Jonas Salk chase not to patent his 1955 polio
vaccine, making it more affordable for the
milling of people who needed it.
As a result, he missed out on earning an
estimated billion.
Thank you, Dr Salk (1914 -1995).

* a jew who didnt milk the **** out of something for money
* a doctor who actually cared about people who could benefit from his work

he may be dead but he still deserves a nobel prize

Are you saying doctors don't care about helping people?
User avatar #20 to #13 - konradkurze (08/08/2013) [-]
they care as far as shoveling drugs into them to slowly heal them over time and make money off them, with the hope the patients will be required to continue using the drugs later and make money for the pharmaceutical industry
User avatar #34 to #20 - konradkurze (08/08/2013) [-]
im not saying the drugs dont work, im just saying doctors are nice and quick to prescribe them when the drugs only carry part of what the patients need and if they ned something else they prescribe them another drug to cover that

>implying he couldn't have patented it, and sold it at the same cheap price
competitors would still have to compete with his product's pricing, keeping the price reasonably low
User avatar #15 - pepemex (08/08/2013) [-]
He should have patented it. his descendants would be filthy rich now.

"His sole focus had been to develop a safe and effective vaccine as rapidly as possible, with no interest in personal profit. When he was asked in a televised interview who owned the patent to the vaccine, Salk replied: "There is no patent. Could you patent the sun?""
