Gif of Blight town...
User avatar #39 to #9 - lillpip (03/15/2013) [-]
It was pretty easy for me. The only place I had real trouble with is Blight Town.
**** that place.

**** Tomb of giants and New Londo. Your forced to use the lamp and they love putting giant skeletons around every ******* corner that CAN KNOK YOU OFF SO YOU FALL TO YOUR DEATH!!! and New Londo is by far the worse. I have never played a zone so terrifying because the ghost would come out from EVERYWHERE!!!
User avatar #90 to #68 - Jesusnipples (03/16/2013) [-]
Replace whatever headgear you have with the Sunlight Maggot, and the Tomb of the Giants will be a cakewalk*.

*Still hard as **** , but less so because you can see.
#70 to #9 - Rascal (03/16/2013) [-]
The Tomb of Giants has an awesome introduction.
At the speed I was walking, just as the name popped up and said "Tomb of Giants," distracting me for a second, the skeleton lunged at me and one hit me. I have never seen a game area introduced more descriptively.

As for New Londo, just stock up on transient curses. I find the ghost mansion harder than any of the Darkwraith.

Dark Souls was so awesome... I really hope their corporate whoring doesn't screw Dark Souls 2.
User avatar #18 to #9 - ilikemudkips (03/15/2013) [-]
Strange. I always thought New londo to be one of the easiest places. What did you have problems with?
User avatar #80 to #18 - Jesusnipples (03/16/2013) [-]
The ghosts are annoying but not impossible, the Darkwraiths are cake, but the Four Kings are bordering on unfair... I'm SL 208 and in NG3, I do 700 damage on a hit to them but I can't seem to kill more than two
User avatar #84 to #80 - rogueshadow (03/16/2013) [-]
Actually, if you have really strong armor, like Havel's, you can just stand there and tank the Four Kings' attacks and heal when necessary. They'll do little damage and your poise will keep you standing. Just two hand your best weapon and have at it. And don't worry about how heavy your armor is, as rolling won't be used anyway.
Good luck.
User avatar #87 to #84 - Jesusnipples (03/16/2013) [-]
I have a full Black Knight set (all maxed out in upgrades) with a Child's Mask, and I use a +5 Greatsword of Artorias and Grass Crest Shield. I've been twohanding my sword, but it barely makes a dent in their health and I can never seem to get the first one down before the second shows up
User avatar #95 to #87 - rogueshadow (03/16/2013) [-]
Maybe you're just underleveled and don't do enough damage that way. Or are you on NG+?
I can't help you past what I already said, though, simply because I'm not that great at the game.
User avatar #105 to #95 - Jesusnipples (03/16/2013) [-]
I'm on NG3, meaning I've killed Gwyn twice on this character. Eh I'll join a pvp covenant and farm levels for a while
User avatar #135 to #105 - ilikemudkips (03/16/2013) [-]
Even on NG3 i never had any problems with the four kings. The whole fight is mostly about killing one as fast as possible before the next one appears. If you're at the stage when you have more than two kings against you at one time, you're pretty ****** .
User avatar #136 to #135 - Jesusnipples (03/16/2013) [-]
Yeah I know and that strategy hasn't failed me on the previous two fights with them, but this one I just can't seem to pull off. It's possible I just need to spam VIT levels or something, although I was under the impression having 58 VIT and doing 700 damage on a hit would work
User avatar #138 to #136 - ilikemudkips (03/16/2013) [-]
Assuming you're still using GoA its prolly INT
User avatar #139 to #138 - Jesusnipples (03/17/2013) [-]
Dexterity is actually my highest, I leveled my intelligence to 36 and stopped
User avatar #140 to #139 - ilikemudkips (03/17/2013) [-]
I think your problem is there. GoA is a good weapon, but it only has a Dex parameter of C, which is pretty low in NG's. If you get another weapon with a higher dex parameter you'll probably be fine.
User avatar #141 to #140 - Jesusnipples (03/17/2013) [-]
I did some research and made myself a +15 Great Scythe, which is apparently one of the best dexterity build weapons in the game. I tested it for damage in PVP, and more often than not it's one or two shotted invaders, doing about 1000 on a hit for me when I hold it with two hands and have the Darkmoon buff on it.
User avatar #137 to #136 - ilikemudkips (03/16/2013) [-]

I've been playing this game since the day it came out, I know every area by heart and Im on ng+23, even though it stops scaling after 7, anyway, Im not braggin or anything, Im actually quite sad. I miss playing the game for the first time, its not very fun anymore.

PvP is a love/hate relationship. The other day I had a fight with an invader in Ando that lasted 15 beautiful minutes. Too bad some other faggot had to come invade and make it a 1v2. Sometimes you get the only backstabbers that piss me off or the guys that drag you into mobs. Other than that it's a pretty amazing PvP game. (That feel when you'll never be dropped into Firelink Shrine for the first time.)
User avatar #57 to #54 - FeeFieFoe ONLINE (03/15/2013) [-]
Eh that's another thing, I invade by myself in the forest and always get 2v1, I host by myself in the forest and its always two people invading at once teaming up, but I have so much experience, i even know how to buff a Falchion to where I do 780 damage per hit. Quite boring, but I still do it. Even made some videos on youtube
#59 to #57 - RageRambo ONLINE (03/15/2013) [-]
I've had my own fair amounts of getting ganked. Then I got dark bead and now I can win 3 v 1. I use the Great Scythe with crystal magic weapon.
User avatar #60 to #59 - FeeFieFoe ONLINE (03/15/2013) [-]
The scythe and balder side sword are the two weapons I hate the most, only because people only use one attack, over and over and it's boring.
#62 to #60 - RageRambo ONLINE (03/15/2013) [-]
The scythe is my primary. But I sometimes put on Smough's armor and his hammer and just horse around when I invade.

User avatar #120 to #115 - mirgil **User deleted account** (03/16/2013) [-]
I'm guessing first run through? Not NG+? That's probably why. I had no trouble with those ******* first try. But once I hit NG+ the scaling got really hard to get through.
#122 to #120 - therealmaster ONLINE (03/16/2013) [-]
My NG+4 character had no trouble soloing them either. Their attacks are pretty easy to dodge.
User avatar #124 to #122 - mirgil **User deleted account** (03/16/2013) [-]
Like I said, 1 king is no trouble at all. In the begging I'd always take no damage and think I was doing good, then another king would pop up before I kill the 1st. It's just every other boss in Dark Souls is not timed, you can go as defensive as you want and won't be penalized for it. Now I needed a completely different style of play that I wasn't building my character for lol.
User avatar #116 to #115 - lillpip (03/16/2013) [-]
Yeah, I have no clue how you did that...
User avatar #119 to #117 - lillpip (03/16/2013) [-]
Well, yeah dude. That's Emarrel. She's a ******* boss.
User avatar #56 to #40 - mirgil **User deleted account** (03/15/2013) [-]
Once you hit NG+ you just can't do it. The scaling is just too much. I just play WAYY to defensively and take too long to kill a king. Plus it's actually 5/6 kings and the fight just kills me. I can do it easily with another competent summon but god knows have those kids just don't know how to play. Once there are two kings up at any time you're pretty much ****** . Plus I play a Vit/Int/Dex build with pretty low endurance so now I'm rocking Elite Knight gear with a couple variants depending on the situation.
#114 to #56 - therealmaster ONLINE (03/16/2013) [-]
You can solo the four kings on NG+7 with a level one...
User avatar #67 to #56 - lillpip (03/16/2013) [-]
Aah. I always did it that way on my first playthrough. I'm doing an NG+ right now, with silver knight gloves, mask of the child, black leather chest, and giants pants. 2H a +15 claymore. I had no problem with the kings. Just rolled out of the way when they would try to attack, and with the mask and grass crest shield on my back, I had plenty of stamina.
User avatar #121 to #67 - mirgil **User deleted account** (03/16/2013) [-]
Like I said before, I just play way too god damn defensively. Kings are the only boss in DKS where you are timed and have to go full offensive or you just can't do it. It's never that a single King killed me, it was I took too long killing him and another game from behind me and I couldn't do anything.
User avatar #123 to #121 - lillpip (03/16/2013) [-]
Aah. Yeah. Now that I think of it, the builds I just described to you are full offense.
User avatar #125 to #123 - mirgil **User deleted account** (03/16/2013) [-]
Yeah, I should've gone a claymore build but I wanted to get that sick ass bleed from the Iaito and Pricilla's dagger. Sadly, my build works beautifully for most bosses but King's don't bleed or stagger so it was kind of useless. Lucky my pyromancy stuff does a lot of damage too. Whenever I see ghosts running around they always have claymores haha, haven't seen anyone with a Iaito or Uchigatana.
User avatar #128 to #125 - lillpip (03/16/2013) [-]
Yeah, I usually use the claymore to destroy poise. Like on Gwyn. But other than that, I don't use it much :P
Usually using the Obsidian Greatsword or Great Scythe.
