Story time

>August 2000. Fishing with my dad at a lake here in my country (not 'muhrika), heard barking and noise behind us.
>This dog runs like crazy headfirst towards us, we knew she was in trouble.
>Scared the dogs off and protected her.
>Grabbed her by her collar (she had an anti-flea collar) and walked in the park for owners.
>No owners to be seen (in the whole **************** park)
>Was 7 years old back then, begged of my dad to keep her
>"Only if she hops in the car by herself"
>Opened the door, everybody walk the dinosaur (Just kidding).
>Got home, welcomed her there.
>Named her Lady (she was one well-behaved dog)
>"I promise that nothing will ever keep us apart" I whispered to this dog at least once a week for the rest of her life
>Ffw 4 months, mom leaves to work abroad
>Ffw 5 years of spending and growing and living with this dog, mom returns home
>Ffw ~5 more years, just before I reach 12th grade
>She was in big pain, blinded for 2 months... she still knew everything around the home
>One day I left home (without really knowing what was going to happen that day) and as I gently stroke her fur, I said "I know this might just very well be our last day together on this world. I hope you know that I love you and that no matter what happens I will always keep you in my heart".
>She closed her eyes and I almost started crying. She only fell asleep.
>2 hours later dad calls:
>"Chris ?" - Yes dad ? - "It's... over..." - WHAT ?! - "Lady... she gave her last breath... she howled once and then silence..."

... to this day I promise at her grave every day that nothing will ever keep us apart.

Did you not try to find her owner? She had a ******* flea collar on, it seems like you could have made more of an effort than just "walking in the park".

You took someone's dog away.

Asshole.

Damnit FJ, when I heard the name of the dog, I expected it to somehow tie into Lenny Kravitz. I've been here too long.

My dog was put to rest a month and a half ago. The last year and a half I had been mostly away from him being at college, but I got to see him over this past thanksgiving break. I saw the tumor on his head had turned black and I knew he probably didn't have that much time. I thought to myself though, Christmas break is so close, then I can spend it all with him as it might be one of the last times I got to. When petting him before I left to go back to school for the next few weeks, I kept telling myself this because I didn't want to think about it being the last time. My mom told me later that week he got real sick and that she had to put him down.

His name is Buddy Jake and we adopted him from a local animal shelter about 7 and a half years ago. This is last picture of him, right before he was put down. I miss him so much and I wish I got that last time to say goodbye...

I'm not even kidding when I say my dog's name was lady too. She was abandoned in a town house with no food or water for 3 days. the owners (who we ran into time to time as we were pretty much neighbors) had locked her in there when they moved away hoping to just throw away their "problem" . The landlord found her there and brought her home for a few days. We eventually adopted her when we learned what happened. She was scared of everyone and if you moved too quickly around her she would flinch like we were going to hit her. It took her a year or so to get used to my family and I, and another year or so to walk past a stranger on the sidewalk without hesitation. She was the best dog I ever owned. She met you at the door everyday always happy to see you, she was obedient and loved to please us, she was playful, energetic, and the gentlest dog i've ever met. We owned her for 8 years before we had to put her down 2 days after our thanksgiving in October (canadian thanksgiving) because of a tumour. She was the happiest dog I knew and I miss her and this post gave me a feel. R.I.P to both of our wonderful Ladys'.

Just a tip, you don't need to use a screen shot. Funnyjunk has pixlr editor built into its interface. There are three buttons near the content that say

"+Fav"
"Comment"
"Edit Image"<=====click this one
then click "Edit as comment"
then you can edit the whole content like it was in a basic version of photoshop.

Dunno if you knew that already, but I'd figure I'd share to make things quicker for you next time.

Adopted this sweet bitch from a shelter a few years back. Brought her home thanksgiving weekend. She had been keep crated for the first year of her life, and was/still is very nervous of people. She's very happy with us though. We never crate her, she gets scraps of steak and other things mixed into her food, and goes for walks regularly.
Oh, and she likes to think she's a lapdog and curl up on my lap :3

I adopted a back cat a while back, he had a frozen tail and was pretty damn skinny.
Even though he was pretty banged up he would still purr when you pet him or played with him so I took the little guy to the vet.
$550 dollars for a cat... Guess we'll live on Kraft dinner for a while.
He just got through his antibiotics today and has already gained a couple pounds.
He's not a fan of the "cone of shame" though*

Saved animals seem to know it, they are usually the most friendly and seem like they are trying to repay you forever.

<----That's my little buddy. He hangs out on my shoulders when I'm working now.

This dog, this bad ass of a dog here will always be my best friend. My family saved him from a lady that abused him and refused to feed him when he was just a little puppy. Because the dumb bitch never bothered to get him shots he caught parvo. My family did everything we could to save him and spent about 1,500 bucks. He pulled through like a champ and became a big part of our family. Fast forward to about 4 years ago. Family moved from America to Germany. I had no friends or anyone to talk to really, but Max was always there. We developed an even stronger bond than before and he became my best friend. Hell, he was the reason I made my first friend (my neighbor). Now fast forward to just a week ago. He had been getting some minor hip problems since he was old, but out of nowhere he can barely walk and get up. Family says we do not have enough money to take him to the vet and that he might just be dying. **** that ****, he might be about 12 but he was perfect before this. Get the money so I can take him to the vet. Entire time mom keeps saying its just old age and it's his time. Vet takes x-rays and says its just bad arthritis and some bones trying to fuse on his spine and says it's easily treatable. Suck it mom. Gives a **** ton of medicine for my dog for joints and pain relievers. Within two days he was walking, a bit stiffly, but walking and even wagging his tail. Again, this dog pulled through like a mother ******* champ. Cost me a lot to get him what he needed, but I would spend even more if it meant helping my best friend. This dog means everything to me, if he died then a big part of me dies as well.

So suck it mom, this dog ain't dying anytime soon.

hells ya dude. we have 8 mini schauchizers (4 at my house, 2 at my grandmothers, and 2 at my moms). they are all family, with bear being the farther to all.. and pepper (bears wife) the mother to all but 2. lilly (the mother of hte other 2) died after birth...

anyway... bear got into the trash and ate some moldy deer meet. he would not eat, drink or anything. after 3 days we took him ot the vet... we though he was jsut sick. said his liver was shutting down.

we have to give him bile (the stuff made in your liver) for a ******* grizley bear and other pills. it cost 1500 bucks, but was worth it.

another time the slavia glands in his mouth got infected. bloody slime was pouring from his mouth. another grand later, he was fine!

im the type that wants to die alone with all the pound dogs and cats eating my dead body when the police find me 5 days later.... ******* love dogs and cats lol.

this is my dog buttons, I have her for three years now and I got her from an animal shelter

she spent her whole life on a puppy farm until the I.S.P.C.A rescued her
when I first got her she was shy and stayed by herself, now she can't be alone and when no one is in the house she sleeps on our dirty clothes because they smell like us

I couldn't imagine my life without her, she kept my nana comfortable and occupied and made her feel safe whilst she was on her death bed

it makes me feel sad when people abuse and abandon these beautiful creatures that are filled with love and affection
