Something I found on Cracked a while ago, it is worth a read.

This theory proposes that all the children on the show are actually dead, and the neighborhood they live in is purgatory. But then again, they said the same thing about Lost and it turned out to be ******** (mostly).

Why It's Not That Crazy:
For one thing, some of these kids already look like they're dead: Pretty much everyone in this neighborhood has weird skin tones or odd-colored tongues, like corpses might have.

But then there's the fact that there are no adults in the show: They're mentioned, but never seen. You do see vague silhouettes of adults on a few occasions, but they never move (yeah, that's not creepy or anything). The closest thing to an adult we ever see is Eddy's older brother, whom they meet the only time in the entire show's history when they leave their neighborhood/purgatory. However, the guy turns out to be a complete piece of **** , meaning that it's totally feasible that they were simply visiting him in hell.

TL;DR: They're all dead and live in purgatory.

Wait, when do they see Eddy's Brother? I could've sworn I saw every episode...
User avatar #301 to #187 - jeffklok (01/22/2013) [-]
Its in the movie, right at the end.

then explain 1. the episode where double d shows ed's and eddy's grades to their parents, and eddy is grabbed my his dad's huge arm onscreen, and ed has his ear pulled by his mother, also onscreen.

2. the alien episode
User avatar #302 to #239 - jeffklok (01/22/2013) [-]
Hell I don't know. I've never been to purgatory personally, I don't know what crazy **** happens there.
User avatar #55 to #51 - jeffklok (01/21/2013) [-]
Yeah it's similar to that, saying that all the kids died during certain years through history up to the present. That sort of thing

That little image of all of them with the years that they were from on top of their heads is exactly the same as the years of death in the fanfiction.net story, making me think it originated on /x/ (as the story states), and was put onto multiple different sites from there, but changed for cracked to fit the style of their article a little more.
User avatar #98 to #96 - jeffklok (01/21/2013) [-]
It most likely is the same theory and as you said, worded and edited a little different so it was in their style. Either way it's still a good theory, in my opinion anyway.
User avatar #43 to #41 - ThatsSoFunnyHeHe (01/21/2013) [-]
I've read the full theory.
It's long as **** and makes a lot of sense, oddly.

Wait, wasn't there an episode where they were all tattled on and the parents started retrieving the kids and at one point I swear there was a big fist that grabbed Eddy by the neck and jerked him away. Assuming it was his dad. Then a woman's hand grabbing Ed...

Maybe I'm trippin... but I swear I saw an episode like that.

You're not tripping, its k.
Mission Ed Possible, Season 5 episode 1a
The one about the report cards. Eddys dad and Eds mum show their arms right at the end, or it might not be their arms. Who knows.
User avatar #63 to #62 - toxickooties (01/21/2013) [-]
Okay cool! So the parents are real.. they are just never shown completely. Like in Charlie Brown the parents/adults were there but we never saw them only heard "Waah-wahwahwah-wah"

Or like in Cow and Chicken, we only saw the feet... but then it turns out there actually just feet O_O
User avatar #67 to #63 - jeffklok (01/21/2013) [-]
Well, it's not proven that it's actually their parents, it could be some other kids, or like eddys brother in the film just an older kid, no adults. No one truly knows :l but it's pretty cool to think about these things...well I think it is.
User avatar #70 to #67 - toxickooties (01/21/2013) [-]
Would a youngin' really have a big hairy fist? Or long red manicured nails? Plus, Edd's older brother wasn't even living there any more.

They all could have been Latchkey kids. Where the parents aren't home when they get home from school because of being at work.

It's not enjoyable reading such morbid stories about shows we grew up with as kids, I'd like to keep a somewhat positive outlook. But, that's just me.

Even though kids home alone a lot isn't very positive, it's better than sayin' they've all been dead.
User avatar #76 to #70 - jeffklok (01/21/2013) [-]
Well the hairy fist could have been some sort of bully with a defect where they had excessive/rapid hair growth, and for the nails, well, sluts are getting younger and younger, it could have been a kanker sister and ed didnt get a proper look at her.

It most likely is that reason, all their parents just have 12 hour shifts through the day so they dont get to see each other often.

Yeah, its not so enjoyable, I just like to read peoples theories behind things. Like Spongebob, they're all like that because its set where they tested nucular bombs, I'd rather just think they're all highly intelligent and can talk english.
User avatar #115 to #76 - shadeyyy (01/21/2013) [-]
Or.. It could just be a kids show. Your theories are completely senile, and are completely ridiculous.
User avatar #61 to #56 - shelii (01/21/2013) [-]
I think I remember that too. Then again, it has been about sevenish years since I last saw the show.
