I hear he'll be playing Patrick Bateman in a musical adaptation of American Psycho.

So a fair warning, I might fanboy a little in this post.

Anyhow, Matt Smith has really grown on me. For a while, I didn't much care for his adaptation of the Doctor because it seemed to me to be more immature than David Tenant's portrayal, which felt to me like it was taking the drama and the depth out of the character. But it was the little things that Matt did that got me to like his character. Between all the shenanigans, he drops these short quips of really serious or deep content that feels really sincere to the character and is surprisingly powerful. And Matt's ability to transition from boyish and playful to dramatic and deep in an instant provided a new feel to the character that I've really started to enjoy.

tl;dr, I'll miss ya Matt

Why exactly do you miss Matt Smith? He hasn't one anywhere... yet.

I loved David as the Doctor who was always on top of things.
I loved Matt as the Doctor who realised that he was becoming the man he had always feared (garuntee he saw that in the room in the episode God Complex.)
And now I am looking forward to Peter as the Doctor who throws an insult tantrum or threats at anybody who doesnt see his logic.

I have just recently started watching Dr. Who, and am on the second season, but I feel like Christopher Eccleston doesn't get the love he deserved. yeah the first season episode content isn't as good as the second season with David Tennant, but personally I think Eccleston played the better doctor, just had cheesier episodes to work with. i like Tennant, but does he improve throughout the series?

Matt Smith was really ******* irritating.

So glad he's leaving.

I still wish Eccleston had come back for the special, I wish he had done if for the fans...

Also Matt Smith is kind of gone, he finished shooting his last episode the other day.

I'm not entirely sure I get the Time Lords. I mean, when they die, they regenerate. Do they have a limited amount of respawns? and why did none of them go back to save their race?
User avatar #79 to #76 - alhiniath (10/09/2013) [-]
by the Gallefray law they are only allowed to regenerate 10 times but as The Doctor is the last Time lord he doesn't have to follow this rule since it doesn't exist anymore.

but he didn't regenerate did he? he went into his own timeline to pull the impossible girl out and the next doctor is apparently one of the past i believe so does that not mean he may make a return?

Why is this show so popular? I'm gonna get hate for this, but all the kids in my school who are obsessed with this show are kind of, fags.

Matt Smith had the ability to make you feel like the doctor could be the most dangerous thing in the world, for me David Tennant wasn't sinister enough. Matt Smith was excitable and everything but he could have real moments of "I could kill everything and everyone in 10 seconds".

Personally, I think Matt Smith had some really charming episodes as the Doctor and let's be honest, it was hard taking up the screwdriver after David Tennant.
It's just that a number of his episodes were rather...lacklustre if that's the word I'm looking for. There were some that stood out for me, a lot. But others were just kinda meh.
He's a victim of poor writing, as opposed to acting in my view.

Matt Smith will always be my favorite, seeing I finally got around to watching Doctor Who during his first episode. I'm open to change, and I love the other Doctors, but I will always love Matt Smith the most.

That was one of my favorite moments from 11. Or should I say moments that I thought he was badass.
