OR
stay with me here

You could actually, you know, go out and make a friend.

I don't think you realize how difficult it actually is for people with no friends or social skills to meet new people. Even to try is difficult. I've recently somehow gained a huge group of friends, but there have been long periods of times where I had no where to go. Summers where I had no friends and no places for social interaction to make friends. I got into many arguments with my parents about me being home all the time. I honestly can't tell you of a worse period in my life, and I doubt anything will ever be worse than that for me.

I'm probably gonna get thumbed down for this but whatever
I was there too. I managed to turn it around.
I went from being a 70 pound beta with no life no friends that lived I'm my basement with my books and video games, suffering crippling social anxiety and a complete lack of people skills. I've experienced lows that very few people have.
Now I'm 6'2'' 185 pounds in pretty damn good shape. I have several very close friends. Two college degrees, and a military career.

In my opinion if you want it bad enough. You can overcome anything. Even if it's yourself.

Some people can, some can't. It all depends on your personality traits.

I can forgive that.
What I can not forgive is refusing to even try.

Not everyone wants to try, some people are satisfied with their only friends being thousands of miles away.

jk, but the first step is always the hardest. And chances are those persons tried before, and failed hard.

The most despicable type of person I've ever encountered are the ones who let failure beat them.
I see this kid and I see someone who gave up. That is disgusting to me.

Maybe that's just me though. If he wants to sit in the parking lot alone and feel sorry for himself. I'm not going to stop him. Maybe that's just what makes him happy.

Dude, don't be a retard. That whole Rocky attitude of "getting up after being knocked down" is kinda ********.

Not every single person on the planet has the willpower to overcome problems. If it were that way, we'd have no crime or suicide.

Making friends is hard as **** for some people. I'm sure you're the most successful person on earth, with your blue name, sitting on funnyjunk all day.

I know it is difficult for some people. In my town there is a nice local coffee shop with wifi. I'm sure there is something similar around most people's areas. You can go there, play minecraft, WoW, LoL, whatever. Eventually someone will want to talk to you about it and you could become friends. It is worth the 2-5 dollar investment in a drink, and it won;t be all that different from staying at home.

because maybe the father was popular when he was his age, and he feels that his son isn't living life to the fullest and that maybe it's his fault as a failed parent to get him into a sport or something to raise his self esteem

For all we know the father could have been crying for a completely different reason. But If he was crying for that reason I think he did accept it and just wants a bit more for his son.

I see what you're getting at, but you need to live a little.

I think it's okay to spend excessive amounts of time doing what you want, but you need to go outside sometimes, meet people.

I see what you mean. Very good explanation. I guess a good moral would be "do what you love, but try a little bit of everything"?

As a person who has tried and experienced both of those things, I can unequivocally say that going out and meeting people is vastly overrated.

I got one for you guys.
>Be 13
>See a new kid in my english class
>No one is talks to him and he sits there, quiet
>One day I start talking to him
>He starts getting picked on
>I stand up for him every time I see it happening
>He invites me over to his house one day
>Meet his mom, we go into his room and he starts telling me his life story, his dad abused him so his mom divorced him and moved a few states away
>A few weeks later, we start becoming great friends
>He was still being bullied, I still stood up for him
>Go over to his house one weekend
>His mom comes to the door, crying
>She tells me that he killed himself because he was being bullied outside of school, anytime anyone at our school saw him they bullied him
>Read the note he left
>Flip over the note to see a part written to me
>"Dear (my name), I'm sorry. I couldn't stand it anymore. I wish they would have listened to you when you told them I wasn't any different and didn't deserve it. You don't understand how much everything you did meant to me. I could never repay you for the stuff you did for me. I'll miss you and I hope you can forgive me."
I will never forgive those ******* for what they did to him. I miss you Josh. I hope to see you again one day buddy..
