Actually, before the TimeWar he held little compunction about killing people/aliens. Afterwards, he never purposefully killed anyone.
User avatar #7 to #6 - yetaxaa (06/26/2013) [-]
That is very wrong.
The Doctor has ALWAYS been very anti-violent (except in his very early life, before Ian and Barbara)
I'm still shocked by things like The Doctor killing an Ogron in cold blood in Day of the Daleks or an Ice Warrior in The Seeds of Death because it's so not like him.

Doctor will kill, or worse then kill, (remember the Family of Blood) but only after everything possible and most things impossible have been tried.
Doctor is a pacifist, not a moron, and while he hates weapons, it does not mean he never uses them. He fought in the front lines of the Time War.

Demons run when a good man goes to war
Night will fall and drown in sun

Friendship dies and true love lies
Night will fall and the dark will rise

Demons run but count the cost
The battles won but the child is lost

Remember in Dinosaurs on a Spaceship when the Doctor made missiles target the bad guy's ship, thus destroying it and killing the bad guy, and nobody ever brought up the fact that the Doctor had essentially murdered a guy?

That was during one of his moments of losing himself..
Amy kind of got on to him about that later.
He's been slowly losing himself for the last couple seasons... And I think some seriously bad ****** going to happen towards the last incarnation of him.

Also the two separate occasions as two separate doctors where either living plastic or Spider monster threatened to overrun Earth. He tries to reason with them in a big factory of some sort whose main export seems to be sparks, talks go south, and he KILLS EVERYTHING.... That isn't Billie Piper. Greater good, no doubt, but murder and arguably genocide as well.

User avatar #73 - ultimoz (06/26/2013) [-]
The Doctor went mad in the time war, he killed so much after fighting in the front line that he started to enjoy it. He ended up killing innocents, anybody who stood in his path.

Maybe even a companion..

Meh, just my theory of why John Hurt was a neglected incarnation.

I have not even once seen an episode of Doctor Who, all my knowledge of Doctor Who comes from FJ. For some strange reason though I dreamt that I used that Police Public Phone thing to travel back in time and then it fell into some wormhole and I was stuck in that time

obviously it wasn't a dream, your name is Donna, and your memory has just been erased, but you seem to have some remnants of it.

I started watching it recently too, and though it's good, it's not as excellent as everyone made it out to be. The Doctor and his companion Rose travel to different places in space and time, meet aliens and historical figures, etc.
#51 to #39 - pariahlol (06/26/2013) [-]
Also, for me, it seems like season one and two they were trying to find their footing, and it gets exponentially better following those two seasons.
User avatar #40 to #39 - imthecook (06/26/2013) [-]
thats season one and 2, each season, or pair of season has a story underlying in it that you might not know about until the last episode or 2 then you have this amazing "aha" moment and the whole season makes a lot more sense

a very likable time and space traveler time and space travels anywhere and anywhen (different planets, the Victorian era, the death of the Sun, the death of the Universe) along with one or more companions.
It's a science fiction show more focused on the fiction bit.

The Doctor is an alien known as a Time Lord, they travel around in time machines that can also move in 3D space known as a TARDIS (Time and relative dimensions in space), The TARIDS is bigger on the inside. The Doctor generally goes around saving the universe or earth in every episode with the help of his companion, the companion changes about a bit, and then when he dies he will regenerate (Have another actor play him), that usually happens every 3-4 seasons. that about sums it up, and mind you it's only a summary, it hardly does the show any justice, you'll just have to watch.

Am I the only one who dislikes Rose? I was fine with her until she got stuck in the other universe. Just the whole thing about "He needs me so he doesn't need to be lonely any more." stuff. I'm watching this thinking, "HE HAS BEEN DOING JUST ******* FINE BEFORE HE MET YOU, AND THE FACT THAT THERE IS MORE EPISODES AFTER THIS MEANS HE IS DOING JUST FINE AFTER YOU LEFT!! THE ONLY REASON YOU WANT TO BE WITH HIM IS BECAUSE HE HAS A ******* TIME TRAVELING SPACESHIP!!" But that is just my opinion.

You're forgetting that he loved her, so at the time there was a need. It's similar to how you need your girlfriend or boyfriend or whatever your significant other is to you at the time, but you eventually grow out of that when you lose them.
User avatar #42 to #28 - carefreedude (06/26/2013) [-]
I agree completely, but think of this. The reason she went with him in the first place was because of the tardis. I guarantee that she would of passed him off as some crazy guy if he didn't have that. But again, that is just my opinion.

On a side note (please note, that I am not that far into the series at the moment.) Wouldn't there be a doctor in the other universe she is stuck in? They had a torchwood there, which was created because of the doctor's interference. So logically, couldn't she just look for the another doctor? (again, not that far in. So I might be missing an important timey wimey bit of info that disproves this.)
#96 to #42 - chaoticwaffle ONLINE (06/26/2013) [-]
I wouldn't know about a Doctor there, but that universe had Cybermen while the one the Doctor is from didn't. Perhaps the other universe didn't have a planet of Time Lords in the same way this one didn't have Cybermen.

As for the TARDIS comment, that's pretty logical. Though I'm sure if it wasn't the TARDIS he'd have some other means of transportation through time and space to show her rather than being passed off as a crazy man, otherwise how could he actually travel?
User avatar #99 to #96 - carefreedude (06/27/2013) [-]
