...... I used to want to swim in the ocean at least once in my life, but thanks for changing one of my life goals with fear
User avatar #160 to #135 - elcreepo (03/16/2013) [-]
Actually the scariest thing in the areas of the New England Atlantic Ocean where people swim are crabs, and the big ones stay way out and away from people.

Dangerous things tend not to come too close to people. You'd have to go pretty far out to encounter one of those.

Its overrated anyways.

the low amount of chances to use that far outweigh the amount of effort one would have to put in to make that, and yet here it is *slow clap*

There is a squid, which can generate a light from it's body, which cancel out its shadow.
******* crazy!
#126 to #8 - anon (03/16/2013) [-]
well technically it's bacteria that generate the light and it only let's as much light as necessary to cancel out the shadow

#161 to #131 - biddo (03/16/2013) [-]
i have a phobia of water altogether....aside from drinking it or showering in it, but i can wig myself out just sitting in a bath tub full of water. ill swim in a pool as long as there is someone else in it also lol
User avatar #162 to #161 - craazhy (03/16/2013) [-]
for me its more about the ocean specifically

i cant handle the contrast between the biological mechanics of life here and there. it disturbs me. and literally just about anything you could imagine can fit in that **** .

I haven't heard or read a single case of an octopus attacking a human. I think you're safe, except from a jump scare.
