My existence determines this is a lie.

I do not regard whovians as insane. I regard them as simply uninteresting.

It surprises me how most people in any fandom think their so interesting and unique because they like a ******* tv show/book/movie... while SURROUNDED by millions and millions of people who like the exact same thing.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not hating. Like what you want. It's just weird and delusional to say "Lolz im insane and unique, my sense of taste is so quirky!!11" when the thing you're obsessing over has a huge fan base of people from completely different social spectrums.

I agree with the base of your point, but in a lot of cases (like this one) I think it is more that something happens (like the 50th anniversary) that causes the entire fandom to explode and flood sites like tumblr, facebook, etc.
User avatar #49 to #19 - ilovehitler (11/25/2013) [-]
I think the "you're insane" bit was more referring to the sudden jumpstart that fandoms tend to get when something big happens, and those not really in the fandoms don't quite understand the fuss.

Personally, I like the quirkiness of the doctor, the love and friendship felt between the companions and the doctor, and the stories. While the writing isn't always the best, I like the story the show tells. I like seeing the aliens and how they portray them. I like the shenanigans the doctor gets into and trying to figure out what's going on and how he's going to save the day. But that's just me and my opinion. I respect your opinion of not liking the show and the fact that you gave it a chance.

Tl;DR thanks for giving it a chance before saying you don't like it.

I don't have any opinion of doctor who.

i actually enjoyed the first season of it.

but the fandom ******* ruins it for me.

I hate almost every fandom, even if i like the show, but whovians are almost as bad as bronies in the sense of how in your face they are, and how much they want everything to be dr.who related.

it's like dealing with a weeabo or a vegan.

If you like the show, and are part of the fandom, good **** . i'm glad.

But literally no one thinks you're crazy or weird or w.e. kind of self righteous ******** you guys think we feel that drives you to make this kind of **** .

No one cares. Seriously. Knock it off.

It's just my opinion though, so w.e. red thumbs can't hurt me.
User avatar #83 - Spavaloo (11/25/2013) [-]
I'm just a bit disappointed in how this episode turned out.

The whole tragedy of the Doctor's character is gone now. He has no atrocity from his past looming over him anymore- because he just up and fixed it. Instead of a tortured, flawed figure hiding in the shadows of time, desperately trying to atone for an unspeakable act while refusing all thanks and admiration, now he's just a jaunty alien in a time travelling box who's looking for his lost planet (which is definitely somewhere out there).

I work in a cinema. Nearly a thousand whsovians descend upon us in the space of an hour along with the nearly three thousand people seeing the hungry games throughout the day. I can only marvel at the number of fezzes and distributing sexy rule 63 cosplayers. Merrily charge all these ******* £15 a ticket to see their beloved saviour. Then I go home, watch the show and laugh as I realise that we literally robbed these fine folks for a ******* awful hour and a quarter special.

And yet the entire frontpage is full of DBZ and Avatar content and nobody calls them out on spreading their fandom stuff everywhere. Selective bias is funny.
User avatar #55 to #38 - kingbulbasaur ONLINE (11/25/2013) [-]
What else is funny is comparing your fandom, which is full of loud, awkward and obnoxious neckbeards, to one that isn't really even a 'fandom' and more so a mutual appreciation of a TV show everyone once watched.
I think I've been to enough conventions and big MtG events to know that 'Whovians' are much worse than any DBZ / Avatard.
inb4 'loud majority hurr' 'cause using that reasoning, there'd also be a 'loud majority' of Avatar / DBZ fans. Nowhere to be found, dude.
User avatar #60 to #55 - GamerMandrew (11/25/2013) [-]
It's a good TV show. That's it. It's garnered a huge following for being a unique TV show.

for ***** sake, have you got your fedora in a twist? I don't even watch doctor who and I am sick to ******* death of people saying "shut up because your show is **** !". So, what shows do you watch? What video games do you play? I'm not going to start **** talking you or your game/show just because I don't care about it. If people enjoy something and want to talk about it, why can't you just ******* let them?

So here, take this can of shut the **** up and get on with your life.
User avatar #75 to #30 - akkere (11/25/2013) [-]
It's not about the show, it's the behavior of the goddamn fandom.
You can like whatever you ******* like. You like Doctor Who? Hey, great, I can see it too. You like My Little Pony? Not my cup of tea, but whatever.
But people sitting there and going "AH AH HA HA WE'RE SO RANDOM XDDDDD" like some group of annoying ***** is just that - Annoying.

Go ahead and thumb me down, but cut the ******** of running around and going "YOU JUST HATE US CAUSE WE'RE DIFFERENT". There's people who have foot fetishes that behave better than some of you people.
User avatar #81 to #75 - schmuxy (11/25/2013) [-]
I have seen no evidence that the Doctor Who fanbase is anywhere near as obnoxious as you pretend they are. And regardless, the internet isn't the sole property of discerning, civilised gentlemen such as yourself. It's free space, so let them enjoy their ******* show and move the **** on.
User avatar #96 to #81 - akkere (11/25/2013) [-]
And not for nothing but that's the most stupidly hypocritical argument I've heard from you people. "IT'S A FREE SPACE WE CAN DO WHAT WE WANT. OMG DONT BASH US."
If they have the freedom to be obnoxious, people have the freedom to call them out on it.
User avatar #95 to #81 - akkere (11/25/2013) [-]

I don't think his problem was with the show, I think his problem was with the whole "everyone who doesn't watch our show thinks we're soooo crazy" thing, because they don't. They don't care if you watch Doctor Who or not. They don't think you're somehow crazy or special for it. They just don't care.

I would guess that doctor who fans are significantly more likely to wear fedoras than non doctor who fans.
User avatar #44 to #30 - treepump (11/25/2013) [-]
The difference is that this site is constantly being bombarded with Doctor Who content. Two of my closest friends constantly talk about the show, several of my favorite YouTubers love or mention the show, and sites like funnyjunk have a lot of its followers. The difference in funnyjunk is that you scroll through the highest rater content, and so when all the Doctor Who fans thumb up that content, people who are indifferent or dislike it have to see it. It gets annoying.
User avatar #54 to #44 - artox (11/25/2013) [-]
but no one is forcing you to go on this site. Like the content and comments are generated by the people here. So really you can make your own stuff or try to get people to dislike the show, which telling people that you don't like it wont stop them and it is stupid to think that it will. That leaves your last option of getting your humor from a different source.

But honestly it is hard to take seriously that you are annoyed. do you enjoy this site more then you dislike the doctor who posts? If not why are you here. It is like being in a house on fire and standing it complaining that it is too hot and that the fire should stop.
User avatar #56 to #54 - treepump (11/25/2013) [-]
You sound awfully upset. No one forces me to go on this site, but the site is definitely meant to be diverse in content. Doctor Who is starting to over-saturate the whole mix. I don't make my own stuff because I'm not that funny, and I'm not going to try and get people to dislike the show because that's not really how opinions work, like, at all. I will definitely say I don't like it because that's the entire point of the comment section. I have just as much of a say as what is and isn't funny, and what gets upvoted and downvoted on this site, as you do. So I think I'll just stick to downvoting content I don't think is funny and move on to the next.

And that's an awful metaphor. It's more like absentmindedly eating Chex Mix and then you go to take another bite and then you accidentally eat a turnip and you really don't like turnips but some of Chex Mix's customers voted that they really like turnips, so the company decided to put them in there. I'm stuck not being able to do much about the turnips other than not eat them or not buying Chex Mix, but I'm gonna keep buying Chex Mix because the rest of it is ******* delicious.

The show is probably great, but the awful fanbase just totally alienates me. People like you act all hostile when I suggest that not everyone enjoys constantly seeing things about the show. My opinion is obviously the minority because Doctor Who gets quite a few thumbs up, but I still put my opinion out there because if I don't, only more and more will appear.
#84 to #56 - bigredthunder (11/25/2013) [-]
Or you could just move on to the next content instead of whining about it. I cant stand most anime and their fan bases but i never bitch and whine about the massive amounts of anime posts on this website.
User avatar #94 to #84 - treepump (11/25/2013) [-]
Isn't the entirety of the comment section about whining or trying to be funny?
User avatar #98 to #94 - artox (11/25/2013) [-]
Yes. Because people like you choose to whine. That's what I'm getting at. This site is what you make of it and right now you are whining. If you are not trying to do something with your comments there is no point to them. I don't think you think you are going to change the fan base with your comments but if you think so go ahead I guess.
#88 to #30 - sposadox (11/25/2013) [-]
I just find it retarded that ponyfags get **** on for liking a show, yet Doctor Who fans are apparently all ******* diddily and don't get red thumbed into oblivion.
#53 - oceanfrank (11/25/2013) [-]
yeah you guys can get pretty annoying but honestly I've gotten so used to it just like the Potter tards on this website but for ***** sake can we cut down on the fandom just a little bit? You dont see us making Obscure references to like League of Legends or GTA V or putting out theories about the games in a website that is made to be funny and not a place to discuss religious sects of a fandom.
User avatar #58 to #53 - nucularwar (11/25/2013) [-]
To be fair, for awhile there were a LOT of League of Legends posts
User avatar #67 to #58 - oceanfrank (11/25/2013) [-]
yeah but they died out in a matter of days. It's bearable now, why cant dr.who, HP, Game of Thrones, LoTR, etc... fandoms simmer down too?
User avatar #72 to #67 - nucularwar (11/25/2013) [-]
Because they're FANdoms. They kinda like talking about the show. You can't expect us to be NOT talking about Dr Who when the 50th Anniversary just happened.
#73 to #72 - oceanfrank (11/25/2013) [-]
fair enough I guess. I'm just saying im tired of hearing theories about Dr. Who and HP storylines. especially if they come from tumblr posts that are then INSTANTLY debunked in the comments. Not only did you spoil the movie/show for me but now I think you dont even know what you're talking about and you're a supposed fan.

Well you can start with Christopher Eccleston's Doctor (2005) which started after a hiatus in 1989.
You don't really need to know much about Doctor Who to start there (it wont hurt to do some homework in order to get some jokes/references) after him is David Tennant and then Matt Smith (the current Doctor until Christmas).

I just started here two days ago and I'm already more than halfway through the second season on Netflix. Entertaining stuff
