Some people were intrigued and appalled at how bad of a GM I had for Numenera. So here’s some more stories of Josh, the GM from Hell
>Friend plays a Tier 5 Nano, who focuses on fire attacks and all that jazz (He really wanted his character to be like Chandra from MTG.)
>Friend rolled a 1 and lost his weapons.
>”Meh, I still have my fire attacks.
>Enter the abandoned factory
>”All of the monsters seem to be fire-retardant.”
>Have the lowest intelligence because Glaive
>However, I have an edge of 3 with intellect to help me in sticky situations.
>Fighting an angel
>Was 2 off from my roll (I was told I needed a 15 or higher, I got a 10 with an edge of 3)
>GM decides to make the angel specifically attack my intellect so that I can’t use the edge for the rest of the battle.
>The angel only does 5 points of combat damage, “But 8 points of intellect damage”
>GM allegedly feels bad for killing my Chinchilla and Dog.
>Has a pack of wild chinchillas approach the party, one for every member.
>Only one party member accepts the chinchilla, the others abandon theirs.
>I lock the remaining ones in a cage and set it on fire.
>The next morning we find out that the one party member who kept the Chinchilla woke up to it eating his face off
>Had to pay up the ass to heal him and get him a new face
>Literally drained all of the parties funds.
>Tells us we need to get a spaceship for a legacy weapon
>”None of us have the money for that.”
>”No, but you have something Wolfie.”
He does something called “GM Intrusions” where your only options are to “Accept” or “Deny”
He does not tell you what the Intrusion will do
He gives you next to no warning so if you weren’t paying attention he doesn’t explain what previously happened (I.E. if you were writing in your character sheet and weren’t paying attention to the story.)
In order to Deny the GM Intrusion, you have to pay 1 XP. The only way you get XP is from the end of sessions when he gives it out.
If you Accept the GM Intrusion, you get 1 extra XP, however you are literally at this bastards mercy.
His GM Intrusions have included.
>Shooting innocent bystanders to provoke a riot
>Sneezing during a stealth mission resulting in the whole party being caught.
>Opening a door on a plane causing the entire party to be rocketed out at high speeds, nearly killing us all.
>Forcing us to have sex with NPC’s
>Forcing us to rape NPC’s
>Forcing us to align ourselves with someone we don’t want to (There’s a rebellion going on in one of the big cities we visited, and we all wanted to just get our **** and get out, taking no sides. GM intrusion prevented this.)
>His GM Intrusions sometimes affect the whole party, so if only one person lacks the XP to Deny it, the whole party is forced to accept it.
>Friend of mine is a Tier 5 Jak, really wants to get to Tier 6 but the ******** amount of GM intrusions he has to deny every game plus the meager amount of XP the GM gives makes it nearly impossible for him to do.
>He actually had EXACTLY enough XP to tier up, but wouldn’t because that would leave him vulnerable and essentially puppeted by the GM for the whole session.
I actually left the group today, I had had enough of his ******** and I called him out on it in front of everyone.
>He GM Intrusioned me , forcing me to have sex/ perform acts on this NPC that sells spaceships.
>Notice that he is the only one in the house, and he keeps all of his keys to his shipyard in the house.
>Devise to slit his throat and steal a ship (I’m specialized in Piloting)
>GM tells me i’d have to Nat 20 if i want to “pull that ********”
>Nat ******* 20
>Steal the nicest ship he has to bring back to the party.
>”I said GM Intrusion.”
>Forced to accept because I have no XP
>”You realize that the ship is being targeted by a heat seeking missile.”
>Barely survive the perception check to find a parachute
>Barely survive the speed check to make it out.
>Crash onto the ground with 1 remaining Health.
>”See what happens when you try to be a dick?”
After that incident, I just ripped up my character sheet and left. I thought the point of D&D and other Tabletop games was so that you can define the story yourself, and not be forced through a ****** up fantasy of your GM.
The reason nobody else left with me is because all of them are too new to Numenera to understand that this is not a normal thing. So all of them still play because he has been their only GM, and they just assume that that is how Numenera should always be.
I guess I’m just gonna sit in my room and suck at LoL, which is what I did before this whole travesty occurred.
