the dude actually is supposed to be the ever evolving villain. he dies and is reborn over the course of a year, and every time he is evolved, slightly closer to perfection. i imagine that if we wait like 50 years, the dude will be a god. Do we ever see Calendar man in Batman beyond?

That's all fairly recent stuff man, Calendar Man used to be more or less a normal dude. HIGHLY recommend The Long Halloween and Dark Victory if you're interested in a more grounded, flim-noire-ish Batman like in Year One.

honestly when they explained the new version of Calendar man i was psyched, because they actually made him a real villain that feels like a joke that is slowly becoming a looming threat. killing him does nothing but make him stronger. He is actually eventually just going to become doomsday wont he? in fact when i saw pic related i was thrown for a loop because i didn't know Banes backstory, so i thought that this was a look in the mind of calendar man and I was really excited. dont actually read the recent batman comics. it was ******* ****.

I agree with you it's an interesting idea, a pretty cool one at that. I really prefer Batman's villains and Batman in general honestly to stay grounded in a semi-realistic context, and that's why I agree with you the recent stuff has all been incredibly lacking. It's all about making Batman look like the biggest badass ever and it's really sucking everything unique about the character out of him.

spoilers if you didnt read the most recent arc and issue. Batman just beat a nation state into submission with his leather bound fists. and in the issue before that, it was about catwoman, but the entire arc feels out of place and disregards the previous arc of catwoman with her becoming a crime boss and just throws that story in the trash. and the issue before that it was just batman repeating the phrase "I'll break your damn back" over and over again until his own back got broken and he just fixed it like it was nothing.

He's in Long Halloween though he's not the antagonist, but the killer in that story does use his M.O., so Batman goes to him for advice on several occasions.
