How do people on here even talk to NPC's from Caesar's Legion? It seems they already hate me from like the second I start the game. They turn hostile as soon as I walk into one of their camps then I have no choice but to kill them and I fail certain quests...

1. You can't have boone as your follower. 2. You can't be wearing NCR armor or brotherhood armor. 3. You can't have commited any crimes against the Legion.

If you want to get your legion rep up real quickly, slaughter any NCR you see and avoid the Legion until after you enter The Tops for "They Went That-A-Way". Then, Vulpes Inculta will contact you and give you the Mark of Caesar, allowing you to enter The Fort. This will allow you to do quests for the Legion.

Too weak? Pfft, toss a grenade, use VATS like a shameless whore, outsmart them, hit them in the arm with a ******* sledgehammer, mines, sniper.

Basically, don't try to take them all on at once without an explosive and you'll pull through.
they aren't very good fighters, honestly.
User avatar #142 to #137 - hauntzor (01/29/2013) [-]
I guess that trumps my *********** strategy of Fat Man'ing them, which doesn't work too well to begin with either.
User avatar #78 to #56 - Marker ONLINE (01/29/2013) [-]
If they already hate you, have Boone with you and just kill every single one of them. I cleared out Cottonwood Cove and the Fort, and slaughtered everyone in Caesar's Tent with a few frag grenades (while still being able to leave Benny alive).

True enough. If that's all you meant, then you are entirely correct and my comment is null and void. Also, it's really hard to come up with bear related puns that fit the context

Everyone says that the legion is better but, I don't know I like the NCR better. They are a little to ambitious and can be dicks sometimes, but the legion may not much longer (Marcus in Jacobstown says this) and the NCR has a bright future. And I would rather be this guy than fight him.

In any case, bro... NCR has most of the support, I find it hard to find Legionnaires such as myself.

BITCH! THE BROTHERHOOD IN THE C.W. HAS A BRIGHTER FUTURE THEN THE NCR!!
User avatar #235 to #188 - trostell (02/06/2013) [-]
You know, the D.C. Chapter of the Brotherhood of Steel would likely work WITH the NCR to defend the lost technologies and the people around them. The D.C. Chapter is far kinder to the wastelanders due to their unique circumstances, being cut off from the rest of the Brotherhood, having to survive by dealing with what the other chapters call "savages". The NCR and the Brotherhood share a common goal, ensuring safety for those around them.
User avatar #237 to #235 - MaelRadec (02/06/2013) [-]
yet they are on 2 different sides of the US wasteland thus their progress is independent meaning that sooner or later they both will expand their territories and when they clash i don't think the NCR will welcome them with open arms due to the last war they had with the brotherhood.
User avatar #240 to #237 - trostell (02/06/2013) [-]
If it does come to that, and the NCR rejects the DC Chapter's offer of peace, then the NCR will have to deal with Liberty Prime, which, by that time, will have been repaired and replicated. Imagine just 11 more Liberty Prime units going into a battle, the NCR's army would crumble before it. In the end, they will have peace, but the DC Brotherhood has the firepower and the technology to overcome the NCR's superior numbers. Even though I'm for both sides, that's just seeing things realistically.
User avatar #241 to #240 - MaelRadec (02/06/2013) [-]
well i'm sure that not only they would have repaired Prime, they would have improved it and pretty much repaired the Adams A.F.B. ... and not to mention when they uncover a way to get to orbital nuke station... everyone is BONED if they do
User avatar #242 to #241 - trostell (02/06/2013) [-]
The problem is the DC Chapter of the Brotherhood is, again, more open to peace than hostility, as opposed to the original East Coast Brotherhood. They would save those orbital missile strikes until they were the only option left.

Doesn't the brotherhood lack manufacturing capabilities?
User avatar #262 to #261 - MaelRadec (02/28/2013) [-]
presently yes, but if they do have the motivation to start spreading their influence i don't think it would be much of a problem for them.
#263 to #262 - fuckincanuck (02/28/2013) [-]
but they would have to compete with a far more developed industrial power when they met the NCR and then you run into the same situation the germans had fighting on the eastern front. The NCR would be able to overwhelm the brotherhood through force of numbers. buut everything im saying is moot if their are orbital nukes lol
User avatar #264 to #263 - MaelRadec (03/01/2013) [-]
Exactly and i think by the time they do run in with the NCR i am shre that they'd be equal in numbees and technologie

User avatar #246 to #236 - doodogger (02/07/2013) [-]
Yes, in the mission where you protect the NCR president, he arrives and leaves in a vertibird.
User avatar #247 to #246 - trostell (02/08/2013) [-]
I honestly don't count unarmed VIP craft as suitable vehicles for combat. That, and the fact that a B-29 is faster and more heavily armed than a Vertibird.
User avatar #248 to #247 - doodogger (02/08/2013) [-]
The b29 can go about 360mph. But you have to consider a lot of helicopters of today can go over 200mph. The vertibird is technology much more advanced than today's. I wouldn't be surprised if the virtibird could go as fast as the b29. Plus, the vertibird can be armed, and flown around the battlefield. It is more maneuverable. You could use it as a gunship, a dropship, etc... I'd go with the vertibird.
User avatar #249 to #248 - trostell (02/08/2013) [-]
To be considered a vehicle fit for the President, it must be unarmed, with the weapons replaced entirely with countermeasures. The Vertibird is actually quite slow as it's not capable of VTOL and it's shape would cause too much drag to fly quickly. Vertibird armor is also incredibly thin, as they can be easily destroyed by small arms, so imagine what the M2s in that B-29 will do to it. Also, I've never seen a Vertibird fly very high, I think they may be incapable of flying at high alititudes, unlike the B-29, which was designed for that purpose. Since it appears the NCR only has one VIP vertibird, specifically for the President, it's unfit for combat as it cannot be armed with weapons, it's interior, being modified for the god-damned President, is too small to hold many troops or their gear, and it's too slow to avoid incoming fire. A Gauss rifle would knock that Vertibird out of the air, where as the B-29 can avoid it by simply doing what it's supposed to do, fly high.
User avatar #250 to #249 - doodogger (02/09/2013) [-]
Fallout 3, I think the NCR has a bunch of vertibirds. Plus, wouldn't a presidential vertibird need to be heavily armored?
User avatar #251 to #250 - trostell (02/10/2013) [-]
The NCR isn't in Fallout 3, that's the Enclave and the Brotherhood of Steel, the Enclave has all the Vertibirds, though the ones you don't wreck are commandeered by the Brotherhood of Steel, and those are combat-dropships, not VIP transports like the NCR Vertibird.
User avatar #252 to #251 - doodogger (02/11/2013) [-]
Oh yeah. Well we don't know for sure if the NCR has heavily armed vertibirds. Both the b29 and the vertibird have their uses.
User avatar #253 to #252 - doodogger (02/11/2013) [-]
