Who was it for you?

Kinda interesting how most people did it but never talk about the figure you imagine running with you. As you get older the figure begins appear less often but he/she/it is still there with you. When you begin to drive that figure rarely appears and usually dies. However in your mind you knew he/she/it existed so you they never truly die but they simply stopped running, perhaps you're going to fast for them to catch up but they still try to run with you.

Mine was a skateboarder.

I find it really, really interesting as to why kids imagine this almost universally, yet as an adult these things quickly die out.

I imagined it was me. I had gained some powers that enabled me to run fast and jump far and superhuman strength like spider-man without the web.
after a couple years it evolved into a very interesting story/mental movie about a guy (imagined as me) who was born with powers that he didn't know where they came from.
He decided to become a superhero because reasons. After allot of fighting crime and adventures he ran into some ninjaish dudes who wanted him dead for unknown reasons which he promptly defeated some and escaped. He had many interesting encounters with a girl who had powers like him. For some reason the ninjas wanted her dead 2 so after a rocky start to their friendship (she tried to kill him first they met cuz she thought he was with the ninjas) they join'd forces. After one fight with said ninjas he was rescued by another group that wanted to protect him.
They ninja dudes that wanted to protect them told them of a legend of a 3 people who had gained an unknown power one of them tried to use that power to rule the world but the other 2 joined forces and destroyed him but not before he somehow cursed himself to be reincarnated with his power (not his memory or personality) every century, the 2 heros did the same so that every time the bad guy was reborn he their descendants would be their to stop him. The groups purpose was to identify these people and help them learn of their destiny. but the bad guy had figured out everything sooner and tried to have them killed with his ninja dudes who wanted to help the other guy rule the world (makes sense in my mind ). after alot of badass fights, drama, and character development there is a big ol final battle between the 2 and the bad guy with a dramatic almost failure on the heroes part but they kill the bad guy and yadayada the end. To this day I mentally rewatch this "movie" I made every time im stuck in a car. I even have a playlist on my phone with music that matches events of the story perfectly in order.

I imagined that the car was stationary and the road was one big conveyor belt. I don't know why.

I thought it was Sonic. And I'd see him dodging the obstacles at insane speeds but STILL managing to keep perfect pace with the car.

I was always imagining the possibility of my eyes creating lasers and cutting down everything that we passed, making all on equal level, even people.
At the same time, I'd always be thinking to myself that what I was imagining was bad, but then another part of my brain would jump in and begin reasoning on what possibilities there could create.
