Uh, this part here on page 3.
Is that 1d6 a typo, or is it normal for 5ed classes to have different sizes of Hit Dice in their progression?
Never really played 5ed, but thought it was worth pointing it out.

From looking at the cap, and thinking of common sense, it would be a typo.
BUT, it appears that the hit die changes to a d10 at level 10, so it may actually be intentional.
tbh this seems like something where you'd need everyone playing the class or no one. It doesn't seem like it would mesh well, and it cuts out a good portion of the way most progression is metered out by the dm.

Yes the different classes have different hit dice but, the d6 seems to be very small for a bit dice.

I don't think a single class can really cover the huntsman from RWBY very well unless you made it like the generic classes from unearthed arcana with a bunch of options every couple levels.
I mean, just look at the main 4, You've got Yang, a heavy hitting brawler with a rage ability, Blake, an agile stealth assasin, Rwby a quick AoE burst DPS, and Weiss an elemental wizard.
Every one of those characters feels like a completely different class.

Honestly I don't think 5E is the right system to do something like RWBY, maybe look at re-tooling Mutants and Masterminds. That system has a lot of cool opportunities to make a very unique semblance for your character.

I think if I were trying to make a RWBY setting I'd start with an aura system.
I'm thinking something like a character who unlocks their Aura has an amount of Aura equal to their Wisdom + Twice their Constitution + Three times their Charisma (Basically saying that the depth of a persons reserves are based on their will power, bodily health, and spiritual energy)
All Aura wielders can use it in two ways
Aura Body - Whenever a player would take damage they can choose to use their aura to absorb the blow, negating an amount of damage up to 1/4th their total aura at the cost of 1 AP per damage negated. If this damage would be enough to drop their current AP below 0 they take the remaining damage normally and are dazed for 1d4 rounds.
Aura strike - When declaring an attack an aura user can project their aura into it. An Aura wielder can spend up to 1 AP per level + their Strength modifier when declaring an attack to gain +1 to damage per AP spent. If the Attack misses they are refunded half the ap spent rounded down.

Whenever a player runs out of aura they become exhausted. A 10 minute rest will leave them fatigued and a 8 hour rest will restore half their total aura.

Then putting feats that let them use Aura for a variety of things like
Aura dash - Expend aura to increase move speed
Aura magic - Convert Aura to spell slots
Titanic strength - Expend aura to temporarily increase strength
Strength of will - Bonus AP equal to your wisdom
Force of nature - Bonus AP equal to your constitution
Boundless spirit - Bonus AP equal to your Charisma
Iron wall - Brace yourself with aura gaining Damage reduction

It's just some ideas off the top of my head but I figure with some polishing it could make a decent system.

**** me, I'm skim reading it and the Aura section is making me have to actually slow down to understand it.
So correct me if I'm wrong here, If a level 2 character has a 'normal' health maximum of 16 a Huntress would have only 8 actual health and 14 temporary aura health? (assuming a Con modifier of +0)

I'm pretty happy with it, but I'm always looking for new ideas.

I've seen that one but I want something more akin to mutants and masterminds, which is what I've used off and on while developing my own system for it
