action is taken on their behalf and blame whatever they can when they miss out.

For the record I've been saying "Sir" and "Madam" before the internet was even here, because I was raised with proper manners.
#290 to #283 - thegreatmateusbear (01/30/2013) [-]
Proper manners aren't about what you say. It's about what you do. It's always good to be humble and modest, better to show extreme humility than anything.

Learning languages isn't that hard at a very young age, because the brain is still developing rapidly. Plenty of people are bilingual or trilingual from an early age.
User avatar #231 to #100 - garentei (01/30/2013) [-]
I agree with Ruspanic, at the age of 4 I fluently spoke English and Spanish because my dad is American and my mom hispanic, this guy's parents most probably knew those 4 languages.

I did, it says 50% are between 90-110, 2.5% <50, 2.5%>130, and 0.5% > 140.

Now I see what you mean, that the 44.5% is divided between 70-90 and 110-130. But how? 1% 70-90 and 43.5% 110-130?

Since IQ distribution is normal, you can assume from the given data (although I'm not sure if it's correct) that 22.5% of people fall between 70 and 90, and 22.5% fall between 110 and 130.
#362 - comradewinter ONLINE (01/30/2013) [-]
Meh. Most IQ tests are pretty inaccurate. At one test I got 154, in another one I got 111, and in my most recent I got 122, probably all ******** as I guessed at a few questions in all of them. When you can leave some questions to guesswork it becomes pretty difficult to make a good measure of things. A better idea would be to state a problem and then have the subject come up with a plausible solution, not just check some boxes.

That being said, all people known for being geniuses have had their IQ measured by professionals personally, so the numbers can't be that far off, but for the general public, it's almost impossible to tell just how high your IQ is.
