Life choice

roads "
diverged ,
in a yellow
wood. 'Greg
I could not
travel both...
and be
one traveler,
long I stood
And looked
down one as
for as I could
Ta where it
bent in the
undergrowth.
Then took
the other, as
just as fair
And having
perhaps the
better claim
Because it was
grassy and
wanted wear
Though as
for that the
passing there
Had worn
them really
about the
some,
And both
that morning
equally lug
In leaves
no step
had trodden
black
Oh, I kept
the first for
another dag!
Yet knowing
how wag
leads on
to wag
I doubted if I
should ever
come back.
Ishall
be telling
this with
a sigh
Somewhere
ages and
ages hence
Two roads
diverged
in a wood,
Hack the
one less
traveled
and that has made all the difference.

If anyone doesn't get it, It's saying that the obvious choice is the University path because you end up with a nicer chair

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood.
And sorry I could not travel both...
I stared to the ground for a bit, and stood
undecicive as any gamer would
knowing the outside is what i loath.

I looked around the forest scene.
The sky, a bright blue dome,
ontop a wondrous sea of green!
I then recall my computer screen.

So basically it isn't important which road in life you choose, it is important to walk it till the end without regrets.

This actually completely misses the point/theme of the poem. It's not about the fact life can have 2 choices and either one is acceptable, it's about making a choice that no one else has made, or no one else has done. It is about making a unique decision and getting rewarded in life for your individuality in making a choice.
User avatar #226 to #207 - iputsomeusername (12/15/2012) [-]
I disagree. haven't read this poem before, nor worked with it when I attended high school english classes, so yeah... But I believe it is about a grown up admitting that even though he is telling his children (or grandchildren) he once made the smart decision (road less traveled by), he himself knows that he back then in his youth did not know, which path was the wisest. My main argument for this, is that Frost in the beginning lays great emphasis on stating that the roads seem equal, when the character inspects them in the woods. Also, that the character sighs while speaking of his decision = He knows he is lying in stating that the choice was easy etc.
#241 to #207 - Rascal (12/15/2012) [-]
This actually shows the point of the poem exactly. It means that no matter which road you take, as long as you follow it thoroughly and faithfully, you will be rewarded.
User avatar #220 to #207 - Siphus (12/14/2012) [-]
Actually its not. The very first few lines make it blatantly obvious that both paths are equally trodden.... aka: there is no less traveled path.

What hes saying is that in the future, he'll let out a sigh (a sign of dishonesty) as he tells the story of how he blazed his own trail, even though its complete ******** . The poem is actually a story about being completely ordinary.

Oh for ***** sake, he's trying to say that there isn't one set road to happiness. That there isn't any tried and true way to find joy. And that the right person can find peace and contentment no matter where their choices take them.
#31 - brnoflynn (12/14/2012) [-]
Now read it with the thought that this poem was written about anal sex!
#67 to #31 - enorus (12/14/2012) [-]
Now that's my kind of poetry.
#236 - Cambro (12/15/2012) [-]
Oh my God, as an English major I am astounded that someone has actually interpreted the poem correctly! If you actually examine the poem it says the two paths were "equally tread" and really were "worn the same." There was no difference in the roads! The poem doesn't mean that every decision and turn is immense, it means a life is a story of a million choices where happiness can be found down any path or road. Finally, someone did not sentimentalize the **** out of this work.

Holy **** I sang a song based on that poem in Choir last year.

This brought back memories of how horribly the freshman treated and disrespected the awesome student teacher.

I hate high school.

Do you remember what the name of the song was? I have vague memories of singing a song in chorus that had similar lyrics back in my school days. Always loved it, don't remember the name.
#247 to #237 - Loststorm (12/15/2012) [-]
I believe it was from a collection called Frostiana.

I sang another song from that collection for All-State choir a couple years back.
