Ohhh, the ignorance. If the temperature raises just 1 degree, it could have terrible consequences. Don't be scared, just be ******* aware!

youre obviously ignorant about this cause even the littlest increase/decrease DOES matter. But i forgot the kid on funnyjunk knows more than all these other peopleZ with degreez

I am ignorant. I'll openly admit to that. But you'll notice this graph goes up and down. Like I said, if this information was available for the past several thousand years, and if over the past several thousand years we had no net increase after fluctuation, I might start to be scared. Just remember, the only purpose of any political agenda is to scare people into voting. All that matters in the end to these people is power. Environmentalism is just a means to an end.

I mean, in the 1400s they could grow grapes in Europe, one of the biggest green house producers are rain forest because of all the decay.

China who constantly gets mad at the US for environmental things is one of the worst offended. They burn so much coal in almost every city you cant see the sky. I have been there and the cleanest haze was in Shanghai because I could actually see the blue sky through some haze once. Not to mention how many migratory patterns they screw up with there transportation systems.

If you really want to make changes you need to start with china, because they are the worst offenders, and have 2B people

Actually, we do. That is why we can say with over 97% certainty that this is a natural process. Did you know there were next to no ice on Greenland when we discovered it bout a 1000 years ago?

Remember, that just two degrees is enough to rise the global sea level by 25 meters.

From Wikipedia: "This showed global patterns of annual surface temperature, and included a graph of average hemispheric temperatures back to 1400 with shading emphasising that uncertainties (to two standard error limits) were much greater in earlier centuries"

So basically, the error makes it possible that changes of this size happened in past centuries regularly.

And also, enough to turn most forests in the temperate zones into savannah. Soon, our backyards will look like Africa.

I'm pretty sure the description is a reference to Mass Effect 2 when Shepard punches the reporter with the line: 'I've had enough of your disingenuous assertions.'

You show me a democrat that denies climate change, and I'll show you a person who won't generalize republicans as climate change deniers anymore.

Duane Allen. Born in Taylortown, Texas, and is a member of a very well known Country Music group. He is a democrat. he used to be proud to admit that he is a democrat.....until late 2008.

He hates obama with a red-hot passion, and he does not believe in global warming.

Everyone's entitled to their opinion, and it's only human to try and make that opinion sound as officious and believable as possible, even if it's coming out of the mouth of someone with little to no education or real life experience. I'd bet half the people in this thread are under 18, they may be clever but they simply haven't had time to amass a proper wealth of knowledge.

The earths overall temperature changes in cycles from warm to cold over thousands of years. Having a chart that goes back only 120 years is like flipping a coin twice to have it land on heads both times, the hypothesizing that it will ONLY land on heads.

This is a very small sample of time to say that the earth is heating up due to global warming though. While it is getting warmer in this short period.... I cant be arsed finishing this .......

now just zoom out a little bit so we can see more than a very small amount of time that is 130 years

This guy, this guy gets it. The Earth's temperature jumps up and down all the time, over the course of thousands of years. Showing us 130 years proves nothing.

The graph isn't trying to prove climate change, it's showing how similar climate models are across the world.

but the global climate tends to change over time, the planet has gone from being covered in ice, to being a giant desert with only a few forests towards the southern equator, to being a forest filled with giant insects, would you blame those on human actions as well? the whole argument seems a bit like us trying to make ourselves seem more important, and whos to say the world didnt let us evolve so we could make more CO2 for it? maybe the world was a bit chilly so it left us to do as we wanted? its also as stated a tiny graph which shows nothing of the past millions of years of climate change.

True, the graphs are the same, but some people understand that the graphs don't mean **** while others think it's a sign of the end.

Exactly, everyone who looks at that and say's "Boy, we sure are ******!" is an idiot, just like anyone who looks at it and says "It's only 130 years durr, that's proof that global warming is a myth, and everyone who thinks otherwise is arrogant!". The reason it only shows the last 130 years is that it's a graph over recorded weather. Before 1880 humans didn't take periodic meteorological measurements.

The earths climate changes around every 600 years, going through ice age like cold sprees, and painfully hot warm sprees. In the dark ages they believed the wars and death were responsible for such high heats. In the early days of america, they couldn't explain why the rivers were freezing over.
So we aren't any fault in this, the earth does it on its own. It's a natural process.

temperature change does not prove global warming or the existence/effect of greenhouse gases. real scientists should be able to understand this.

Yeah, and the earth being warm doesn't prove there's a sun. But it's one of the effects. Any scientist knows that.

That's a pretty stupid argument.

The existence of greenhouse gases is not up for debate, nor is the result of the greenhouse effect (it's vital to life on Earth).
