Damn you, now I want to watch his episodes again...

I like how everybody surviving was a big deal for the ninth. Death is about as common as the episodes are easy to follow nowadays.
User avatar #56 to #13 - ilovehitler (05/20/2013) [-]
Loved the writing during the ninth. The current season was just confusing and hard to get along with, as they switched companions half way through and had no real arc until the very end.

Still, one thing I do love about Matt Smith is when he seriouses the **** up. It is so different from his normal person that everything just becomes amazingly epic, to me.
Like with the Angels Run episode.

Demons Run*... I think.
It's way too late for me to attempt logical discussion.

I don't understand why he refused to come back for the 50th...
User avatar #24 to #18 - jinkmana (05/20/2013) [-]
Chris really didn't like Moffat or the people who wrote the show so he kinda said **** you too them and refuses to show up again.
User avatar #26 to #24 - messerauditore (05/20/2013) [-]
That's disappointing. You think he'd put aside the differences one last time for the sake of the fans...
User avatar #27 to #26 - jinkmana (05/20/2013) [-]
Yeah, it would be nice but he just really hates them so it looks really unlikely. :/
User avatar #28 to #27 - messerauditore (05/20/2013) [-]
And now because of that, they're doing this extra doctor ******** .
User avatar #30 to #28 - jinkmana (05/20/2013) [-]
Yeah, that seems a bit lame but John Hurt is a good actor, so it might be good.
User avatar #34 to #30 - calawesome (05/20/2013) [-]
Good actor?....GOOD ACTOR?....John Hurt is one of the most revered British actors of his generation. GREAT ACTOR.

The general idea of Dr. Who and the jokes/explanations from this and other sites have led me to believe that the premise/direction of the show is kind of retarded. I'm not trolling, I'm just asking, if this is a normal thought to have before you start watching? Or is that a sign I just wouldn't enjoy it? I like very few TV shows because generally the intelligent screenwriters end up working on movies, but I enjoyed Fringe, Dexter, Firefly, and Six Feet Under. Is it at least on the same level as those shows?
#72 to #70 - Rascal (05/20/2013) [-]
The writing isn't nearly as smart as any of those shows. If that's specifically what you look for when watching TV then you probably wouldn't be a fan of Doctor Who... It's hard to explain, but after getting to know the universe and the characters you start to overlook the gaping plot holes and stupid writing. But no, if you're expecting the greatness of the shows you listed you'll be disappointed. If you haven't tried already I would recommend Game of Thrones, it's really the only show that comes close to the level of production quality you're talking about.

I had the same thoughts as you. But dw is a more laid back show compared to dexter.
