You're an asshole, and the word "athiest" in your name is unneeded and makes you look like a douche, you make athiests look bad.

Get over yourself, this was a really good movie. I enjoyed it the whole way through.

There were no subliminal messages. You're just frustrated that the Bible wasn't depicted as the horrible bane of humanity so that you can feel good about yourself.

What's ironic is that you're conveying a subliminal message by posting this. Scratch that, it's not subliminal. It's quite obvious you despise the Bible and anything that doesn't give it endless **** .

inb4 red thumbs, but "The Book of Eli" was a ******* awesome movie. One of the people I hate the most is named Eli, but I was able to get over that speedbump.

what I saw- a post on FJ
what I expected- average content
what I got- some teenage idiot that thinks he is too good to watch a great movie because it doesn't portray the bible as a tool that the apparently nonexistent Antichrist uses to eat babies.

its a good movie, and if you can't get over the fact that the bible is shown as a tool for hope in dark times then you don't deserve to watch it.

Very good film, Was it just me who didn't find it extremely preachy?

and how is a blind warrior transporting the last remaining bible (which is in braille) across the country, only to have it transcribed by reading off every word from memory, and fighting d bag wannabe warlords along the way not badass?

As an atheist, I thought the Book of Eli was a great movie. It wasn't preaching religion so much as demonstrating the power it can have over people, to either negative or positive effect. Top that off with some awesome action sequences and you've got yourself a winner.

So let me get this straight, you are mad at a movie for talking about the power religion has over people during dark times by using the bible when it was created in a Christian society. Plus it had a great story line and action scenes. And you are bitching about it by riding on the coattails of the newest FJ trend.

The concept of the Bible having such an impact on people was cool I thought, but the one that's revealed the end of the film just seems a little silly to me.

I actually really liked that movie.
I'm an atheist.
Sorry for not being a pretentious douche with a stick up my ass against religion.

I'm an Atheist and I LOVED The Book of Eli. Yes, the story is heavily religious, but even though I don't necessarilly agree with the message, I can stand from a distance and appreciate it.
