Just your typical angry cynic who accused anybody of liking Doctor Who of being a 'fake nerd' before descending into the typical insults like 'faggots'. Upon realizing he wouldn't listen to my reasoning, I decided to end it.

Regardless if you have no idea what Doctor Who is a t-shirt with a police box and an out of context quote is obviously a cultural reference. I wouldn't go to that doctor again just because he has the maturity of a 12 year old.

because everyone follows pop culture.
User avatar #96 to #94 - stonedapples (04/12/2013) [-]
you don't have to follow pop culture to know that people reference it. Just because you don't know what it is, what its from or what is actually means doesn't mean it isn't obviously a reference.
User avatar #98 to #96 - uhidk (04/12/2013) [-]

obviously you do, seeing as the doctor didn't get it.
User avatar #100 to #98 - stonedapples (04/12/2013) [-]
That's my ******* point. If he looks at it and rather than thinking something like "Huh, I don't really get that. I could ask them about it or just ignore it" he went with "Huh, I don't really get that. It must be a direct attack at me and I'm going to be a pissy little bitch about it". Why the **** would you want someone like that looking after your health?

I stopped watching shortly after Matt Smith came along.
Anyone care to explain how we got from "Trust me, I'm the doctor" to "The Doctor always lies"?
User avatar #42 to #36 - cthumoo ONLINE (04/12/2013) [-]
But Matt Smith is brilliant...
User avatar #46 to #42 - payseht (04/12/2013) [-]
I hate his guts
He ruined a series I was borderline obsessed with, for me at least.
I respect if you have an opinion, mine's just completely opposite.

If you care to know why: He's a man child. Whereas David and Christopher were acting like men, being fun but imposing at the same time, a person you'd respect, admire, and have fun with, Matt is a boy that says he's going to save the world but I can never believe him. It's like seeing a kid in his father's clothes, acting like an adult and doing a poor job at it, as a child will.
When David says he'll save the world, you believe the ****** . When Matt does it, I'm going like "Good for you... nice you have the script to help you out, otherwise who'd believe you?". When the other doctors got angry, you knew **** was going down. When Matt does it... it's, again, like a little kid you feel the need to give a lollipop to calm down...
It's an overall downgrade. If he were the first doctor in the reboot, I may have enjoyed him. He seems enjoyable enough, and fits the basic character lines quite well. If I've never had watched the series and only heard of it, I'd say he's perfect for the role as the doctor. However, comparing to the previous two doctors in the reboot, it's just a giant step back.
A few of my friends share this opinion and I completely understand if you don't.
User avatar #51 to #46 - cthumoo ONLINE (04/12/2013) [-]
Fair enough, I like the doctor's character for different reasons so it only makes sense for me to prefer Matt Smith over Eccleston (unsure about Tennant).
User avatar #45 to #36 - cazabrow ONLINE (04/12/2013) [-]
it's not really meaning you can't trust him, it was in an episode where he lied to distract his companions so they wouldn't stop him from sacrificing himself. Plus i agree with your view on Matt Smith, though i still watch every episode it could have been 100% better if Tennant stayed since now Smith's personality just lowers the audience age group for the show significantly which sucks.
User avatar #47 to #45 - payseht (04/12/2013) [-]
I would have loved if David stayed as the doctor, but I also believe he had a very good run and it's better to end on a high note than overstay your welcome and the act getting stale (you either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain).
I just wish they replaced him with someone... interesting... at least at the same level as David. When David first replaced Christopher I was crushed but grew to like him in a very short period. He was an obvious step forward. With Matt, they took one giant leap back, in terms of quality and target demographic.
User avatar #48 to #47 - cazabrow ONLINE (04/12/2013) [-]
I feel even more crushed that Eccelston decided to not appear in the 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who, him alongside David Tennant would have been a once in a lifetime experience

bro if it wasn't for this website ramming references from doctor who down my throat I would have never known about the show. It's a good show yes but it's definitey not a staple in modern science fiction like star trek, star wars, the fifth element, or even back to the future. Quite frankly, funnyjunk has ruined most of the storyline for me anyways so it's basically watching reruns without watching reruns.

The T shirt had a police box on it, fairly well connected with doctor who. Admittedly, if not in UK, the doctor (medical) may not have heard of the doctor (timey-wimey) because it may not have been around in america when he, the doctor (medical), was the appropriate age.

I know of Doctor Who I have seen like part of season 1 and when I saw that shirt I thought of Dr. House for some reason. For being a doctor though her doc should have realized it was probably from a show or something.
