They're a transexual, does that count?

That's pretty cool. A transsexual Dalek would be double cool.

Male to female trans sexual.

He.
Lets not lie to others or to ourselves here.
User avatar #31 to #30 - lightingeagle (08/26/2013) [-]
Pre-operation.

Would you like to talk to them? You seem to be curious about trans sexuality on your own, if you don't mind my guessings about your character.
User avatar #33 to #31 - burdenedsoul (08/26/2013) [-]
i'm not curious about it for myself, i'm mostly curious as ... i guess you could say psychological reasons... i've always been curious about why people make decisions and what goes through their minds when they make them

so, sure
#36 to #33 - itsbendingtime (08/26/2013) [-]
>i'm mostly curious as ... i guess you could say psychological reasons...

Well, basically, he has a mental illness.
#37 to #36 - burdenedsoul (08/26/2013) [-]
what makes you think someone is sick for not liking the cards they've been dealt?

if you had the power to change the thing you hate the most about yourself, would you do it?
#38 to #37 - itsbendingtime (08/26/2013) [-]
Unfortunately nobody possesses the power to change their 23rd chromosome pair from XY to XX or vice versa.
User avatar #39 to #38 - burdenedsoul (08/26/2013) [-]
that's not the point, if you were paralyzed from the neck down, and you had the power to heal yourself and walk again, would you do it?

if you don't like your gender, and you had the power to change it, which we have that ability, (maybe not on a chromosomal level, but everywhere else it counts) would you do it?
#40 to #39 - itsbendingtime (08/26/2013) [-]
Being paralyzed from the neck down is a physical condition, deciding you are the wrong gender is a mental one, but by comparing the two you acknowledge that it is a genuine malady of the mind.
Also "everywhere it matters" is extremely subjective. A post of trans does not have ovaries, or a womb, or the bone structure, or the genetics of a woman. He cannot be impregnated and have children. No matter what surgery and hormone therapy he has, he will always be a man.
He may be in a chopped up and modified body made to resemble that of a woman, but he is still a man.
User avatar #77 to #40 - TheMather ONLINE (08/26/2013) [-]
Then if you were born with a chromosomal defect that rendered you paralyzed from the neck down from birth? Then "not being able to walk" would be a condition of the same nature as "not being the sex you identify as". And in the same manner, a surgery that gave you locomotive ability would be a correctional surgery of the same nature as a sex change. Furthermore, saying you're still not able to walk after the surgery because your chromosomes say so is no different than saying someone who has undergone a sex change is still the same gender because theirs say so.
#78 to #77 - itsbendingtime (08/26/2013) [-]
No, that's a physical defect, not a mental one.
User avatar #80 to #78 - TheMather ONLINE (08/26/2013) [-]
No, because there isn't anything physically wrong with the body, there would only be something mentally wrong with the person for thinking they were supposed to be able to walk.
#81 to #80 - itsbendingtime (08/26/2013) [-]
>chromosomal defect that prevents you from walking
>not a physical defect
>chromosomal defect that prevents you from walking
>not a physical defect
User avatar #85 to #81 - TheMather ONLINE (08/26/2013) [-]
Yes, a chromosomal defect isn't a physical defect. There isn't anything wrong with out bodies if they were made according to recipe. And if you are to say that something wrong with the recipe is a physical defect, then that means one wrong gender chromosome is a physical defect.
User avatar #46 to #40 - curlyf (08/26/2013) [-]
What does it matter if your chromosomes don't match your gender identity? I as well am dating someone who is trans, he is FtM. And sure, it's a mental condition. But we treat people who have schizophrenia or depression, so what's the difference? And if we can give someone who was born male but is mentally a female the treatment necessarily to physically change them in pretty major ways then why shouldn't they be considered the gender that they choose?
User avatar #56 to #46 - thatoneiranianguy ONLINE (08/26/2013) [-]
There's kind of a big different between being Schizophrenic or being depressed than wanted to be something you're genetically not. The fact we both have "treatments" or "plans" to cope with them is irrelevant.

Just saying.
User avatar #55 to #51 - curlyf (08/26/2013) [-]
Yep, he. Fun fact. Native Americans also had trans people. They were called two spirits and at puberty could more or less decide their own gender.
User avatar #41 to #40 - burdenedsoul (08/26/2013) [-]
you're still missing the point

my point is: why is a person mentally ill for not liking something about themselves? look in the mirror, not just the mirror in the bathroom, the mirror in your head, examine yourself inside and out, pick out your biggest character flaws, your biggest physical flaws, everything that you think is wrong with you. now ask yourself this question, "is it wrong to want to change this? to get rid of all my flaws?" then ask yourself, "would i change it all, if i had the chance?"

then tell me your answers to these questions
#72 to #41 - itsbendingtime (08/26/2013) [-]
Ok ok, to answer the first question.

Disliking something about yourself is normal.

Disliking something to the point where you undergo invasive surgery and a harsh course of hormone therapy to attain a sad parody of what you wish you were is not.
User avatar #82 to #72 - burdenedsoul (08/26/2013) [-]
oh, so its not "normal"

so it's normal to live with something that you can change, when you really don't like it?
not changing something about yourself, or your surroundings, when you have the ability to is not normal, its just plain crazy... mentally ill, if you will
#83 to #82 - itsbendingtime (08/26/2013) [-]
>something that you can change

That is my entire point. You CANNOT change your gender.
You can undergo hormone therapy and surgery and pretend you are another gender, but it is not real.
#87 to #83 - burdenedsoul (08/26/2013) [-]
why am i still even talking about this? obviously you're very closed minded, and not willing to let new ideas into you're head, or let others do what they can to be happy in life. and that's all we have in this world, and there isn't much left, so we have to scrape together every bit and piece that we can find, and do whatever it takes to get it. which is really sad, that you are so closed off to new thoughts and experiences that you have to make others miserable, or criticize them, or call them "mentally ill" just so that you can feel safe with how you live your life...
#88 to #87 - itsbendingtime (08/26/2013) [-]
And so the conversation goes out with a whimper instead of a bang, with a vague ad hominem.
People can do whatever the **** they like with their lives, but if a man has hormone therapy and surgery, he is still a man. Never at any point did I say that they cannot do it or should not do it, I simply pointed out that they are still a man after going through surgery and HRT, and are deluded if they think otherwise.
Also yes, that does mean that if you are a man and you **** a MtF you are gay.
#89 to #88 - burdenedsoul (08/26/2013) [-]
and there you go again, if a man wants to be happy by calling themselves a woman after hormone therapy and surgery... then ******* let them! who are you to judge them as "deluded" or "mentally ill"? what makes you such an expert of what makes people happy and what doesn't? a man does not harm anyone by changing genders, he only tries his best to be happy. and you just sit there and force judgement upon them for doing absolutely NOTHING wrong, to you or anyone else.
#94 to #89 - itsbendingtime (08/27/2013) [-]

#42 to #41 - itsbendingtime (08/26/2013) [-]
The flaws that can be changed through my own efforts and work, yes.
The flaws that are hard coded into my DNA and cannot be fixed, I learn to live with and embrace them as a part of who I am.
User avatar #60 to #42 - burdenedsoul (08/26/2013) [-]
and you STILL havent given me the answer to the first question
User avatar #44 to #42 - burdenedsoul (08/26/2013) [-]
plus you missed the first question
User avatar #43 to #42 - burdenedsoul (08/26/2013) [-]
STILL missing the point

let me make this as clear as possible if you could alter your DNA so that you could rid yourself of all your flaws and defects, would you do it?
#48 to #43 - itsbendingtime (08/26/2013) [-]
IF I could? I don't know. Possibly. But I can't. Nobody can.
User avatar #59 to #48 - burdenedsoul (08/26/2013) [-]
"but i can't. nobody can." you'[re not looking at the right things here, you're looking at what's impossible, i'm looking at (and trying to get you to look at) not what's possible or not, but at yourself, and if you would if you could

so, let me ask again, if there was a 100% chance of changing yourself, inside and out, DNA and all, if it were 100% possible, would you do it?
User avatar #52 to #48 - burdenedsoul (08/26/2013) [-]
then why is it wrong to want to change what genitalia you have? or what hormones are passing through your body? all of this is completely possible as it is today. and who knows, maybe in a few hundred years, we'll have the technology to completely alter a man into a woman, or vice versa
#54 to #52 - itsbendingtime (08/26/2013) [-]
It isn't wrong, I never claimed it was.
It IS wrong however, for a man who has undergone such surgery to try to claim he is now a woman. He is still a man.
User avatar #57 to #54 - burdenedsoul (08/26/2013) [-]
you may not have sad "it's wrong" exactly, but you made it pretty apparent that you think it's wrong
