why cant the father just accept the fact that is son is maybe a bit of a geek who maybe doesnt want to go out at night, and just love him for who he is?

I see what you're getting at, but you need to live a little.

I think it's okay to spend excessive amounts of time doing what you want, but you need to go outside sometimes, meet people.

>Be 13
>See a new kid in my english class
>No one is talks to him and he sits there, quiet
>One day I start talking to him
>He starts getting picked on
>I stand up for him every time I see it happening
>He invites me over to his house one day
>Meet his mom, we go into his room and he starts telling me his life story, his dad abused him so his mom divorced him and moved a few states away
>A few weeks later, we start becoming great friends
>He was still being bullied, I still stood up for him
>Go over to his house one weekend
>His mom comes to the door, crying
>She tells me that he killed himself because he was being bullied outside of school, anytime anyone at our school saw him they bullied him
>Read the note he left
>Flip over the note to see a part written to me
>"Dear (my name), I'm sorry. I couldn't stand it anymore. I wish they would have listened to you when you told them I wasn't any different and didn't deserve it. You don't understand how much everything you did meant to me. I could never repay you for the stuff you did for me. I'll miss you and I hope you can forgive me."

Try making some friends. Here's how: TALK TO THEM. Once you actually be friendly, then you won't have to worry about stupid **** like that. Also, if your dad is crying because you're an anti-social, either you're going waaay out of your way to be an anti-social yet somehow convincing yourself that it's not your fault, or your dad needs to realize that some people are perfectly happy being alone and not having friends.
User avatar #47 to #42 - fishtacos (05/05/2013) [-]
There are two general types of people in the area of socialization: Introverts and Extroverts. Introverts are the type of people whom enjoy being alone as opposed to going out and being around other people. This doesn't particularly mean that they hate social interaction, but they are perfectly happy and healthy with being alone. There have been numerous studies that overwhelmingly show that there is nothing physically or mentally wrong with being an introvert, it is simply modern society that ceaselessly pounds into the minds of every human that those who are are introverts are either mentally unstable or miserable. This is the farthest from the truth. Introverts are not head cases, they're simply a majority.

I used to do the same thing, except I had many friends starting out in my hometown. After I moved to another town, and attended a new school after my parents got a divorce, I used to cut class all the time and just hangout in a lonely cubicle at the library. I'd only go to one class and if the library was closed, I walked home. I called it home but it was a half-way house, because we didn't have a house yet so that's where we stayed, with other families who were abused and **** . So I spent my days In that lonely ass library during school hours. That same year I met a guy who was really popular and he was a new kid like me, but he was social unlike me at that time, and he'd always check up on me on facebook and ask where I was whenever I didn't show up to class. He was actually really cool looking back, and he invited me to Maine, where he used to live to chill with his crazy friends. And there was this really nice girl who always wanted to befriend me, and she wanted to take me on a tour around town. It was a saturday morning and she said it had to be a quick one because she had ballet practice. I just assumed it was a prank because she was so nice about it. I still went anyway cause I had nothing to do. I went late, and I see her on a bench waiting for me. And it was so cool because she was actually genuinely happy to see me. I moved again to a town a train ride away from my hometown and reconnected with my old friends. Met some new friends too. Idk where I'm going with this. Some people aren't as lucky as I was to find these people. I'm greatful how **** turned out. But there are cool people out there. You don't have to be lonely and you don't have to wallow in your own sorrow. Sorry for the novel *****

My parents asked me why I didn't go out that much. When I asked them for rides, they started complaining about how it took so much time to drive me places. Parent logic.

For some reason I read it as in bathroom browsing 4chan and playing Minecraft. I was so confused at first.

Stay in at home, parents ask why I'm not out with my friends.

Go out with friends, parents complain that I'm never home anymore.

Logic.
