Petty little insults. Nihil novum sub sole. All who are not Legion are "Dissolute." They live in squalor, unrestrained by morality, lacking moderation, temper, and self-control. Their very existence is a blight on the common good. Even worse are the Profligates, the subtype of Dissolute one finds this side of the river. They hold themselves to be civilized, when in fact they are corrupt and self-interested. The truth will be made clear to them soon enough. To enslave them is to save them - to give them purpose, and virtue.

I really love fallout and currently playing New Vegas , I love the interactions in the game and how every little thing is connected within the game itself which is great.. You get to experience the most horrible and painful things and choose to make it better or for worse. Its a game where you can learn and understand how intriguing characters are. Like Joshua Graham and Christine, the connections are unbelievable great. Great writers.

New Vegas was way better than Fallout 3. It just felt much closer to the original two games.
User avatar #14 to #10 - barryscott (12/05/2013) [-]
Really? I couldn't stand it as it was unplayable and it lost its atmosphere from Fallout 3,and that is what made Fallout 3 special.
User avatar #15 to #14 - thewaronbeingcool (12/05/2013) [-]
The bugs were bad, but they got patched eventually. And Fallout 3 was pretty glitchy too.

And the whole atmosphere to Fallout 3 was dumb. It's like 200 years after the bombs dropped. There's no way it'd be that desolate still.
User avatar #16 to #15 - barryscott (12/05/2013) [-]
I literally couldn't play Fallout New Vegas for a while due to crashes, and when I finally got a chance to play it I just skipped past all the deathclaws and into New Vegas. The Fallout 3 atmosphere is somewhat rare that's probably why I enjoyed it so much.
#29 to #16 - Dadhhg (12/05/2013) [-]
I don't know, to me it felt like another grey and brown shooter, it also felt empty in a way, unlike New Vegas everything was dedicated solely to the player, there weren't things that one would find in a normal world, one with needs for the people, to me it felt fake, I can understand why some people liked it, but it wasn't for me,

And what Bethesda game didn't start out glitch as hell
User avatar #184 to #29 - jaggedherp ONLINE (12/06/2013) [-]
This is why I'm worried about Fallout 4. People who worked on the first two made New Vegas. Bethesda is making 4. Now, nothing against Bethesda, they just can't make atmosphere for **** . There was no long term survival in Fallout 3. Building a city around a bomb with no natural water sources nearby? Not having any sort of farm (except for republic of dave, literally the only location in the entire game that could survive for a long time. It just felt kind of lazy on their part. They did nothing to make atmosphere. It isn't everything in a game, but it's nice. Also, somebody's going to say "Well you can scavenge for food/water" not after 200 ******* years you can't. ****** gone, and if it isn't then not enough people lived to take it, meaning the current survivors shouldn't really exist.
User avatar #250 to #184 - xxTheJesterxx ONLINE (12/06/2013) [-]
Personally I way prefer Fallout 3 atmospheres over New Vegas. The deserts of New Vegas felt too empty to me, and I got bored fighting cazadors and coyotes all the time. Now, NV was still awesome nonetheless, and it without a doubt had great parts. The super mutant mountain home, to the airports and military bases, to small abandoned towns could be sick. But usually I just felt like there wasn't much to do, and the quests in particular felt much less memorable and satisfying than Fallout 3. After fighting alongside Liberty Prime, fighting in the arena in The Pitt, to traversing across Point Lookout and ambushing rednecks, to fighting through the White House, I just felt like things were on a more epic scale. Now, of course, I somewhat went to extremes when comparing the two, and again, both were great to me, but I felt like Fallout 3 had an environment that offered more in terms of diversity and also pure fun. Both 3 and NV had their upsides and downsides, at the end of the day. I can easily see why huge fans of 1 and 2 would prefer NV, because it definitely has a similar style. But I really can't begin to understand why you would think 3's atmospheres were that bad. I look for more in a game's atmospheres than just realism, and gear more towards how cool the idea is. I like the idea of living in a broken down aircraft carrier, or a massive skyscraper, etc. While living in a little western town isn't that appealing me (granted the Vegas part is definitely a cool aspect). Anyway I wrote way too much, just my opinion really.
User avatar #270 to #250 - jaggedherp ONLINE (12/06/2013) [-]
The atmosphere I was referring to was the surviving a post nuclear holocaust world atmosphere. No one was surviving in Fallout 3. They should all be dead, except for people living at the republic of dave. There's no survivability. No new food, most towns aren't near water sources, you can't eat the animals because what do they eat? There's no grass. The toughest, most resilient plant on the earth and it isn't growing, which makes no sense because fallout 1 and 2 had grass and trees. Bethesda didn't care about the setting I should say. They made the game and put very little into detail, especially compared to the first two.
User avatar #271 to #270 - xxTheJesterxx ONLINE (12/06/2013) [-]
I see what you mean. I don't really think it was quite as much that they didn't care about the setting, just they didn't really put as much attention to the aspects you're talking about. Now, the thing is, I played Fallout 3 as my first Fallout, and then my some stroke of luck I found Fallout 2 in my brother's old game collection. So of course, I was already somewhat biased towards liking F3 more, so I'm more quick to defend it. I think that instead of putting their efforts into realism/true to the old games, they wanted to introduce this totally new setting to Fallout to give it a new tone, if that makes sense. In a way they kind of threw away a bunch of the styles of the older games and implemented their own. I don't know, I suppose I never really viewed it in terms of how likely this or that would be in the case of a real apocalypse, and plus, like I said, I played 3 before any other Fallout, so when NV came out and it seemed to draw a lot from the older two games, I couldn't really appreciate it as much. Despite 3's inaccuracies, I still feel like there was massive attention to detail, but again, not in terms of realism. To me the game still nonetheless felt like a huge, fulfilling, convincing world.

Again, both games do this. Plus, my favorite character of both games is Arcade, so I personally think New Vegas has better characters.
>The atmosphere, environment, story and other characters sucked.
Dead Money had a better atmosphere than all of 3 combined, the only character that actually stood out to me as a better character than NV's is your father and Three dog, and I personally much prefer a story you can craft yourself, over one that is very linear.
#198 to #189 - fargtwo (12/06/2013) [-]
I like F3 more than New Vegas almost solely because of the atmosphere. New Vegas didn't feel like a nuclear wasteland one bit, no matter how hard I tried to pretend it was one. It felt like a desert with a serious wildlife problem. And the actual city itself is incredibly underwhelming. DC on the other hand was gloomy, foreboding and actually looked like somewhere that had been nuked.
And I found all of New Vegas's endings very disappointing. Either you, who has no idea how to run a city ends up in charge, practically guaranteeing anarchy and the further collapse of the thin veneer of civilization or you hand Vegas on a silver platter to a bunch of incompetent bureaucrats who think the system that failed last time will work this time or a bunch of barbarians who believe the same thing but with a different system and have a fetish for repeating history. Name one of those that sounds remotely satisfying.
"By getting to see the results of your actions" I meant how you get to continue playing and see what happens after you activate the purifier. You see aqua pura being sold to ghouls, supply caravans carrying water. Meanwhile in NV you get "Congratulations player! You [INSERT CHOICE HERE]ed New Vegas!"
>Better characters
Who are Fawkes, Jericho, Moira, Moriarty, and DOGMEAT? Hell, the damn random wastelanders you find selling crap on the side of the highway are more likable and have more character than 90% of the people in New Vegas.
Keep telling yourself that New Vegas is better. I'll keep enjoying not playing nuclear Cowboys and Indians.
User avatar #209 to #198 - nathanbiggs (12/06/2013) [-]
>New Vegas didn't feel like a nuclear wasteland one bit
That's the point, only 9 nukes hit the Mojave and the surrounding areas. It's not meant to be a wasteland on the same level as the Capital Wasteland
> And the actual city itself is incredibly underwhelming. DC on the other hand was gloomy, foreboding and actually looked like somewhere that had been nuked.
I agree about the city itself, they could have at least connected all of it. That considered, I still like it more than the actual city of DC in 3. The walls of debris and a lot of locations relying on subway tunnel travel got on my nerves after a while
>And I found all of New Vegas's endings very disappointing. I like those ideas better than "it's your destiny to become radioactive goop"
>Hell, the damn random wastelanders you find selling crap on the side of the highway are more likable and have more character than 90% of the people in New Vegas.

Im waiting for them to do something with Florida. Point Lookout was sweet, we have the Everglades. Plus what they could do with Kennedy Space Center, Homestead Airforce Base, maybe make a Robco "Disneyland." They were going to do something there in Fallout Tactics 2, but the game got shelved. They even had Mutant Crocodiles in concept art (Which I believe would make deathclaws look like *********** .)

i also forgot i too would hate it to be in san fran too hilly most of the rubble would be a giant pit however if during the bombing the san andreas fault finally gave out and it was based on the island that would therefor be created that wouldnt be so bad plot however besides keeping it afloat is at a lose for me

well i think itll be close to where 3 was cause the guy who plays ThreeDog was aloud to go out and tweeted "To all my #Fallout3 and #ThreeDog fans: There may be more of the Dog coming! Okay... lets use the process of elimination.
Fallout 3: East Coast
Fallout 3: New Vegas: Do I need to say? West Coast.
Fallout 4 (If they even call it 4): Probably in the Mid East. Maybe in Iowa or something. If it was in Michigan, seeing all those broken down factories and ******* mutants would be awesome
User avatar #56 to #40 - ehzio ONLINE (12/06/2013) [-]
OOOOOH if they do it up in Michigan, then we get to see snow!! EVEN MORE WE GET TO SEE HOW THE RADIATION AFFECTS IN THE SNOW!!!

I want Fallout 4 to be in the North
User avatar #82 to #56 - kievaughnb (12/06/2013) [-]
Radiation just sits in snow. You can see that if you watch videos about Chernobyl.
User avatar #97 to #82 - ehzio ONLINE (12/06/2013) [-]
No no no, that's not what I meant. Yes radiation kind of lies dormant in the snow, but I mean what has the radiation done to the local wildlife.

As you can see in the older Fallout games, 3 and New Vegas included, all of them were in a climate that is suitable for warmth.
So you would see animals with less fur, more skin, bigger eyes, and would have more surface area. All of these are suitable for life in a warm climate.

Whereas in the colder area, you see more fur, more fat, and smaller eyes. Also they would be very big due to the amount of fat/muscle needed to be stored in order for them to survive. This is where I want to see what the radiation does to them.
User avatar #99 to #82 - emopandaxox (12/06/2013) [-]
yeah itd have to be in an area not effected by too much radiation but still effected by war hopefully its away from radiation so they can take away that stupid green filter

I like you idea, but there is a flaw with it. Alaska is a winter wasteland, and your idea takes that literally. But Alaska is massive, the population density and distance between points of interest would be too far apart to carry on a story. And yes there are lots of ways you could counter that argument, but in Fallout history, Alaska fell to China. Now my Fallout knowledge is lacking but unless Alaska was never nuked and the Chinese decided to carry out a mass colonization of the area, then there just wouldn't be enough interesting things in the same area. Sorry to shoot down your idea.

Alaska would be dope, I forget the name of them but the one bee things that like to **** **** up instead they would be wasps and they suck your blood and you have to shake the controller to get them off of you, but the more they suck your blood the stronger they get. ******* hate Alaska, why is everything so big there?

So you make a big fuss about a Fallout post earlier stating the whole series is outdated and garbage, yet never even herd of the latest one? Listen here man, you need to play this game, it'll change your opinion. Sure, all Bethesda games are slow at the start, glitchy as **** , repetitive conversations, and its all kind of confusing off the bat. I'll give you that. But if you put some time into this game, give it a chance and immerse yourself in the story, you won't play anything else for weeks, or even months. Plus since it came out in '10, you should be able to find a copy relatively cheap nowadays.

Or you can tell me to bugger off. And I will. To play more Fallout NV.
Also epic related wallpaper for all.
