Valve used real-life faces to construct the visages of all the human residents in Half-Life 2. Gordon Freeman and G-Man's models (I think) are the only two in the game that combine more than one face to create a unique appearance.

Here are some examples of the other real-world facial reconstructions in HL2.

Wasn't it pretty long time ago when Half-Life 3 got confirmed? Another question is, how many years valve is going to make it?

This was my old house assistant principal.

Showed him a picture of Freeman three years ago. His response?

"Where'd you find this picture of me? I get in my HEV on weekends."

Such a cool principal.

thank the lords of gamin. Seriously. I know too many dumbasses that play the secon third or even fourth game in a series that have connection that you need. I have even heard someone say that Half- Life isn't important to play to understand HL 2.

User avatar #85 to #73 - appleboom (07/06/2013) [-]
You don't really, though. Although I would highly recommend playing 1 first.
User avatar #87 to #85 - sexyhimself (07/06/2013) [-]
If you are suppose to understand why there are zombies and headcrabs and aliens it is pretty neccessary to play
User avatar #88 to #87 - appleboom (07/06/2013) [-]
They tell you, though. They explain all of HL1 in HL2.
User avatar #89 to #88 - sexyhimself (07/06/2013) [-]
yeah but most game sequels do that, but that's not the same as ******* experiencing it.
I made it my code to never play a sequel (or prequel) before the original game after I played Mass Effect 2 before 1 and I stick to that code and yell at my friends when they break it, which makes them somewhat amd at me....derp
User avatar #90 to #89 - appleboom (07/06/2013) [-]
But what if you want to play System Shock 2?
User avatar #91 to #90 - sexyhimself (07/06/2013) [-]
Never played it and don't know what it is. Believe i have heard of it before thou, please explain what you meant.

ps. that was a quick response.
User avatar #93 to #91 - appleboom (07/06/2013) [-]
Well for one, it inspired the Deus Ex and Bioshock series, and GLAdOS is a combination of Hal 9000 and SHODAN. System Shock 2 Intro

My point, though, is that System Shock 2 is available on steam and gog, but System Shock 1 isn't available anywhere. Also, they have vastly different control schemes, with the first game's being incredibly complex and archaic.
#95 to #93 - sexyhimself (07/06/2013) [-]
what's this you say about the first one not bein available? Also, does the games have connection? Like same story line, same main character or same bad guy?

System Shock 1 is from 1994, and runs on DOS. It's hard to come buy, and hard to set up if you happen to get a hold of it.

In the first game you jettison a part of the space station you're on before killing SHODAN, but since she's one of those cloud holographic things that I don't completely understand, she survives on that bit you shot out earlier. In the second game, the ship you're on finds the remnants, doesn't know what it is, and unleashes her along with her experiments.
User avatar #98 to #97 - sexyhimself (07/06/2013) [-]
thanks for the spoilers, bitch.....for a nearly 20 year old game....... hmmmm.

well I could probably get a DoS emulator working if i really wanted to, have been meaning to try out Elderscrolls: Arena and Daggerfall as well anyways.
User avatar #99 to #98 - appleboom (07/06/2013) [-]
The thing is, those are publicly available. And it's not like you were going to play it anyway.

Even if you were, Bioshock's story is almost completely ripped from System Shock 2, so you'd see most of the plot twists coming anyway.
User avatar #100 to #99 - sexyhimself (07/06/2013) [-]
haven't played Bioshock....yet. And I might play it now that you got me intrested.
Also. I have no idea what you meant with publicly available since my first language is not English, so either you have to dumb it down or I have to get my ass to google, and since I have no interest og going to google you better start explaining.
User avatar #103 to #100 - appleboom (07/06/2013) [-]
I mean easy to get. I can go to the owners of Arena and Daggerfall and download their games. I can't do that with System Shock 1. I can only get original copies or try to find a torrent, and the original copies are very hard to find.
#104 to #103 - sexyhimself (07/06/2013) [-]
That's somehow what i thought you meant. But I work with torrents alot so that should be a piece of cake.

I don't think HL2 looked that good when it came out. But with the Source engine getting updated the graphics has gotten better with time.
User avatar #52 to #48 - zzforrest (07/06/2013) [-]
Well it didn't look good per say but the thing is, it is one of the best physics engines and a really damn good graphics engine because it can run on older computers. I run a 2010 top-of-the-line that cannot play Amnesia and a whole slew of other games because of the outdated graphics card but with the Source engine it runs perfectly fine.

that's also one of the names for the practice bots in TF2. I always wondered what that had to do with Valve.
