It's like.. you think you won't have to kill him... but then you do D:
User avatar #11 to #10 - Sockopolis (02/13/2013) [-]
They shouldve made it so Sif's new cutscene has him just giving you the Covenant of Artorias so you could progress without killing him.
User avatar #13 to #11 - xbfmvxreaperx ONLINE (02/13/2013) [-]
I agree completely. or a new fight instead.
User avatar #18 to #13 - hardtuner (02/13/2013) [-]
my speculation is that he doesn't want you to go to the abbys, look at what happened to his best friend artorias, he doesn't want to see you corrupt like him. and those darkwraiths just spit in his face when joining them.
User avatar #19 to #18 - xbfmvxreaperx ONLINE (02/13/2013) [-]
Good point. Artorias got ****** up pretty bad...
User avatar #20 to #19 - hardtuner (02/13/2013) [-]
i really hate to kill him, but it's to make the world a better place. you did beat manus so it's not that he thinks you're weak.

he is with his friend artorias after all.
User avatar #21 to #20 - jarelk ONLINE (02/13/2013) [-]
Well I think it's both that, and the fact that he feels like he HAS to guard his closest friend's grave. Like, something he swore. He can't just let you take his ring.
User avatar #23 to #21 - hardtuner (02/13/2013) [-]
i forgot about that, but he didn't die there. he died in the oolacile township.
User avatar #24 to #23 - xbfmvxreaperx ONLINE (02/13/2013) [-]
I'm pretty sure that where Oolacile was in the past is essentially where sif is now. Like the area where the hydra is is also where you fight kalameet. think about how close they are. It may be on his actual gravesite.
User avatar #27 to #24 - hardtuner (02/13/2013) [-]
well, actually the place where you fight sif is the place where that mushroom godmother is, and kalameet IS closer to where you fight artorias then where you fight sif. but they probably buried him there. no one knows because no one saw. it's just pure speculation.

Sif was just protecting his masters grave..

Which also happens to be the final resting place of said master's lover who died behind his headstone.

poor sif i remember when i first started playing and heard rumors of being able to let him leave if you get him to limp and stop attacking him sadly you cant and i had to watch him limp towards me and fall over when he attacked i felt so bad for him. even more so when i played again with the new opening scene.

I had no issues with Sif. The only two bosses that give me any real trouble are the Four Kings and Bed of Chaos.
#16 to #15 - drainbramage (02/13/2013) [-]
Do I smell another Seamus fan?
User avatar #26 to #15 - flavadave (02/13/2013) [-]
are you seriously telling me you had no trouble with Ornstein and Smough?
User avatar #34 to #26 - drainbramage (02/14/2013) [-]
I beat Orenstein and Smough first time, used 3 estus flasks and it took me about 5 minutes, were there any attacks that you just weren't prepared for? What happened there? I found them easier than Pinwheel and apparently they're one of the toughest bosses in the game, I never understood why though.
User avatar #63 to #34 - multimedia (02/25/2013) [-]
I walked in and got double-teamed almost instantly. I was not prepared for Ornstein's speed.
User avatar #64 to #63 - drainbramage (02/25/2013) [-]
Bro, use the pillars and take pot shots at Smough, when Orenstein gets powered up, roll between his legs, that way, he can only hit you with his butt-slam, which is pretty easy to avoid.
User avatar #65 to #64 - multimedia (02/25/2013) [-]
I've beaten the game 3 times already, don't worry. That was just my first experience.
User avatar #66 to #65 - drainbramage (02/25/2013) [-]
Fair enough, my first playthrough I played as defensively as possible, in recent games I've just kind of taken burst in, or summoned Solaire and watch him fight both bosses because I can.
User avatar #35 to #34 - flavadave (02/15/2013) [-]
i honestly don't know. i think it's because i insisted on killing smough first, and that tends to make ornstein ridiculously tough
User avatar #77 to #35 - unlithe (08/05/2013) [-]
lol i did that first time. now i just don't give **** which one i kill first. i have both the armors anyways.
User avatar #28 to #26 - RageRambo (02/13/2013) [-]
Not at all. They weren't as hard as people say. You just have to play defensively. Kill Ornstein first. Took me 10 mins and about 15 estus to solo. Or summon Solaire. That just makes the fight SUPER easy. They're really easy one on one. Smough is slow as **** and Ornstein telegraphs his attacks pretty slow and don't do much damage at all.
User avatar #29 to #28 - flavadave (02/13/2013) [-]
i guess different players have different ways of doing stuff. you say you had trouble with Four Kings, but i didn't even use estus in that fight. Ornstein and Smough, though, took me about an hour to beat
User avatar #31 to #29 - RageRambo (02/13/2013) [-]
DAmn really? That's my hardest fight. I think it's my lack in skill in dodging. I can tank pretty much any boss but them/it/whatever. Havel's Greatsheild FTW.
#17 - drainbramage (02/13/2013) [-]
I beat Sif first try and took very little damage in the fight, I tend to take my time and play pretty defensively which made the fight pretty easy. Still, most depressing boss fight I've ever taken part in. Gave him a warriors death, two handed the Uchigatana when he started limping. Out of all the bosses to give a battle damage feature, it had to be the wolf.

If you're a little bitch.
User avatar #4 to #3 - sketchE (02/13/2013) [-]
because you knew exactly how to beat him the first time. im one of probably many players who didnt go through in the right order, i killed sif before quaelag, and i assumed the wolf swinging a giant sword was unblockable
User avatar #12 to #4 - xbfmvxreaperx ONLINE (02/13/2013) [-]
You say "right" order. The game was designed to do in a variety of ways. I always kill quelaag and many other bosses before even the bell gargoyles. Just my preferred way. (the gargoyles die in like 2 hits. 'tis fun)
User avatar #33 to #12 - sketchE (02/14/2013) [-]
well yes you can go in any order but there is a distinct you should be here now feel. quelaag went down like a sack of bricks after sif. especially after i found out if you stay right up to her she cant hit you

Sif kind of epitomizes dark souls for me. "Here's a giant wolf. Oh, and he's gonna use this giant sword too."
User avatar #72 - theprocrastibator (03/10/2013) [-]
I'm not far enough in the game yet to know who Sif is.

Cannot feel.
User avatar #53 - arstya (02/17/2013) [-]
I got lucky and beat him first try. Was playing as a sorcerer (TERRIBLE idea, I know...), and was trying to keep my distance. He jumps over to me, and I realise he can't hit a damn thing if you stay under him.
#32 - mykol (02/13/2013) [-]
Sif had a limp animation?
#57 to #32 - insanehostage (02/18/2013) [-]
not when you fight him when he's grown. if you save him before fighting manus his younger self helps you and if he gets hurt in the fight he limps while still trying to fight
User avatar #68 to #57 - itzropey (03/09/2013) [-]
I'm pretty sure Sif (even when full grown) has a limp animation, I think I remember seeing it on one of ENB's videos.
#70 to #68 - insanehostage (03/09/2013) [-]
i just went looking for this. even if you get the cutscene where sif somewhat remembers you, he will still not limp ie: (dot) com/watch?feature=playerembedded&v=fkyi8aLgqk#! he does limp in the manus fight though when he gets injured to a certain point (dot) com/watch?v=Hkih6S4krUo
#69 to #68 - insanehostage (03/09/2013) [-]
if there is, then it must have been after the dlc was released. when i fought him at the grave he had no limping animation. when you summon him in the abyss he will when his health hits a certain level. i have seen a video of sif having a different entry video if you first go to the dlc area and then fight him for the lord soul, but i havent gone back and beat sif at the grave in a while.
User avatar #75 to #69 - niralius (04/17/2013) [-]
he does limp, but mostly just to trick you, does it only on low health
#76 to #75 - insanehostage (04/19/2013) [-]
sorry, i meant to come back and fix that. i finally went back to fight him last night when i was done with my assignments. saw it and was surprised

I enjoyed fighting Sif until it's health dropped and it's started limping I felt bad to kill it
User avatar #6 - kingnarnode (02/13/2013) [-]
sif was actually the only boss I beat in one try, I just stood underneath him and smacked him with a lightning gormless halberd till he died
