mfw the poison mines.

Not the hardest area, but diffidently one of the more annoying.
#145 to #82 - tylosaurus (06/28/2014) [-]
It was easy as **** since you can skip most of it and the boss is ridiculously easy.
User avatar #206 to #145 - ashedust (06/30/2014) [-]
But if you wanted to do more than just go to the boss...
User avatar #207 to #206 - tylosaurus (06/30/2014) [-]
Was also easy. Just run through everything, pick up the items.
Poisoned, so what? Just chug estus when you need it. Go back to bonfire, proceed to run to boss/kill **** .
It's not like there is poison where the enemy is at.
User avatar #130 to #82 - misticalz (06/28/2014) [-]
You can literally run through that area and get to the boss in 10 minutes.
User avatar #205 to #130 - ashedust (06/30/2014) [-]
But for those who wanted to actually go through it...
User avatar #142 to #130 - frenzyhero (06/28/2014) [-]
6 minutes. 4 if you choose to not burn the windmill. But you'd lose that time you gained since the fight would be longer. If on ng1 I recommend skipping it and just getting Jester. He nukes hard enough so counteract her healing, even if you dont use pyros
User avatar #147 to #142 - tylosaurus (06/28/2014) [-]
You're thinking of earthen peak, not harvest valley. The boss in harvest valley is covetous demon.
You can do what misticalz said.
User avatar #148 to #147 - frenzyhero (06/28/2014) [-]
oh jabba

people actually considered him a boss ?
User avatar #150 to #148 - tylosaurus (06/28/2014) [-]
Of course. Why would he not be? You get a boss soul, there's a fog gate, it's right before a new area. A lot more hp than normal enemies. Definitely a boss.

Difficulty =/= boss.
User avatar #151 to #150 - frenzyhero (06/28/2014) [-]
when a red phantom sickle guy takes more dmg than a giant worm dude than jabba just cant be a boss. hell dreglings were more of a threat.

know what was a fun boss? that guy in black gulch, the boss of where you find Havels armor. I forget his name, but I remember he had a really wacky and out of place aoe attack. He was overall a bad boss but was fun to fight. twin dragonriders was cool too
User avatar #154 to #151 - tylosaurus (06/28/2014) [-]
Whatever you mean, no.
He is a boss, that's a fact and that's how it officially is.
User avatar #157 to #154 - frenzyhero (06/28/2014) [-]
fine w/e but in that case every other enemy is a boss too.

overall game was way too easy anyway
#163 to #161 - frenzyhero (06/28/2014) [-]
Game was hyped too much, plain and simple.
#164 to #163 - tylosaurus (06/28/2014) [-]
Your logic is stupid, not every enemy is a boss.

People hyping it, stop letting that affect your opinion. Learn 2 be objective.
Also, like I said above in another comment. I find it pretty common that people didn't like dark souls 2 as much because of some nostalgia factor and the fact that they found dark souls 2 "easier" since they have played the first one before. Don't be a baka.
#165 to #164 - frenzyhero (06/28/2014) [-]
When all the enemies are easy up to NG10+ then why even have any bosses at all?

I am objective. The game was repetitive, the 'bosses' were bland and poorly designed, and when the community can refer to 2 different areas as Blighttown 2.0, then there's a problem. The PvP was worse than what Dark Souls 1 launched with, though it did have many less game breaking bugs - There are still obviously failed mechanics that they can't reverse. The whole infusion process is one overpowered mess that completely invalidates all Quality builds, for example.

Onto how people find DkS2 easier simply because they played the first. My brother is terrible. At everything. To even clear Anor Londo it took him 100 hours. He doesn't play PvP or hunt for every item. He just sucks. Dark Souls 2, without even finishing Dark Souls 1, he managed to clear in a month, at about 90 hours.

and touhou thread go or what?
User avatar #173 to #165 - tylosaurus (06/28/2014) [-]
That depends on the person. I'm sure there is an example of someone being stuck somewhere in forever and not being able to clear it.
Also, you're supporting my argument there. When you have played the first and become used to it, you're going to have an easier time with the second game.
User avatar #171 to #165 - tylosaurus (06/28/2014) [-]
Not all enemies are easy up to NG10+, don't kid yourself mister 360xXNoscopeProxXOfnever-dying-ness.

Objective my ass. What's objective about saying a boss is bland? What's objective about saying the pvp is bad? Put some reason into those arguments.
The game was just as repetitive as the first one. Even though that's highly argueable. Most games are "repetitive". Few exceptions. Though it greatly helps with the huge selection of play-styles that you can hand-pick and mix yourself so it doesn't become too repititve.
"Bland". I think I need you to elaborate on that before I argue for or against that. (Well, I need you to elaborate on most of your claims..)
They can do that, but that doesn't make it true. Oh, there are wooden obstacles that you can climb on? BLIGHTTOWN 2.0 GG, **** game amirite. It's not like it's a totally new area with completely new enemies or anything. Not like there are new forms of traps either amirite.

The PvP definitely was not worse than dark souls 1. Dark souls 1 was backstabbing paradise of faggotry. Holy **** it was boring. "Here let me circle you for half an hour until I can pretty much one-shot you!". You call that interesting? In dark souls 2, it isn't as easy to get a backstab in and there are numerous ways of preventing a backstab with the help of items. Forcing you to actually have a proper fight.
Not to mention the connectivity. Holy **** they improved that at least ten fold. Their ****** peer-to-peer made it atrocious to try and invade anyone or connect in any way with a friend. **** , they also added that ring to help you. Whenever I press my cracked red eye orb, I pretty much always invade instantly. It's ******* magical compared to the first. Also, the horrible peer to peer **** connection.. I was almost up against ****** laggers. Not so much anymore, but there are of course a few flaws. Can't be perfect. Infusion was a great thing. It's not overpowered. Especially not since you can easily infuse a weapon youtself.

wall of text
Velstadt has the 4 attacks. 3 I can actually recall. 1 attack instant kills and is essentially great resonant soul with twice as fast speed and near infinite dmg (full wardens dark ring +2 and 2600 hp 1 shot), a hammer smash and a jump hammer smash.

Gulch guy looked like a massive glob. His room looked nothing like his level, and didn't even feature poison. Instead he had a massive AoE that again, would 1 shot most players. He had a grab attack, 2 cleaver smashes and a swipe.

Sinner was special.

Bone Witch guys were special, though they were sorta Nito 2.0 with all the skeletons. Flame Swathe made them a joke.

Serpent Queen of the poison valley was easy. Too slow, basic movesets, not special gimmicks.

Iron King - boring. Sidestepping all day.

Gimmicks are good. A single interesting gimmick is better than hundreds of boring practical movesets, as long as no BoC. It's like the whole game was teaching me, for no reason.

DkS1 was easy to punish BSers with by releasing lock rolling back then relocking. Press R1 and you punish. Also, in high level PvP, unless you chain BS, you won't get a kill from 1 shot BS, unless you're stacking buffs.

Yeah the connection has improved for the most part, but that doesn't change how literally every single competitive player is using some form of dark magic. GRW is the strongest buff, GRS is the most versatile hex, and with spices, all magic is a joke. I shouldn't be able to have 4 stacks of WOG with 10 FTH. Infusing a wpn then buffing it shouldnt give it a 66-75% dmg boost. Every infused weapon shouldn't have higher DPS than a noninfused wepn with the same stats.

DkS2 PvP is spam GRS all day, and Miracle Healing all day. At least in DkS1 both players had equal opportunity healing. In DkS1, dex were the only stunlocking wpns, now everything does it. DkS1 wasn't 1 hit you're dead like DkS2. Last I played DkS2 it was Havels MLGS or get #rekt.

Could go on but char limit.
User avatar #178 to #174 - frenzyhero (06/28/2014) [-]
Glob guy had no reason for that AoE either. I want you to go fight him and tell me where that AoE comes from. It just shows up. Looks like a Star Fox smart bomb, for chrissakes. Sif was a giant wolf, Bigs and Smalls was a tag fight with two clashing styles, Kalameet was insane and had his calamity debuff, Nito did massive army of skeletons first, 4Kings did that awesome space distortion thing where you didn't really know where you were in their level. Iron Golem could fall off and that was so cool, I didn't even know about it until I saw a video of it.

And when you have played every single playstyle, there is nothing left. There is a clear winner in PvP, the hexdex build is perfect. It can do everything, with superior defense and speed, with some of the highest dmg in game, complete with how easy it is to stunlock with the espada and wp combo.

Im done because I'm tired now, but on the note of how difficult it is to connect with friends, that is because they intended it to be that way. They wanted random encounters, not one person guiding another through the entire game, or even more than a level.
User avatar #177 to #174 - tylosaurus (06/28/2014) [-]
I think your problem is not similarities, but that you fear the changes.
and you just seem bad at dodging magics. It's easy as **** to dodge magic and punish them.

If they spam the Great resonant soul, dodge through it and attack them. They can't do **** when you're close. Miracle healing takes a lot of time, I love it when they use it because it's basically a free kill for me most of the time.
and no, they didn't have equal opportunity of healing. The only reason I use miracle healing in PvP is when I'm invading and the ****** runs off to chug all his estus like a casul.
Dex were definitely not the only stunlocking weapons. You could do it with heavy weapons if you wanted to. Not that stunlocking till the person is dead is any fun. Seems like you're 2 casul to hit a moving target. You also seem to get 1hit a lot. Never really had that problem what so ever.
User avatar #184 to #177 - frenzyhero (06/28/2014) [-]
Miracle Healing takes 1/8th of a second. If you hit them after they raise the chime it's already gone through and resolved, they still get the heal. If you don't immediately stunlock them then it's essentially what tanking to use a humanity was in dks1 was.

Yeah I tended to get 1shot killed a lot. That tends to happen in NG10+. Dex was the easiest wpn class to stunlock with and still is, but now bloody everything can stunlock.

I don't fear change, honestly I don't care what they do to the 'series' now it's been tainted , I just know the game has obvious issues when I can 2-3shot someone with a GRW WP and stunlock a person in havels with my bare fists. Combined with all the reused textures sounds and music from first game, the boring movesets of enemies and bosses, then why even bother
User avatar #186 to #184 - tylosaurus (06/28/2014) [-]
but they can't move at all, so it makes it pretty easy. Why complain about that? You've got your overpowered infusioned weapon. It shouldn't be a problem, right?
Are you honestly judging the game from the perspective of NG10+? You have got to be kidding me.

Oh no, **** you from software, you ruined the meta from dark souls 1 and didn't put it into dark souls 2! **** YOOOOU! Stop balancing the game oh my god! (Also, the way poise work is different, so you can prevent getting stunlocked).
>As if there weren't easy ways to 2-3 shot people in the first one.
>As if stunlock is everything about PvP
You seem like you're very dependant on stunlocking. Top kek.
It's common to re-use stuff from a previous game in the series. Most companies do that. It doesn't even look like the first one, so I hardly think they re-used that many textures. Why would they need to remake it though? It's the same game, but in the future. It'd be stupid to like.. change how the estus flask looks. No need for that.
User avatar #188 to #186 - frenzyhero (06/28/2014) [-]
No they didnt change the meta, the meta is still dex. It's just now they gave that meta the strongest magic in the game.

Poise is ******** this time, it only serves to BE stunlocked. You can literally fist someone to death because poise is ******** .

Yes stunlock is everything in pvp, when you vie for every single hit.

Have you ever played against any real players and not just random scrubs?

On the subject of healing, since you've obviously never played as the invader, my only source of healing is a miracle that I may not have, while the host can have more than 900 heals, if you count those things that restore spell uses they were spices in demons souls old spices. They can't move for about an 1/8th of a second, you seem to misunderstand that. You're never going to be always on the enemy. Never. That's a terrible idea, it'll get you killed, But not doing that will just let them heal.

Jesus man actually play the game. It'd be a waste of your time, but don't just bitch if you don't know what you're even bitching about, since it's apparent you're just playing against randoms.
#189 to #188 - tylosaurus (06/28/2014) [-]
Nooo, not really. A lot dropped dex and went for faith/str.
People also do enjoy using a mundane santier spear with mundane avelyns.

No, poise is good if you're an aggressive ************ . It makes it so you can't get interrupted when you attack, potentially YOU stunlocking the ENEMY without being INTERRUPTED. Like, you know how you could swing your huge ass sword and someone with a dagger simply just made you stop attacking? No more of that ******** .

No, it's not. Stop being a casual and learn to hit a moving target without needing to lock on.
Swing the sword, hit them. If they run away, use ranged attacks or follow them. Pretty damn simple. If they constantly shield, use the shield break and punish them. No longer people just hiding behind a huge ass great shield.
Yeah, but it seems you haven't. If they get out of a stunlock, simply just follow them. If you can't kill anything without them just standing still and not moving, then you must be one of them scrubs.

but I invade all the time. I have like 20 cracked red eye orbs left on my NG character. I had a stack of 99. That means I PvP'd around 99 times and won.
I also PvP'ed to level up beyond full in the dragon covenant to get dragon scales.

Yeah, the host has always been able to heal like a ************ and I don't like that either, but that's how from made it. You are invading a world of someone unwilling to PvP most of the time anyways. It's best to be near the enemy, unless you're a squishy sorry little magic fag. Which I assume you are.

No, really. What kind of insult is that? Think whatever you want, your arguments have proven that you're totally a scrubomatic 9000.
