To everyone, this is a paradoy of a TV show called St. Elsewhere.
Literally the exact same ending
User avatar #21 to #19 - redtooth ONLINE (07/25/2013) [-]
Actually, I think it's just a hypothetical scenario of the ending of Fosters' Home for Imaginary Friends. But I might be wrong.
User avatar #22 to #21 - dreigamos (07/25/2013) [-]
it works for this, but seriously, google the show St. Elseware, the ending is literally the same, even the quote about autism, it's just that someone realized how well it works for fosters so put it into a comic.

They even have the kid with a snowglobe, he goes to wash his hands for for dinner and it zooms in on the snowglobe to show it's the building (hospital in the case of the the show)
User avatar #23 to #22 - redtooth ONLINE (07/25/2013) [-]
Ah, I see. I didn't watch the show so I didn't think there were THAT many similarities between this comic and this.
User avatar #24 to #23 - dreigamos (07/25/2013) [-]
it's fine, it was an old show, i only know because some one actually said it on one of the many reposts of this content, so i just reposted a comment really

Im fairly positive Autism almost NEVER gets that bad....

In fact I dont think autism could even cause something like that.
User avatar #8 to #7 - zarallyn (07/25/2013) [-]
It doesn't

I do this, I have autism.

correlation does not imply causation
User avatar #10 to #7 - brigettasandra (07/25/2013) [-]
www.autismspeaks.org/what-autism

"About 25 percent of individuals with ASD are nonverbal but can learn to communicate using other means."

Some medications used to control the repetitive self-harm motions many sever autistic persons display render them further unable to externally communicate; thus leaving them trapped in a world understood separately from ours.
User avatar #14 to #7 - skorne (07/25/2013) [-]
The author of this likely didnt know much about mental diseases, and incorrectly used autism. The takeaway is the same though.
User avatar #33 to #7 - notapancake (07/25/2013) [-]
Well, isn't autism people who "escapes reality" or something like that?
I could be wrong
User avatar #45 to #7 - RisenLichen ONLINE (07/25/2013) [-]
My brother is 13, has autism and is pretty much like that. He never outgrew it, or still hasn't. He can't speak a single word.
User avatar #12 to #7 - actinglead (07/25/2013) [-]
It does get this bad... but it usually is at a very young age that most people out grow...

I have severe autism and I did not communicate with people properly until I was around 12...
User avatar #30 to #12 - drhard ONLINE (07/25/2013) [-]
Well Ive been diagnosed with Aspergers, got the diagnosis when I was 14 I believe. And I actually still dont communicate optimally, to put it one way. I absolutely hate to talk to people, especially those I dont know or trust. I dont like to ask for help, and in alot of cases I dont even like to get up to ask a teacher to go to the bathroom if it means the other people in the class will look at me.

User avatar #60 to #30 - actinglead (07/25/2013) [-]
I was/still am like that. I just do not act like the quality that is show in the cartoon anymore...
User avatar #32 to #30 - zomaru ONLINE (07/25/2013) [-]
Not to lessen your condition, but I've been diagnosed with nothing more than AdHd and at 19 I still can't talk to people very well, small talk is nearly impossible. And I refuse to ask for help because I don't want to be treated as if I need help, even when I do. I'm just sayin, I don't have your condition, but I know your pain.
User avatar #62 to #32 - drhard ONLINE (07/27/2013) [-]
Well actually, to be more precise I have Aspergers and ADHD.

Full diagnosis on both, ADHD at 12, Aspergers at 14-15.
#44 to #32 - anon (07/25/2013) [-]
Adhd isnt so bad. Most of my frends love me because my adhd makes me so creative. So instead of sitting around and doing nothing, meet new people and tell them things about yourself but you should start off with "I have adhd" or else when you tell them that once you got a potato stuck on your ceiling fan they will run away. I'm not saying that this will al happen magically but find someone else who has adhd and talk a bit. Use them as a stepping stone.

ACTUALLY!
Madam Foster imagined Frankie to help her with all her in-house chores.
(Hint: Madam Fosters clothes are just older versions of Frankie's)
User avatar #40 to #13 - darthblam (07/25/2013) [-]
ACTUALLY!
No.. that's just a fan's idea..
In fact it was proven that's incorrect as there's an episode that shows a photo album of Foster being young and growing old as a young Frankie shows up and grows up.
User avatar #56 to #40 - mrfishie (07/25/2013) [-]
Oh well, it's a nice idea.

Actually, being happily married, on disability and doing nothing but screwing around all day, community service every few days, ******* , eating and sleeping.... I'd say I have it pretty good and I even give back to the community.
