User avatar #40 to #8 - flavadave (01/16/2013) [-]
the fire breath you get with that head... does it get stronger as your standing with the covenant increases? i was underwhelmed when i first got it
User avatar #41 to #40 - hardtuner (01/16/2013) [-]
it gets stronger the more levels you have from the covanant, and you also get the dragon body stone on the second level, and 3rd level is max but takes 80 in total dragon scales.
User avatar #43 to #41 - flavadave (01/16/2013) [-]
That's why i never progressed, then. i had used all of my dragon scales upgrading my drake sword (i regret nothing) and at the time, i didn't have xbox live so i couldn't invade anyone to get more.
User avatar #44 to #43 - hardtuner (01/16/2013) [-]
you can farm them from the blue drakes, but the drop rate is about 25% with 410 item discovery.
User avatar #45 to #44 - flavadave (01/16/2013) [-]
i found those things a little too dangerous to be worth farming, but that's maybe because they're one of the few beasts that pyromancers are almost useless against
User avatar #46 to #45 - hardtuner (01/16/2013) [-]
oh you be pyromancer, i just use strenght weapons, with a ultra greatsword, it takes 2 hits to stun them, sadly stun lock isn't possible.
User avatar #48 to #46 - flavadave (01/16/2013) [-]
thanks for the tip, i'll use that on my next character. with this one, i'm happy enough being in the covenant with Quelaag's sister.

What is this "parry"?
User avatar #122 to #113 - xpurpledragonx (01/16/2013) [-]
when you push left trigger or L2 you do a move with your shield that if timed right will throw the enemy off guard and then you can do a follow up move which dose massive damage.
#126 to #122 - zekeon ONLINE (01/16/2013) [-]
I...I know that.

The joke was that nobody uses parrying in pvp (at least I've never seen it), hence, me asking what parrying is and posting a picture making fun of Dark Souls pvp and all them backstabs.

he can be rather troublesome, depending on what class you pick and also depending on what starting gift you choose. if you choose firebombs as a starting gift, you'll be able to kill him on your first encounter AND you'll receive an extra reward, his hammer.

oh by the way, someone recommended that you should get the master key, but on one hand it removes a deal of challenge from the game, so if you like challange, you shouldn't get the master key.

I can't wait to play it, this is the first time I've been buzzed about a game since Skyrim and I've played that into the ground and imo it was a bit too easy
User avatar #152 to #151 - europe (01/16/2013) [-]
oh yes, way to easy. not to mention that the quests were repetitive. no wonder that the game has "infinite quests". go somewhere, kill something/get a specific item, go back for reward.
User avatar #153 to #152 - istealurkids (01/16/2013) [-]
Exactly! The only thing I enjoyed was doing the Thieves Guild with 0 casualties apart from where they were necessary for the furthering of quests, no enchanted armour, just the bare minimum to make it as realistic as possible.
User avatar #154 to #153 - europe (01/16/2013) [-]
heh, it was easy to become overpowered in the game, slaughtering ancient dragons in mere seconds. though it is in essence possible to become very powerful in dark souls, it will leave you very vulnerable as well.
User avatar #155 to #154 - istealurkids (01/16/2013) [-]
from the sounds of it, Dark Souls has all the good bits from Skyrim with everything that I've been looking for in a game, which is mainly replay-ability

It doesn't really tell you anything. It's like here are the controls, ring some bells, good luck. And for the next 50+ hours you get your skull caved in.

It also has solid gameplay and an amazing community, it also has an incredibly well made PvP system in which you could be naked, with a small sword against someone fully geared, and if you're good enough you can still come out on top.

no problem, and if you're goin to buy it, always pick the master key as starting gift, it opens basic doors. and learn your enemies, in this game knowledge is everything.
User avatar #27 to #26 - istealurkids (01/16/2013) [-]
thanks again for the advice, from the videos I've watched it seems like a game where to have to confront enemies head-on as opposed to exploiting weaknesses from afar which is the fighting style I tend to go for in games, can you choose the way you fight?
User avatar #28 to #27 - hardtuner (01/16/2013) [-]
you can go with archer, but always have a backup weapon, and only fight 1v1. most people make mistakes that they fight too much at once.

you'll reach a part where a big-ass red dragon swoops down and sits his jolly ass over an archway across a bridge. you progress by going under him, but if you edge yourself to where you can see his dangling tail from under the bridge, and shoot it with a bow (start with one as a ranger, or buy one in the area near the bridge otherwise) it'll eventually fall off (the tail, that is). it takes about 20 to 40 arrows, depending on your strength. once the tail falls off, you get the Drake Sword.

That's Dark souls pvp in a nutshell right there., that or some guy teleporting behind you from 100 meters away and backstabbing you.
User avatar #15 to #12 - FeeFieFoe (01/16/2013) [-]
I love pvp, its the people who I hate sometimes, they expect me to ''fight fair'' and they make up their own dumb rules, that if you dont obey, you're bad or you suck and they're better and if they invade again they use their over powered crap. Its annoying sometimes, and I laugh at people who Bow using the gestures, and love how they get pissed when I backstab them when they do it. Its like... you're invading someone to kill them, not have a tea party.
#53 to #15 - jinkazama (01/16/2013) [-]
They could stand in a group of enemies and grief you with a bow or magic. But instead they ask for a fair fight. You are just a prick.
User avatar #57 to #53 - FeeFieFoe (01/16/2013) [-]
At least I fight them by myself, if I go into the forest, two blue guys almost always team up on me.
User avatar #21 to #15 - pvtgoblin (01/16/2013) [-]
It has something to do with respect.

I have a lvl 23 pvp character. Whenever I meet someone how is not prepared for PvP at all and they act nicely, I like to give them some of my titanite shards, but when someone attacks me while I'm just trying to be respectful I usually go ahead and **** them up for their cockiness.
User avatar #37 to #15 - ReeferTrees (01/16/2013) [-]
"They expect me to fight fair"

"They use their overpowered crap"

So you hate it when people act just like you? amazing
User avatar #55 to #37 - FeeFieFoe (01/16/2013) [-]
I dont use OP things though, just a balder side sword and a mail breaker. no magic.
User avatar #61 to #55 - ReeferTrees (01/16/2013) [-]
So you pretend to be a challenge seeker with low equipment so people assume you have a sense of respect for the game so you can backstab fish like a noob?
User avatar #167 to #61 - FeeFieFoe (01/19/2013) [-]
I know this was three days ago, but I dont really care anymore, I bow every time now, I still dont give a **** about everyones made up rules though, nowhere in the game does it say ''fight fair'' I hate the community these days, not just in dark souls, but since I play mw2 a lot, people give me **** because they simply dont like the game, I didnt even buy mw3 or Bo2. But I decided I dont give a **** , I would play by dark souls made up rules if they weren't so stupid, ''YOU BACKSTABBED ME YOU NOOB YOU SUCK SCRUB'' or ''OMG HORNET RING ASFDFDSGHJ'' Im just talking out of boredom here :D
User avatar #62 to #61 - FeeFieFoe (01/16/2013) [-]
lol I usually kick them out of it, I forgot to mention I take armor very seriously, so if I see a guy with havels and a zwiehander run up to me expecting a fair fight, I just laugh
#64 to #62 - bluwizard (01/16/2013) [-]
I've started something so let me explain, dark souls pvp running without significant lag is paper rock scissors, magic is easily negated with like two faith spells ( I ain't telling you which ones if ya don't know find out) Pyromancy is defeated by moving around a bit, and weapons are just timing and dodging. Faith really isnt an attacking method unless u use wrath of the gods and charge them repeatedly.

I had a guy use dung bombs on me only to realize I had sunk all my points into vitality endurance and strength and was coming at him with a demon greataxe and he had no chance to outrun me. I chased his ass threw the undead parish for a minute before his own toxic killed him.
