The postmen need something to play with on their Sunday breaks
#83 to #2 - anon (04/22/2013) [-]
Just curious, how do you expect them to play with the packages when the entire post office is empty on Sunday?
User avatar #84 to #83 - iamtheblackgoat (04/22/2013) [-]
So they're not delivering, doesn't mean they're not in the office getting paperwork and **** done

He also threw it into a bush... so it would have a soft landing.

ffs he did nothing wrong imo.

It doesn't matter. He was being a ******* prick and I hope he lost his job.
User avatar #79 to #37 - mrhotwings (04/22/2013) [-]
He did lose his job. Apparently he was sick of his job or something like that and he decided to be a dick and started to just throw every fragile package as to make sure it breaks. I remember reading about that somewhere.
User avatar #102 to #79 - propanex (04/22/2013) [-]
good luck getting another job after that report on your record...

Sorry I must've pissed off 10 people with my comment above... Lol, like I care about -10 thumbs.

That's a very thin bush, the box would probably fall right through, and yes he did do something wrong. I remember when this was on the news, the owner said the monitor did have some damage to it. Even if it didn't have any damage, he did something wrong. You don't throw someone else's property because there is always the possibility of something like this happening.
#29 to #16 - anon (04/22/2013) [-]
except that's not USPS
User avatar #30 to #29 - darthblam (04/22/2013) [-]
Why does that matter?
#51 to #30 - anon (04/22/2013) [-]
Because OP was bitching about USPS not FedEx or USPS. Dumbass.
User avatar #103 to #51 - propanex (04/22/2013) [-]
I agree with you for once anon...
User avatar #104 to #103 - darthblam (04/22/2013) [-]
OP never specified on anything..
He was talking about mailed packages in general, anon just needs to calm down.

I work at FedEx, and the "correct" way to pack something is to make it so safe that it will survive a drop of 1 meter.
And us couriers at FedEx takes this to mean "It will survive being thrown into the car, as long as it's never more than 1 meter above the ground".
#82 to #11 - vinlandknight (04/22/2013) [-]
We need you courier.

I work at UPS, we have a similar rule. I work in the package service center (read, the box is torn so send it to me) where we have stacks and stacks and stacks of double corrugated boxes. They're basically bullet proof. Also, it's good to see one of my arch nemesis on the sight.

I don't think the other people get the joke. Probably because they do not work in the same building as me and you.

Sadly they are not forklift proof, which is why we send it to you!

UPS came few days ago. He gets to the door and drops the package on the floor, I open the door and he proceeds to lift the package and drop it at my feet. MFW a hard drive was inside that box.

Yeah if they are ever open, my local post office is open from 9am to 12pm and 2:30pm to 4pm. I bet they get paid more than minimum wage too, ******* ******** . (I get paid minimum wage and have to work full hours for it.)
User avatar #18 - AngryPlatypus (04/22/2013) [-]
I ******* hate the goddamned USPS. At least here locally, the people that they hire there couldn't put their thumb in their ass if they had an instruction manual.
#32 to #18 - anon (04/22/2013) [-]
Well, i can't either. I don't think I'm stupid though, it's my lack of thumbs.

I used to work at fedex as a truck loader and yeah packages are handle ****** , packages are always getting tossed and knocked around. But really when you have 2 or 3 trucks to load with a constant stream of boxes coming at you, that's what you have to do keep up up not get the line backed up. Oh and don't bother writing fragile on boxes, workers aren't obligated to follow any instructions written by the customer on boxes.

When I got it, the guy said "It got a bit bent"

The ******* thing was bent at a 90 degree angle.

Contrary to the popular belief, your package is not hand-carried from truck to truck. It has to go through an assortment of conveyor belts so it can be processed efficiently and delivered on time.

I worked for UPS, and it is very true, everyone loved chucking packages across the room to get them to the right car, not TVs and **** , that would be a dick move, but all the smaller stuff is fair game, only way to do it really.

Surprisingly, the drivers are probably the best with the packages, it takes years and years to be a driver to deliver packages, they get paid good too.

You have no clue, we have a tight schedule, we have to unload a plane with in 10 mins once it has landed, to get your luggage to your other plane or baggage claim in time so that you won't bitch about how long it takes. maybe you shouldn't be taking Fragile things with you on a plane and mail them. We just don't go HURP A DERP time to throw this bag. Work a day in my job and you will see what I mean.
#48 to #46 - pixx (04/22/2013) [-]
you're job is NOT to break the stuff labelled "Fragile" - my word -
#50 to #48 - anon (04/22/2013) [-]
MY job is to get your luggage onto your plane on time, and unload it on time, if you write fragile yourself on your luggage we do not have to be gentle with it, it's officially stamped and marked then we have to.
